Maine - Good, Bad, or Eh...ok?

Shaw's Wharf! Yum! I've only ever had fish and chips, but everything else looks good too. It's also nice to actually be able to smell the ocean.

Which Pat's? I haven't been to the one in Ellsworth for 20 years or so... but I have noticed that the parking lot is always full, so they must be doing something right. I do like the Pat's in Orono and Hampden. The problem is, if I'm in Ellsworth, how could I not go to Finellis!?

I only lived in BH last year, so I had never really eaten at restaurants there before then. (We always try to avoid downtown BH if at all possible.)

Mystic/Groton CT with high school kids?

I'm taking a group of 8 high school kids (ages 17-18) on a field trip to Mystic in a few weeks. I don't think any of them have really been to New England before (we're coming from PA and some are international students), and I'd like to take them somewhere inexpensive, but also delicious. (i.e. not McDonalds)

We're looking for lunch on Saturday in Groton, and for dinner on Sunday we probably need some sort of take-out near Mystic that they can eat in the van. (The other meals are taken care of. I'm not starving them.)

Caveats: not Mystic Pizza (but good pizza is OK); and the kids are paying for these two meals, so inexpensive is very important.

Are there any seafood places that fit the bill? (I know seafood is expensive, but I'm not looking for oysters or fancy sushi or anything. Just fresh fish.)

Thanks!

I too like Cleonice in Ellsworth, but it's not my favorite.

Things to add, that I don't think have been mentioned yet:

Bagel Central in Bangor - been around for a really long time, jewish deli, good soups (and bagels!)

Finelli Pizza in Ellsworth (also in Bgr, but Ells. location is better) - delicious thin crust pizza. I've met people there who drive from Machias just for the pizza.

Beale Street Barbeque in Bath - yummy pulled pork, french fries, cornbread, and fizzy lemonade! (also in Portland and August, but I've only been to Bath)

Guiness & Porcelli's in Bar Harbor - if you want to go that far. Delicious fancy Italian. And largish portions. (compared to most other fancy restaurants)

Thistle's in Bangor - fancyish, lots of business people there at lunch during the week
