Places to buy specialty chocolate near Seattle?
Ballard Market also has a nice selection of specialty chocolates. It's on several shelves between two check-out lanes about halfway between the front doors. I'm almost positive I'm seen Michel Cluizel and many others but I'm not sure about Amedei. The often have my favorite Belgian chocolate bar, Cafe Tasse, in a variety of flavors.
What to Eat in Burien,Wa
About a mile south of beautiful downtown Burien you'll find Abruzzi's Pizza in Normandy Park at 17817 1st Ave. S. It's an unassuming place that makes great pizza. Their pizza is from the same recipes of the original Abruzzi's at 5th & Pine in downtown Seattle that was lost when NikeTown and the other new places around that intersection were built in the 90's.
Bakeries in Northern Seattle
Do you include Ballard as a part of N. Seattle? If yes, Larsen's Danish Bakery at NW 80th & 24th NW has wonderful pastries, cookies, cakes and breads. You would find many nearly identical items in any bakery in Copenhagen.
The wonderful Cafe Besalu is well represented elsewhere on this board for its small but delicious selection of French baked goods. They're in the middle of the block at NW 59th & 24th NW. Next door is the equally well discussed Tall Grass Bakery known for their breads.
You won't go wrong with any of these places.
Malay Satay Hut
I mentioned this in another thread recently but I'm nuts for their Black Pepper Crab. Or the Black Pepper Shrimp. It's very close to the same dishes I ate in Singapore. I think they're both usually on the whiteboard/chalkboard and not the printed menu.
Thanks for the info on the Seattle location - I was also wondering why it's been closed whenever I go by lately.
(SEA)Dungeness Crabs and other seattle delights?
May I suggest the Black Pepper Crab at Malay Satay Hut? 212 12th Ave South about a block away from Seven Star Pepper. Outdoor dining is not so easy to find this time of year.
