Setting up a wedding registry and jus thought I'd go with what my family has used for years which is All Clad LTD (stainless steel interior and dark exterior). Learned to cook on that and my mom's 30 year set still looks great. Now it looks like it's no longer available. Help! I like the stainless interior and the dark exterior. What brand comes close? As it is a wedding registry I was hoping to get the best and have it last for years and years. |

need show stopping parve wedding dessert Before the cake, either carrot or chocolate with white icing, want to do a show stopping dessert... caterer suggestions don't sound exciting though we will see and taste them before.... what did you eat for dessert at a wedding that you remember? |

Traveling with adult son allergic to sesame seeds and tree nuts. Suggest upscale restaurants downtown where as much as possible is made from scratch. Ethnic like Asian or Indian are usually not an option. Italian works well, as do steakhouses or New American. Need 3 dinners. What are the local supermarket chains. Would like to pick up Boars Head or Applegate turkey and bottled water. Will have a rental car. Any delis you can suggest. Thanks Milwaukeeians. |

There is a great organization called FAAN, Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network. They have a comprehensive website and offer advise on dealing with food allergies and will email you if some brand all of a sudden has contamination of a product. Beware of Asian restaurants, there are some dried shrimp in sauces. I think they also have a template for the allergy cards someone mentioned. Select Wisely has them with pictures and in many foreign langauges for travel. |

Wedding with no dairy, nut or sesame Brother of the bride has tree nut and sesame allergies. Trying to also make the wedding kosher style, hence no dairy. Would love for son to be able to eat everything at the wedding. He's been to too many affairs where he ate before hand so as not to eat at the party. Chef willing to do kosher style (no shellfish, pork or dairy ) Suggest some pass around apps that would be good. Also an interesting salad or appetizer. The main course is fillet mignon or a choice of fish. Dessert is up for suggestion. |

Coming in to the Monaco near Wacker at about 10:30 PM. Any place nearby where we can get a decent dinner? Hate to resort to room service..... |

La Cupola is horrendous. We were there fairly early and there was one other couple in the place. The food took forever to arrive and then was cold and congealed. The stone outside makes you think it is a classy place, but stay away. There is a better Italian just down the road towards Washington, Zini's that was pretty good. Mockingbird that was formerly Tollgate is good too, limited menu, very colonial decor, and locally sourced ingredients. Everything from Chinese dumplings to burgers and steak. Not overly priced either. |

I appreciate the recipe but please remember the allergy problem in addition to kosher style. No tree nuts no sesame. I guess olive oil could be substituted for the sesame oil. |

keep it coming. The caterer is not kosher and has lots of items on the menu that are nonkosher that we can't use. Going for kosher style and with the allergy limitations that becomes more difficult. My only choice of caterer at the Yale club was inhouse or Foremost. |

Caterer's selections are boring, but he is willing to get ideas and work with it. I guess off the shelf is possible, but if he is willing to make it, I should take him up on it. Just no nuts and sesame or dairy. |

Can anyone suggest a wedding venue for about 100 people that had great food? Manhattan preferred but can do outer boroughs if necessary. |

Carole Peck to open Zee Burger, a new burger and sandwich shop in CT. Zeeburger is no more. Replaced with BuildaBurger or Bildaburger... haven't tried it yet. |

Lucky you, Valrhona is the best chocolate. Makes great brownies. Use in any recipe calling for unsweetened chocolate. You control the sugar content, great in frosting too. or waffles, or cookies. |

CHRISTINA'S ON 2ND AVENUE, KIPS BAY That Christina's closed like 5-6 years ago. Replaced by a Spanish/Argentinian place that also went under. It's just not a lucky corner. There are several Polish restaurants on First Ave below 14th if you're still interested in Polish food. |

Fresh (fish but spoiled veggies) Direct - Why? I have had several meat deliveries that were just too fatty and gristely to be used. They always refund your purchase price it you complain. Fruit is usually underripe, but berries are overripe. |

Make a batch of ritzy mac and cheese, depending on how much cheese you have it can be a big or small batch. If it is a big batch, you can freeze chunks and enjoy at a later date without having to eat the whole thing right away. Barefoot Contessa recipe works whenever I have cheeses starting to go south. |

Deen - Why did she keep it a secret for three years while deep frying butter? All this cooking personalities have private secrets. In her autobiography Paula Deen says one of the other female chefs throws up after every meal. Don't know who that is (all the skinny ones are now suspect). Her health is a private matter, never made anything is cooked except the corn blueberry muffins from her autobiography book, (they were awful) Can't stand all the "endorsing" all of them do. |
