Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich?

Carl's Jr. is advertising those biscuits as "made from scratch."

Is the Apple Pan Worth a Visit

I say, "Hell, no."

The Hickory Burger did taste pretty good. I like their "own sauce" and the fact that I could add onions (the stupid Chick-Fil-A didn't even have onions on the premises). I did suffer sticker shock - Menu Pages listed the Hickory Burger at $5.00, and at the actual price of $6.75, it's over 3 1/2 times as much as an Inn-N-Out single burger which is about the same size and just as tasty. Available at the Elephant Bar during Happy Hour (and late night Happy Hour) is a combo special: an excellent burger that is roughly 3 times bigger than Apple Pan's plus fries plus a small craft beer for $7.50.

The banana cream pie was excellent and it was mostly sliced bananas, not sugar, flour and eggs. Was it worth $5.75? I'd say it's a better value than the burger.

However, when I was there today (Sunday early afternoon) every seat was filled and there were plenty of people waiting. Lots of people obviously love it.

FOODIE ON A DIET :( ... Need Healthy Restaurants

Junk carbs are much worse for you (or anybody) than fat. I recommend any good Indian restaurant and just skip the naan and the white rice.

Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles Questions

I just checked their website. Now a side of greens and a single waffle are each $4.60. For $9.20 I guess I'd rather eat elsewhere and get more food.

Loud and louder restos: Maybe I'm getting old, but...

I walked into the Buffalo Wild Wings by the AMC 16 in Burbank, intending to check out the menu. It was so noisy that I left after 30 seconds.

Anyone tried Coolhaus New Fried Chicken and Waffle Ice Cream Flavor?

Maybe I'm showing my age, but I HATE that website.

Road food for Vegas Trek?

That's a killer sandwich.

Anyone knows what's the marinade on the chicken of Dino's in Pico Los Angeles?

I've never been to Dino's, but I love the Chicken Piri-Piri plate at Springbok (Victory Blvd. @ Woodley). The chicken breast filets are slathered in that wonderful sauce and they are served over fries. Yummy!!!

2012 RESTAURANT SEDERS???

This website lists Spago ($175) and Street ($55). It's dated 3-26-12, so it's current.

no salt added cottage cheese?

Here's a link to Friendship Dairies' "Where to Buy" page which might not be up-to-date since it includes Whole Foods:

Awesome news for ramen lovers in the Valley!!

The article is incorrect. 15030 Ventura Boulevard is 2 blocks east of Sepulveda.

Studio City/NoHo on a budget

I also recommend Puro Sabor and Skaf's Grill.

Great croissant in Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Noho, etc?

La Galette is listed at armeniandirectory.com.

Keith Gilabert: Dan Tana's Offers Old Hollywood Charm and Great Food!

We had our holiday office party there again this year. The food was even blander this time. I long for the good old days when our company was riding high and held the holiday office party at Spago's.

We All Enjoyed Bar Celona

I had lunch there on Monday with four of my relatives. The restaurant is modern with glass and chrome decor. I liked the high ceiling.

We had mostly tapas - castellana paella, oyster & cremini mushrooms, asparagus with an orange-colored sauce, blistered padron peppers, two orders of patatas bravas, a grilled peach salad, and lamb sausages with cannelini beans. We had one bottle of San Pellegrino and one green tea, plus two desserts - crema catalana custard and a small molten chocolate cake dish. The bill including tax was under $100.00.

We each enjoyed every dish. It was my first time for tapas, so I had no basis for comparison. My brother and his wife had them at several other places locally, and he even had them in Spain ( which might have them at a restaurant or two). He offered the most praise.

I might never go back just because of the trek (I live in Van Nuys and take the bus), but it's nice to know of one place that serves a tasty paella portion for one.

Singaporean Food in LA Anyone?

I am quite happy with Singapore's Banana Leaf. I have ordered the tuna sambal spicy several times and it has never been too mild.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I would appreciate recommendations for CC cookies with nuts (macadamias, pecans, walnuts, etc.).

where can i get these cinnamon sugar buns?

I've never had an orange cinnamon bun, but they sound delicious.

800 degrees crust

That certainly makes me more inclined to visit.

Banh Mi in Reseda?

I've eaten at Sandwich Express two or three times. I've never been to Little Saigon, so I don't have anything to compare, but I have no complaints.

If I lived closer, I'd go more often.

Best Chopped liver in LA?

I went to Tatiana today and they had no chopped liver. I hope I didn't send anybody on a wild goose chase.

Best Chopped liver in LA?

I haven't had chopped liver from very many places, so my opinion is not that well-informed, but I do like Tatiana's in West Hollywood. It's Russian.

Downtown LA restaurant reviews

Second Gill's - yes, it has two "L's."

Chick Fil A Coming to Northridge!

I was walking by the Highland and Sunset branch and ordered the spicy chicken deluxe sandwich. I tried to add onions and was told they don't have them at all.

The sandwich was definitely spicy, probably the spiciest fast-food chicken sandwich I've ever had. It was OK, but I would have enjoyed it more with onions and some sort of sauce.

I'll probably have it again some day, but a five-year interlude won't bother me one bit.

Great croissant in Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Noho, etc?

Shalom says, "Hello" to non-Kosher items.

Super Pollo Van Nuys is reborn as Takatis Pollos a la Brasa...and well worth a visit

Melanie, maybe what I remembered as orange was actually orangish-red. It's been a few weeks since I was there.

Super Pollo Van Nuys is reborn as Takatis Pollos a la Brasa...and well worth a visit

IIRC, there were two sauces served with the chicken: a green one and a light orange one. Both were good and I used a lot of each.

Dang, now I'm hungry and it's 11:15 P.M.

800° Degrees Pizza is now officially open for business - YAY!

A wheat product cooked at 800 degrees sound a lot like naan, and the bubbles reinforce that thought.
