Malo -- good for a birthday dinner? yes....I love Malo The drinks are great, cool scene and the food is solid. Order up entrees and then a bunch of Tacos and sides or appetizers. Actually, I think Malo has the best breakfast in the city. Cheesy diablo potatoes.....wow ----- |

What's the name of French place on Ventura blvd in Sherman Oaks next Jinkys? Thanks in advance |

Sherman Oaks/Studio City b-day dinner for 10/12 recs? We were thinking along the lines of Casa Vega but large group and a Friday night is an insurance nightmare. Does not have to be Mexican but something lively with good cocktails. Thanks in advance. |

Sushi Sushi is more expensive (5 to 10%) than Sushi Zo by the way. |

Encino Deli breakfast ... it's pretty bad More than waffles is across the street form Encino Deli, it is in the "mall" by the theater downstairs. Darn good breakfast. |

Hu's Szechwan Restaurant on National and Rose I like Hu's a lot. For some reason it reminds me of the chinese place in a Christmas Story. It is simply solid, tasty food. The dumplings are awesome and the shrimp dishes are good. I like thier noodles as well. One cool thing about Hu's is they don't serve booze but you can bring your own at no charge. There is a good liquor store next door if you forget. |

Katana? Kappo Ishito? Thoughts? The food at Katana is very tasty with lots of flavor. Katana is expensive and a scene so keep that in mind but for a "scene" place the food is actually very good. Katana is great for a group because you can order all kinds of small plates. |

Radically overcooked steak at Musso & Frank; Sanddabs OK Many place poorly judge carry-over cooking. Send it back. |

Dark...Booths...Quiet Conversation...help! What did you have? Its not A+ food but it is solid with exactly what the poster was looking for. |

Dark...Booths...Quiet Conversation...help! Matteo's on Westwood...hands down. They have the same old classic menu but a great new more modern menu with a new chef. |

What Can You Tell Me About Gulfstream? I have been many times and never noticed this. Was it a one time thing for you? |
|
|
What Can You Tell Me About Gulfstream? Eat the fish of the day and it will be good. I like the Hummus, Smoked Trout and Avo app with toast point. |

What to order at Ruth Chris ??? Ruth's food is consistant with everything in the very good range. There are no tanscendent items but there are very few clunkers. Order what you like and it will be very good, I like the pomme frites with the best steak of the day. |

Anything not to be missed or off the menu items? |

Get Omakase, he will ask you your preferences so simply tell him. I usually just tell him what I don't like, even if it was the best the world I don't dig it. |

Horrible Christmas Eve dinner at Saddle Peak Lodge I was surprised because we had been going for years. Lots of our friends also go so its nice to get together after dinner for a drink. |

Horrible Christmas Eve dinner at Saddle Peak Lodge My family and I have been going to SPL on X-mas every year for 12 years or so and have a fond place in our heart for the restaurant. The meal was price fix with an overly ambitious menu in that every dish had multiple ingrediants. There was no venison or elk or even a filet available. The main course were rabbit, duck and lamb. The food came out slow and cold and the service was somewhat apathetic. It was as if the chef pre-cooked it all and the staff reheated it. I think this was a result of a poorly executed price fix but a top end place should never make that mistake. On the plus side they did remove the wine from our bill when we inquired of the waitress what she thought of the meal. |

Rehearsal Dinner on Westside of Los Angeles for $12-$17 At those price points you are looking at fast food options, I assume you mean $12-15 with tax and tip. Maybe a place like Louise's on Pico could do a pizza & salad thing. |
|
|
Dan Tana's - dress code and sharing You will be fine in jeans as Dan Tana's is a mix of all kinds of people. There is a $10(? if I recall) sharing charge. |

Opinions on NOE downtown at the Omni Hotel? Thanks in advance. |

Why was this post moved? The Mortons on Melrose is not a chain, it is a single stand alone restaurant not affiliated with the La Cienega location. I could not find an email si I had to post "Morton's, The Steakhouse on Melrose recs? posted by SCmike about 2 hours ago bookmark edit report this post" |

HELP a Wife In Need! ASAP...Recs on Decent Place w/ NY METS game on tonight I love to watch games at the bar of a good steak place like Mastro's and Ruth's Chris. Sometimes you have to be patient for a seat but it pays off. |

HELP a Wife In Need! ASAP...Recs on Decent Place w/ NY METS game on tonight I would reco Enoteca Drago in Beverly Hills on Canon. Enoteca has a great wine list with lots of fairly priced by the glass options. They have, I would say, good italian food. The specials can be great and they have a small plates menu. They have a large flat screen right in the dining room over the bar. There is no sound but you can clearly follow the game. |

Yes, Zo is very fine for solo dining. Kei-zo is a very nice guy and when not too darn busy you can converse and discuss the items with him. |

Park on the street with a meter, either Pico or Westwood. The mall is open and you could park there and walk over. |

I have always like Geoffrey's. It has some mixed foodie reviews the setting is unbeatable. |

We are from LA and love all different kinds of food. It would be a Tuesday night and any price range works if the valaue is there. You know a hamburger at McD's is overpriced to me because it stinks, while I don't mind paying for truly great stuff. |

anything we can do for Sushi Zo? It is really not that out of the way, just off the 10 on national. Plus unlike 95% of sushi places the parking is easy as there is a huge grocery store lot available. |

anything we can do for Sushi Zo? I think he said he was from Osaka. He has good english but a strong accent so I could have misheard. He used to work at Hide on Sawtelle. |
