Le Creuset Heritage Vintage style @ Williams Sonoma?

These Heritage pieces are excellent and every bit the quality of their standard lines. The designs are reproductions of the enameled cast-iron that used to be manufactured in Belgium under the Descoware name. I prefer these to the modern designs because I like their stylish profiles and the handles that are integral to the lids rather than screwed on. Some, however ,do not like these handles because they are a bit difficult to manage with oven mitts, and they do get scorchingly hot. Nonetheless, the quality is premium.

Good Tamales in Sacramento??

A thread on tamales in Fresno got me thinking about this. Years ago in Sacramento there was a little restaurant called Capital Tamale, and they served the finest tamales that I have ever had. In lieu of a big doughy ball of masa paste in the middle, they had thin layers of masa layered with corn husk. You had to methodically peel your tamale apart to get to the treasure in the middle, and it was wonderful. The sauce was house made, and they would give you an extra cup of it to gargle with if you asked for it. Truly, this place was a temple of gluttony.

Sadly, Capital Tamale has been gone for many years, and what passes for tamales locally are not in the same family of food. My question is, where, oh where, can one get good tamales like this in Sacramento? Or the greater Sacramento area? Or California, for that matter??

Mother's Day Brunch Sacramento?

I think that the drive to Auburn would be alright on Sunday morning though. We are actually in Folsom, so we can take the back route, and it wouldn't be bad at all. Have you actually been to Latitudes?

Mother's Day Brunch Sacramento?

Woah, that was fast. Does anyone know anything about any of those places? I am familiar with Chanterelle and, of course, The Firehouse, but does anyone know any of the others? Latitudes looks really interesting.

Mother's Day Brunch Sacramento?

Good day, Chowhounds!

I have been off this board for a few years, and look what happened. It looks great!

In any case, I have a question: Where is the killer Mother's Day brunch in Sacramento? I know about the obvious choices, like the Hyatt and the Raddison, but I am looking for some place extraordinary to take Mom.

Let me know!

Thanks!
