Good bakeries in the burbs?
The Lucky Cupcake in Pipersville (about 1 mile north of Doylestown) on Route 611 is the only place I can recommend. They have a great website listing the 30 types of cakes/cupcakes that they carry. We have had their items 3 times now and they are consistently good and fairly priced. Unusual flavors, standard flavors, the icing, cake are decent. Finally a decent bakery. Wegman's chocolate cake is good too. Weinrich's in Willow Grove is Ok for standard fare. Buttercrumb in Chalfont is also decent basic fare. There is also Rillings on Street Road in Southampton - a little above the other two. There is also J. Scones in Doylestown - good but very expensive. My vote goes to the Lucky Cupcake.

Don't know why there can't be any really good bakeries in the Doylestown area. Up here, its Wegman's in Warrington (their dark chocolate cake), Night Kitchen is closed, Landis Markets in Perkasie/Souderton is better than average, and Costco in Montgomeryville is a good value for the money. But nothing that really knocks your socks off. Lily's restaurants (Lily's, Smokin Lil's) has nice desserts and you can order but they are very expensive. Any one have any places near Doylestown?
Marietta Georgia - need help
We are going to Marietta Georgia for 6 days to visit my mom. Can anyone recommend any good restaurants. We are adventurous, like ethnic food and we have 2 children so we are not looking for fancy places. Any suggestions? She lives in Indian Hills and I need places that are somewhat close to her house. I saw the thread on Tasty China. We like Bagelicious for Breakfast and the Flying Buiscuit was great. Are they still there? Restaurants seem to come and go there more than where we are from in Pennsylvania. She usually takes us to chain restaurants. I would like to find something else besides Ted's Montana Grill and Longhorne's which are around the corner from her house.

The best scones and donuts I have ever had are at the Carversville General Store in Carversville near New Hope. But they sell out pretty quick. The scones have crystalized ginger and they are to die for. Crossroads breads are good but I find their desserts somewhat lacking in flavor. There is a Night Kitchen Bakery in Doylestown as well as Chestnut Hill but is small with a limited selection.
I wish there was a decent bakery around these parts.
Avalon / StoneHarbor NJ
Glenn, I have some questions for you if you don't mind since you are in town. We will try your restaurant - it sounds great! However, we need some kid friendly places too- seafood, BBQ, that are decent. Any recommendations. We are adventurous.
Avalon NJ
My mother in law graciously rented a house in Avalon Nj in August. Need some dining recommendations. We are adventurous. Also, I don't like the Jersey Shore - the sand and salt water. Anyone know of a freshwater public pool in the area?
Orlando Restaurants
On a tip from Chowhound, we tried Havana's Cuban Restaurant - it was terriffic. Ok atmosphere, they serve beer, very friendly and gracious staff, and the food was excellent.
Entrees were about $10-23.
Also tried Landry's Seafood - looked like a chain - it was - but it was good and they had a playground outside for children to play in while you waited for a table. Chilean sea bass was done to perfection, staff was attentive, drinks were good. Pass on signature dessert- banana's foster - it is not the real thing- instead - it is ice cream wrapped in a crepe with bananas and some chocolate and caramel - fake whipped cream. Otherwise, it is a reasonably priced decent place for seafood.
Best Cuban in Orlando - Where is Bob Mervine
Hi - We are travelling to Orlando on June 3 and taking our kids to Disney. We are not staying at Disney. We are older (50's) and are adventurous eaters however, we also have well behaved 4 and 5 year old girls so we don't need the fanciest of restaurants. We are looking for places close to Disney for lunch and dinner and I am not sure where the places in the posts are relative to the Disney area. We will have a rental car. We are looking for 1 or 2 nice restaurants and the rest somewhat kid-friendly. Can you give us an idea of what is close to Disney? We like ethnic - Cuban, Brazilian, anything. Also will probably need a good pizza restaurant.
Yalda Grill and kabob house
We have been there two times - very good food and different from the usual Italian and Chain restaurant. Phenomenal lambchop kebabs (actual lamb chops that would cost a fortune in another restaurant - that are spiced and gilled) and many other great dishes. Also good because they serve pizza so the kids are happy. My only complaint is that the service is haphazard - a very willing waitstaff but they seem inexperienced and service is slow. BYOB is also a plus.
