ReNapoli in Old Greenwich?
I agree the pizza (various styles) are done well here; however, I don't think they travel well. My best experieience has been eating onsite. Also, the Chicago Beef is excellent.
Stamford Restaurant Week 2012
Columbus Park Trattoria menu - Same menu for lunch and dinner but different price points. Not to mention typo - "Porcini"
Why Are There No Great Restaurants In Fairfield County?

Casa Villa in Stamford: Best Tacos I know
I think we all miss the old Tri-state board - very few posts these days for the area.
Chicago-style Italian Beef hits Connecticut
I have tried their Pizza Napoletana (margherita), the NY Pie(cheese), and the Sicilian Pie. Overall I think their NY Pie is their best pie. The crust has the slight/med chew that you would expect from a NY pie. The Napoletana pie out of thier "Cirigliano" oven had some char on the outer crust, but the bottom crust of the pie was limp and somewhat soggy - disappointed. I may give it another try as they learn to use the ovens better. The sicilian pie I had delivered and that was a mistake since the box they use is not high enough to support the thickness of the pie - and therefore the cheese sticks to the top of the box. They use the plastic spaces but, once you close the box it just buries them into the cheese. The crust could be a little thinner - which would give it a little more density - which it needs. Overall I think this place has promise - as Greenwich is a wasteland for Pizza. Going to try the Italian Beef Sandwiches next.
El Charrito announces second location (storefront)
There aren't any tables - just a walk up counter.
Where and How to purchase Prime Rib
Ask the butcher for 3 ribs from the small end (10 - 12) and to remove the chine (backbone). then it up to you. I like to cook the roast on a pan on top some carrots, parsnips onions, shallots. the veg lifts it off the bottome of the pan and creates extra flaovr for making a pan gravy. Bone side down. I like to season the roast by rubbing with olive oil and then rub in some sea salt and fresh cracked pepper or by making a horseradish paste. Cook it to 125 degrees and then let sit for 15 mins. Should be a perfect M-rare.... Enjoy.

Lou, I know this Riverside resident will be cutting his drive to the truck by hitting the new storefront.
Pizza - Old Greenwich
This is going in the Beyond Bread location
Pizza champ plans Old Greenwich eatery
World Pizza Champion Bruno DiFabio and restaurateur Steve Cioffi plan to open ReNapoli, a contemporary pizzeria in mid-January at 216 Sound Beach Ave., in Old Greenwich. The restaurant will feature one wood-fired and one traditional brick-floor oven to produce three styles of pizza: Romana, Napoletana and New York Pie. ReNapoli also will serve sandwiches, salads, appetizers and pasta dishes. DiFabio is co-owner of the International School of Pizza in San Francisco
Little Luigi Pizza
Has anyone tried Little Luigi's Pizza in Cos Cob? They have a sign in the window "Hot Oil Pie" Its on River Road between Louie's and Joey B's
Moe's Burger Joint
Saw that Moe's Buger Joint is going to be opening in Riverside/Old Greenwich location (across from Taco Bell). Is anyone familiar with Moe's?

Stamford -new Moroccan wine bar ?
Louuuuuu,
I agree "tasty" is the word to describe the food. My wife and I stopped in on Saturday night and sat at the bar and ordered 1 snack and 2 small plates. The small plate consisted of two dipping bowls - one with hummus and the other a red pepper spread, and some house made whole wheat pita chips sprinkled lightly with cinnamon. The chips were a nice accompaniment to the hummus; however they muted the bright flavors of the red pepper spread (which I enjoyed on its own).
The two small plates, lamb chops and pita with ground lamb and spices were both very tasty - with two totally different flavor profiles. The two small double cut loin chops were perfectly cooked (MR) and had a light bread crumb crust lightly flavored with anchovy, but contain other spices that complimented the chop's bold flavor. I could have eaten another plate or two of these "lambcicles". The lamp pita had a generous portion of ground lamb meat and was flavored more subtly than the lamb chops, but was equally tasty in their own right. Diced red pepper and Mediterranean (Indian?) spices spiked up the flavor profile of the dish.
We had 2 drinks and 2 glasses of wine with the food for a total of $66. (drinks/wine $34). What was most interesting was that the bill contained a charge of $1 for each "rocks" drink. I didn't get a chance to ask (my fault), about the charge for the ice. I am thinking it was more for the larger pour of the drink (on the rocks, no mixer). I definitely would go back to try more of their offerings.
This place definitely isn't Moroccan... I would call it - Mediterranean inspired prepared food. The bartender (Eric - manager?) was a nice guy, and visited with the patrons to see how they were enjoying their meals and seemed to be interested in feedback.
Polpo-Greenwich-we won't be returning
The food is always good, and the service is always lousy.
Where to buy Sushi/Sashimi Grade Fish in Farfield County, CT
I buy from Fjord Fisheries in Cos Cob.. I haven't been disappointed in the quality of product
Best ice cream shop in Fairfield County?
There is a Longfords in Old Greenwich, as is Darlene's Heavenly Desires for ice cream and gelato
If not on expense account: any places in 2010 you would make a trip to LV to eat /dine / chow?
I would definately go to Rosemary's. Thier 3 course $55 prix fixe offers excellent value with excellent service. Went in last Saturday night had a crimini mushroom soup with truffle oil, a crawfish risotto, and a veal filet as my 3 courses. All were excellent . You can choose 2 course with an entree - so 2 apps, 1 app and a salad, 1 app or salad and dessert - however you want to pair it.
Rehearsal Dinner Near Rye Brook-- Italian Restaurant Needed
From whom did you hear that they were closing?
My Fairfield County Italian Restaurant List - - - What's Next???
Definitely try Siena in Stamford. It is consistently good - won't blow you away, but solid. The staff is accommodating and not pushy in any way. Wine list is primarily Italian.
Smokey Joe's on Darien/Stamford border closing?
Back to the OP. All I have to say is "Please close the place and replace it with something... anything decent...." I have an office in the buildings nearby and we are in desperate need of a restaurant within walking distance.
Announcement: New Board Breakdown for Chowhound
I agree 100%. Why not give FFD County its own board, or couple it with Southern Westchester County NY? The number of posters and restaurants in these areas should deserve a second look (and thier own board).
Palm Beach Area Lunch?
NY Tri-State here..(I see JFood posted recently too). Going to be down in Palm Beach for a day and am looking for a place with really good food where the wife and I can sit outside eat and have a few cocktails. For us, really good service and quality food in a relaxed environment is most important (Price isn't too much of an issue). All types of cuisine welcome. Sorry I can't give you a reference of types of restaurants I tend to like in the area (haven't been there before).
Staying on Palm Beach and will have a car.
Thanks!

Chicken fingers good enough to serve a swarm of toddlers?? (Westchester)
I don't know where you are in Westchester, but if conveneint I would order a tray from Garden Catering. There are a couple of locations in Port Chester and Greenwich
Anniversary dinner w/kids in Greenwich
Your children aren't too young that kid-friendly should be as big issue unless they don't like certain foods.
Solaia or Pierangelo on the avenue would also be a choice for Italian.
L'Escale (as previously mentioned)
Greenwich Tavern - walkable from the Hyatt
Columbus Park Trattoria in Stamford in not far from the Hyatt (as far as Greenwich Ave but in the other direction) - Many other Stamford choices are as close as Greenwich ave from the Hyatt.
Have a great time!
Old Greenwich, Ct.- Where are the Good eats?
The list supplied by debmom is a good starter for you.
If you are going to be staying at the Hyatt and looking for places close by you have the Greenwich Tavern within walking distance. You can also walk to La Bretagne - maybe stop in for dessert and check it out. I haven't been there in a while but desserts were always good. Place probably hasn't been refurnished in 20+ yrs.
If you venture into Old Greenwich, Applausi is not bad (can get a little expensive once you add in wine, etc). Stay away by all means from the Beachhouse Cafe in OG, unless you are just stopping in for a drink/beer.
If you like french food, don't miss a trip to Jean Louis in downtown Greenwich (Lewis Street).
City Limits diner in Stamford is not too far from the Hyatt.

"Real" Pistachio Ice Cream in Westchester or Surrounding?
I like Longford's Pistacchio ice cream - we go to the shop in Old Greenwich. I think there is one in Rye too
FFD County - Ice Cream
Not homemade ice cream but "smaller" production is Longford's in Old Greenwich, and then a Gelato option at Darlene's just further down the road ice ceam - not homemade either.
Little Italian Restaurant - Byram Closing
That Little Italian Restaurant in Byram will be closing this Sunday after 29 years. It will be replaced by an "upscale" CB5 Group (Mexican restaurant). Reported this morning in the Greenwich Time. Paolo Vitiello (The owner) is retiring.
Best Fish market in Stamford
Love the smoked marlin and pickled jalapenos. Guests always love it and would never guess it was marlin.
Silvermine Tavern to close?
It seems odd that the owner won't comment on the closing until after today (last brunch). The property has been for sale for a while... I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
