Harvard Square: what's on your list?

Kaju Tofu House has great Korean soups, Cafe Pamplona is a nice funky lunch spot and the Beehive is a good place for drinks and live music. Crema Cafe for coffee.

lunch recommendation for out-of-town guests

Atwoods in East Cambridge has a great beer list, gorgeous outdoor space and awesome food.

I havent eaten at Daedalus in harvard sq, but the outdoor patio is really nice and the fact that Dylan and others played in the space (before it was Daedalus) might be cool for musicians.

Delivery for Inman Sq

Masala in Teele delivers to Inman, which (I think) is great. Rod Dee Thai in Porter will sometimes deliver to Somerville, it seems like it is a matter of how busy they are. And Zoes (Chinese) delivers. Those are probably the 3 favorites I have had delivered to Inman.

The Biscuit in Somerville?

Great fresh bread, good sandwiches and a really good kale salad. Also, they have a nice small outdoor area. And the owner has been a great supporter of making Somerville better for biking.

Looking for Nice Restaurant in Boston at $20/pp. Is that EVEN possible?

Casa Portugal in Inman/East Cambridge is a nice small Portuguese place that is pretty reasonable, really good food and a nice atmosphere of a local family restaurant.

Kennedy Fried Chicken

Not fried chicken, but my two favorite cheap chicken places are rotisserie, Alex's Chimis (make sure you get some vinegar onions) in Hyde Square JP and Machu Pichu Charcoal Chicken in Union Sq Somerville.

Globe reports Whole Foods looking to buy chunk of Johnnie's Foodmaster stores

I live near the Somerville location, which is walking distance to another Whole Foods, which is frustrating that our options are being reduced, like when Blockbuster took over video stores. Its fine that some people prefer Whole Foods, but its like Starbucks- do we need one on every block? The Beacon St Johnnies has a huge parking lot that is rarely even 1/3 full since most customers walk or bike, so I'm sure Whole Foods, whose customers are more the SUV type, liked that attribute.

26 Hours in Buenos Aries

I would also recommend trying helado (gelato/ice cream) in BsAs. My favorite place is Nonna Bianca in San Telmo, at Estados Unidos 425. Limon al pisco is particularly good. But the city is full of heladarias, they are very popular and tasty here. I would second La Gran Parrilla del Plata and try ordering provoleta as an appetizer, many parrilas have it, it is provolone cheese grilled on the parillla.

Help us find a Cozy Tavern!

Jame's Gate in JP is great, friendly, has a fireplace, and good food.

Great new Nepali / Indian restaurant in Somerville: Masala

This is one of our favorite new restaurants, along with nearby Istanbulu. We've been twice, once eating off the indian side, once off the nepali. Everything was great, especially:
Mo-mo chicken (nepali dumplings), dal makhani (lentils) & rojesh lamb. Naan is super fresh and tasty.

That is sad news, I loved Trinas and the side parlor was a great little spot, my neighborhood cocktail place. We need another sports bar like we need another Irish bar.

Dark and Stormy- summer of 2011

I really like making it with Goya ginger beer, it seems spicier/more gingerier to me and, as a bonus, is super cheap.

SELTZER HOME DELIVERY BOSTON

I know this is different, but after spending time in Buenos Aires we felt the same way, that we wanted seltzer with every meal, and settled on sodastream home seltzer maker. The hardware store in porter and the Boston Shaker in Davis carry them. Much less waste than buying disposable bottles.

Moving to Hyde Square - your advice requested

Alex's Chimi's for Dominican style rotisserie chicken, the thing I miss most about Hyde Square.

MIami restaurant for great Dominican/Cuban food, and nice cafe con leche. El Oriental de Cuba has a nice con leche too for your coffee needs.

A lot of friends have gone to the new Tres Gatos in the old Rhythm and Muse bookstore and dug the spanish tapas there.

I really like Sorellas for what it is, a cheap greasy breakfast joint. I think its best to stick to simple things like eggs and french toast.

Victoria Beer?

Anybody know if Victoria beer is available somewhere in near Cambridge/Somerville? I had it in Mexico and it was a tasty alternative there to Corona. I saw people saying it was recently made available in in the US in TX and Chicago. I know there are much better Mexican beers, but I liked it as a lighter summer beer and wanted to find it here. Thanks.

Anyone hear anything about Bull in Harvard Sq? They were supposed to open last summer, then fall, and they have a sign up but their website still just says coming soon. Seems like they are on floating rock time?

Good Mexican (I realize we're in a wasteland, lol)

Tu Y O outside Davis Square is really good.

Papagayo in Fort Point just opened, and while I haven't been a friend from Arizona loved it.

Venue space for rent where you can bring your own food?

We were looking into similar places and liked this, even though we ended up going elsewhere and renting a restaurant. Its where dancing on the Charles is held and they told us that we could bring food, and they have an alcohol license/bar.

Suggestions for intl' restaurants for long weekend in DC proper

Thanks, Etete sounds great. And yes, southern is definitely interesting to us, 2 in our group are originally from Alabama. Any suggestions for southern?

Suggestions for intl' restaurants for long weekend in DC proper

We will be staying around embassy row, without car. We would like to explore some of the unique ethnic restaurants in DC, or just ones that DC does well. I have heard great things about the Thai and Ethiopian, and hoping to find a great burmese. Open to other stuff too, just not too fancy and ideally on the metro/walking distance from embassy row.
thanks

who makes the the best frozen (for cooking at home) Chinese dumplings?

I've been getting them from some of the Chinatown markets, I think its CMart. The brand is Chinese Spaghetti Factory, 50 pack. They are almost as good as Wangs frozen, but less expensive and easier to pick up after work. A friend said his grandmother made dumplings by boiling the water, dropping the dumplings in, then when it comes to boil again drop a cup of water in, and repeat when it boils again, then strain after it boils. We make the sauce with rice vinegar, soy sauce, a little sesame oil and chives.
