Charleston, SC...I want to eat like a local

I have read a number of reviews on the Charleston eating scene and it sounds like I will not be hurting for options during a 4 day visit. My question is..where do the locals eat for the best food, for the best price in a casual atmosphere. I live in NY, so while in town, I want to favor restaurantes that offer more of a local flavor in their recipes, decor and service. Leaning towards High Cotton and Queen 82, but I would like a couple of less pricey options for lunch and dinner. Where do you guys eat? As a New Yorker, I know that the best places have more locals than tourists...the same has to be true in the South.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Meat and Fish Markets Scarsdale/Edgemont

What about Butchers?

Landed reservations at babbo and what to order

Wine...don't worry...they have 1/3 bottle tasters that you can pair with each course.
You are probably looking at $150 in wine for three courses.
My favorite dishes are the super light and clean calamari in tomato broth and the many great ones...beef cheek ravioli, mint love letters, oxtail nocci.

Never been to Lupa but here it is fabulous. I do think the cuisine is quite you might consider changing a Lupa to something else.

Mexican/Central American in Westchester County

Saw a cople of posts for Casa Maya...but it shoud be avoided like the plague.
The guacaomle is chunky...but chunky with onion not avocado...which might be run through a food processor before being mixed in. They use no lime, cilantro or jalapeno either. Just huge chunks of onion. The chicken is all the dishes in unseasoned and they just rely on the sauce to cover up the blandness. Bottom expensive step up on Taco Bell.

Meat and Fish Markets Scarsdale/Edgemont

Just move from New York City to Scarsdale/Edgemont.
I really miss the gourmet markets like "the lobster place" and citerella for fresh fish and all the wonderful meet butchers for veal, lamb and beef. I am aware of the Whole Foods in White Plains and the Balducci's in Scarsdale, but I know there must be speciality stores with superior quality and freshness. Any suggestions for these specialty markets would be greatly appreciated....Thanks.

Ebb Tide in Portchester

I go for lunch ...great spot on a warm or cool (but not hot or cold) day. Sit outside and watch the boats go by and definitely go for the lobster roll, fish and chips and/or the cowder, which is delicious. Eating inside the restaurant on a hot or cold day is like eating in the middle of a bait and tackle shop...not teriibly appealing. Eating on the deck outside is one of the nicer spots in Weschester.
