creole cajun recommendations
Big fan of Angeline's also; everything I've had there was outstanding. I also want to recommend Brenda's in the Tenderloin (SF): the gumbo there is deeply satisfying, the grits are some of the best I've ever had, and they make wonderful beignets (the crawfish beignets are the best). Be warned, though, it's tiny and fills up fast.
