mishloach manot themes

Kitchen Caboodles on Ave P in Bklyn had the most creative, reasonable and beautiful packages I have seen. It was perfect for me because I was working & had no time to really be as creative as i've been in the past years. They had mishloach manot starting from $4! ($5,6,8,10 etc)They even do custom packages with gourmet ingredients. They had the cutest ice cream packages for $25 that had 4 ceramic cone shaped cups filled w/sprinkles,and all colorful candy set on top of color coordinated box. It looked like a 40 dollar thing! My neighbors loved them because it was stuff they would actually use!!! It worked for me this year!

Any suggestions for GOOD kosher wine?

Reds only-weinstock cabernet sauvignon or tepperberg silver. Both excellent dry wines. not too pricey either. As for whites, I'm still tasting.

Best Glatt Kosher Butcher in Brooklyn?

I am an I& D fan. Hes just like the old time butcher. If you need something special or unusual he will oblige. If hes not around most of the staff knows there stuff. He now carries fresh fish and an entire line of prepared items. Meals to go, chicken shapes and fingers made of white meat chicken(not chicken parts) and many middle eastern foods from the freezer.(met stuffed grape leaves, little meat pies, kibbe(bulgur shells stuffed with meat then fried) and others. His meat is excellent. My rack of lamb was succulent this holiday. His flat cut brisket is always great. You can get chicken cutlets already sliced thin so you don't have to pound them. He also has organic poultry and meats including non-cured hot dogs. Give it a try. you'll be happy. he might be a little more expensive but I always find that my hard work in the kitchen goes further when you start with quality ingredients and a tough piece of meat is just a waste of money.

Best kosher supermarket?

Hi Again,
I need to clarify some things I wrote about Ouris fruit store.I haven't been there in a couple of months (I have been ordering over the phone). Since my last vist they have now posted their prices and I have now realized that they are definately cheaper than the orchard. The store is really beautiful and thats because their friuts and veggies are so abundant in color. The store itself is generic to say the least but then again its the produce you want.Ouri's moves to the jersey shore (deal) during the summer so call before you go.718-645-0200.

Best kosher supermarket?

I can honestly say that some of his things may be priced like the orchard but if you introduce yourself as a caterer or personal chef, Ouri himself might be more helpful to you in the price department. Also the later in the day you go the better. They try to get rid of most of their stuff every day hence they have the freshest produce that lasts very long. (longer than the orchard) I live near the orchard but still shop at Ouri's. If he's not around speak to elan, gilly, or tal. those are his sons but Ouri himself is easier swayed. Good Luck and try ave P if you have time. its worth it.

pareve baking chocolate

If you really want high quality chocolate for baking you must try to get Callebeaut chocolate. It makes a huge difference from that waxy kosher kind. It is certified kosher OU I think and is PAREVE! I get mine from Kitchen Caboodles on Ave P in Brooklyn NY. 718-998-9111. They will ship. They also carry many cool ingredients for candy making and baking. All kosher. They have great baking pans too. Try Callebeaut. You will not be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. it comes in chips/mini chips and melts. They carry Scharrfenberger too but only in blocks. Its pareve as well.

Phenomenal Kosher Pizza? Does it Exist?

Pizza time on ave j in brooklyn is co-owned by the italian family that owned the pizza place previously. Other than it being emmaculate ( a kosher rarity!!) they have the freshest and best pizza. Try the grandma slice and/or the squares. Even the regular slices are great. Some days you can't even get a table!!

ISO kosher tamarind paste

Nothing can replace tamarind paste. It is abundant in Brooklyn. Try Holon grocery 718-336-7758 to ship or try associated on ave p 718-375-6815 ask for Abie. These groceries may accommodate your needs. They both stock plenty of middle eastern kosher products.

Best kosher supermarket?

Brooklyn is probably the place you'll find the best quality foodstuffs but not sure about the pricing.I use mostly organic products in my cooking and I cook every night for my family of 7. The best fruit organic or not in brooklyn is by far Ouri's on ave U and east 3rd st. The prices are high but totally worth it.You would have to explain to someone that you need personal help because there are no prices posted because they change according to the market that day.Do not go on Thursday or day before holiday, too crowded. You'll also find extremely beautiful and unusual produce as well. For great meat, fish (organic & not) try I& D Glatt in Ave P bt.east 3rd & 4th st. There's an Associated market next door that has 99% of its items kosher.Plenty of organic & natural products as well as hard to find kosher ingredients (huge selection of middle eastern products due to the sephardic population. If you make it to ave P also stop in Kitchen Caboodles. It's a gourmet kitchen store that stocks totally cool things. They also have some very interesting ingredients for anyone who can or can not bake or cook. They even have a mikveh on site.Brooklyn rocks but quality doesn't come cheap. I forgot to mention that afriut store just opened on Ave P near I & D glatt and the Associated I mentioned earlier. Ave P just might be the one stop shopping you asked for. Parking is dependant on alternate side but there are plenty of meters. Don't go on thursdays is possible! Meter maids are at a 2 to 1 ratio on those days!!!
