A Most Expensive Piece Of Pizza

Come over to White Center and try Proletariat Pizza on 16th. They do slices for lunch. Happy hour (half-price pies) is Monday through Thursday, 4-5:30pm. Great NYish syle pizza. Eat in or take out and I think they've just started delivery.

Three night s in Red Deer, AB--dinner suggestions?

It's just me but I prefer to skip the room service and hotel restaurant dinners, if possible. I'm game for most anything and I'll have a car. Thanks!

Las Vegas Tasting Menu Deals

Seablue's winter tasting menu looks tasty, mofo! If the sommelier is good, then that's an awesome value. Their 'market salad' thing is intriguing, though putting cabrales on salad mystifies me.

why the cringe re: rosemary's, climberdoc? do you not recommend it? it's on my list for a trip in april. i'd rather not rent a car so we (a group of at least four) will be cabbing. how far/much are we talking from the strip? i'll be at paris.

Help! Olympia recommendation please...

Last minute (cause I'm an awful procrastinator): I'm looking for a restaurant gift certificate to give for a milestone birthday. Olympia area. Want to spend 100 bucks. Person is a foodie so place needs to be up to snuff--not precious but tasty with good wine.

Thanks in advance!

Flying Fish this week?

My fave FF dish is the whole fried fish but it's meant to be shared. Is that a possibility?

Denver recommendations: 4 dinners in December

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I've checked them all out online (Kevin---awesome blog---thanks to you, I've squandered an hour on a culinary tour of Japan!). Mizuna is clearly in the running, even with the price point. The small plate menu is the only one I can access for Beatrice and Woodsley but it seems promising.

SeattliteChower, my picks for modestly priced Seattle restaurants include Cafe Bizarro, Le Pichet, Lark, Shiro, the bar at Brasa, Machiavelli, and Cafe Campagne.

Denver recommendations: 4 dinners in December

Hi Chowhounds. My foodie friend and I would like your suggestions for dinner venues in Denver the first week in December. We're attending a conference at the Sheraton Denver but will have a car for forays afield. We've identified a couple of restaurants (including Prima) but would prefer to hear real world experiences. Especially appreciated: good food and wine at reasonable prices. It's hard to be gourmets in a recession! ;-)

Thanks in advance.

Ideas please: wine and cheese party

The setting: wine and cheese party where guests are invited to contribute a bottle and "a cheese;" event to take place outisde on a (hopefully warm!) July evening. My brain is mush. Help me come up with a fun addition to the festivities. Maybe a crisp, unusual white with a snappy little finger food that can be prepared in advance? Thanks in advance!

Family dinner in Seattle

The Brooklyn is a great suggestion. Flying Fish in Belltown offers standards like fried chicken and steak, in addition to creative (but not too too) seafood. There's also Dahlia Lounge, downtown--plenty of grilled meat on the menu.

2 Days in McMinnville, OR

La Rambla is fantastic---I've eaten there a few times and have never been disappointed. Excellent wine list and knowedgeable sommelier. Bistro Maison is good also: standard French classics. Steak frites is my choice there. Skip the onion soup--the time I ordered it was a complete disappointment. I've had good moules there too but a friend had a different experience on a different day. Nick's food is OK... I only ate there once but I have to say that, though I'm willing to drop a boatload of money for a great meal, I sort of felt ripped off at Nick's. Hugely inflated wine prices were a turnoff, considering they're smack in the middle of wine county. Never tried Tina's. Have fun!

Central District for tonight with caveats

I'm not convinced that Ethiopian + dancing is a bad combination. Do you like southern food? How about Catfish Corner at MLK and Cherry? Not at all fancy but they throw down some unbelievable catfish, collard greens, hushpuppies and--if you're lucky--killer karaoke. www.mo-catfish.com

Anybody have impost on The Pink Door in Sea?

Unless you can sit out on the deck and enjoy the sun setting over the water, or you have a friend who is performing in the restaurant, I really can't recommend it. At least, not for the food. It's a charming place in a great loation and the deck is spectacular.... but the food and service is underwhelming.

Dinner club in West Seattle?

A few foodie friends and I used to have a killer dinner club. Sadly, they've all moved to NYC and left me here, alone and bereft. Not really but I do miss them. Anyway, I'd love to either start or join a dinner club in my neighborhood. My house is teeny so it would have to be a small group. Does anyone have such a group in West Seattle? Or, would anyone be interested in starting one with me?

One Dinner in Seattle

A six year old, not too expensive, and a short distance from 6th/University make this a tough assignment! ;-) My suggestion would be to jump on bus (or grab a cab) and take the short trip down to the International District. Have tasty, inexpensive Chinese food at Shanghai Garden --- the kid will love the huge fish tank in the dining room --- and then wander across the street to Uwajimaya (www.uwajimaya.com), an enormous Asian grocery store. Marvel at the interesting food and househhold items, not to mention their disturbingly extensive Hello Kitty collection!

need help with a salad dressing recipe

You know, I think that stuff is just mayonnaise with some sugar (maybe Mirin) and rice wine vinegar. You could probably improve it by adding some grated onion and/or ginger.
