Lou Mitchell's

Taking visiting relatives out for an iconic Chicago breakfast. We've narrowed it down to Lou's and Sweet Maple Café. Is Lou's still crazy busy on a Sunday morning around 11? Any other ideas? Don't want to spend a lot so brunch at Sixteen is out :) Thanks.

2 days in Memphis (and 1 in Senatobia, MS)

Thank you. We were there this morning. I had the sampler and my wife had the bacon, egg, cheese biscuit. It was great. We also got a berry cobbler, a brownie and two cinnamon rolls to go. I highly recommend.

Could you also suggest a breakfast place or two? We'll be at the Beale st. Holiday Inn but can drive anywhere. Thanks.

Lexus Club United Center

Dinner before the show tomorrow. Incredibly, I can find nothing but a bar menu anywhere on the internet. What will dinner be like? Actual menu or buffet only? Thanks.

Brindelle or Sixteen?

Wife's birthday dinner. Been to Sixteen but its been five or so years. Never to Brindelle. Would the cost of dinner be about the same? Which restaurant would you go to?

Piccolo Sogno

Thanks all, the weather seems to be clearing for tonight. We may still wear our galoshes and raincoats :)

But there are a lot of patio tables. What if everyone wants to move inside on a packed Saturday night during a drenching thunderstorm?

Piccolo Sogno

We have reservations this Saturday and have requested a patio table. I'm just wondering what happens if it rains. Do they have a roof of some sort over the patio?

Gene and Georgetti vs Erie Cafe for steak

By all means go. If you want to waste money on crappy service and worse food.

Best french bistro (Bistro Campagne? Bistrot Margot?Chez Simo Bistro?)

Nsxtasy pretty much nails it. Le Bouchon. I think that it has more of a "bistro" look and feel to it. There is, however, one very important distinction between Le Bouchon and La Sardine. The Chocolate Souffle. They serve it only at La Sardine. It is the finest in the city. Eating it, you will feel like you have died and gone to souffle heaven.

Siena Tavern or Cicchetti

We just ate there last night. It was our fourth time. I am always impressed with how professional and knowledgeable the staff is. The food, as always, is delicious. Fabio was in the house so we got to say hi. We really like this place. Have not been to Cicchetti.

B'fast near Hotel Chicago

Used to be Hotel Sax but am looking for breakfast near the hotel. Would like to stay away from overpriced hotel breakfasts but if that is all there is, What's best? Thanks.

Italian Beef Sandwich--Where do you go for your favorite?

The best isn't actually in Chicago but in very nearby Elmwood Park on North Ave. Johnnie's Beef. The fries are great. If you want some sausage with your beef, get a combo and don't forget to order either juicy.

Need a spot near O'Hare to meet friends before their flight tomorrow. Not an IHOP or a place with much of a wait. Thanks!

Gluten-free deep dish...does this exist? Other GF options?

We took my Sister-in-Law to Hub 51 and she loved it. Give their menu a look, there was a lot of GF food there.

Killarney dinner

Just need a few restaurant options to choose from as we'll only be there one night. Mid-range in price, native cuisine. A good nearby pub for an after dinner pint would be great too!

Seafood/fish: Catch 35 and Shaw's

I'm not sure what you mean by "grungy" or "shabby" as such restaurants would probably be shut down for health code violations but if you want old and or authentic perhaps you should dine at Calumet Fisheries. Great atmosphere and nothing beats eating in your car or on the hood. Also, Troha's Chicken and Shrimp is also excellent. Newer but also great places would include New England Seafood Company and also Big and Little's. By the way, "Lettuce" restaurants have great reputations. Perhaps you've heard of Everest or Tru?

Anniversary Dinner in October?

Go with North Pond. Our anniversary is in Oct. as well and we've gone there several times over the years to celebrate. It's a wonderful place to eat and the setting is just perfect. The weather's getting cooler, the leaves are changing color and it's dark enough that you can enjoy the view of downtown as you stroll the short distance(the cab lets you out and it's a two minute walk into the park)to the restaurant.
Stay at the Dana Hotel. Ten minute cab ride.
Reserve now. Call. Ask to be seated in the front room. Tell them it's your annv. I like to "dress up" for occasions as well and no one there will mind. In fact, I feel that you get better service that way than the guy in a seed cap and jeans( an example only. No one will be dressed like that there). The last time we went service was excellent but it's been two years. I wouldn't worry though, if there were service issues, word would get out. Of the four restaurants listed, I think N.P. will be the quietest but certainly not quiet like Alinea or so. On the other hand, Blackbird can be very loud.
North Pond is an excellent choice. You'll enjoy the Dana as well.

no reservations?

ASAP. GATG only reserves 3 months in advance on Open Table BUT...you can call them and get a res further out than 3 months.

Most places only take reservations 3 months out and if the restaurant is hot, don't wait a day past that mark to reserve. That said, always call if you can't get a table from Open Table.

The Gage

Love it. Lively atmosphere, great food, can be crowded but you should be ok since you will be going early. Make a reservation. If you prefer something calmer than a gastropub, try next door at Henri...also owned by the Gage people.

Last Minute Trip to Chicago This Weekend - Are There Any Must Try Dishes I'm Missing?

Single, bacon, egg. The Little Three Happiness board. Not saying it was a bad burger by any means, I just thought there was too much salt.

Last Minute Trip to Chicago This Weekend - Are There Any Must Try Dishes I'm Missing?

A word of caution...Au Cheval. Just two weeks ago I had the burger and this was my reaction. 1st bite...hmmm nicely salted. 6th bite....this is a lot of salt. Last 1/2 of burger...I can't feel my tounge. If your friend thinks GAGT oversalted their food, just wait. I see a lot of comments about AC overusing the salt shaker. Just sayin'. I imagine it helps them sell more beer!
