A tree grows in Herringbone...
The place actually looks great, glad they have kept the rustic feel (although there are a couple of spots over the entrance that look a little hazardous). I have seen quite a bit of media on the Friday opening. We will give it a couple of weeks to settle in. Let us know if you try it out!
GREAT SPOTS IN PACIFIC BEACH TO EAT
Really love The Fishery (despite the similarity in names, it is a completely different vibe and place than PB Fish Shop).
what's new and exciting?
Gorton's Fisherman sighting at Red Sails - LOL. I think they stuffed him into that old diving suit and mummified him.
san diego--business/client dinner
Staying here now. Piano bar gone for quite awhile. Tonight's musical entertainment was a long-haired, hippie-dude singing Neil Young, James Taylor & Michael Franks. Peace out.

IMHO, I think the food tastes exactly the same at all of the locations (which means it is good, but lacking in many respects, having said that - I am particularly picky). However, I feel that the service is great, and the atmosphere in Coronado is beautiful and very conducive to business. Great bar for pre-dinner cocktails or after dinner drinks! La Jolla location is closing sometime between next week and August 1st (they are not sure when the new occupant's deal with the landlord will go through).

In Coronado: Primavera, Vigalucci's for upscale Italian with a biz friendly environment. 1500 Ocean at the Hotel Del, very upscale seafood, with other options. Also offers a tasting menu.
Reuben E. Lee
Not forgotten. I believe that the Dowager Bahia Belle is still "tooling" around Mission Bay, offering "Murder Mystery Dinners" and the like. Maybe even Mother's Day Brunch. Maybe Mrs. FN would would like such a mom's day adventure? ;D
Reuben E. Lee
I read (maybe a couple of years ago) that the Cohn's had an option on it and were looking into if it was viable to bring it back to life as a new dining concept. Not sure how an immobile paddle boat could fit in that category.
Reuben E. Lee
Just curious, anyone know what happened to the old Reuben E. Lee? I was at C-Level restaurant this weekend and the creaky, old girl has vanished, although I'm sure ghosts of rehearsal dinners past are still lurking around.
View lunch in La Jolla?
The pack patio of the Mediterranean Room at La Valencia is lovely, and quiet.
Depending when your mother will be visiting, Eddie V's will open early for the first time to serve brunch on Mother's Day. They plan to begin weekend lunch service on May 19th, but the date is not set in stone.
Agree with BC, silliest move by a restaurant ever to not serve lunch with the $$$ they put into that space (including terrific outdoor spaces). We were talking to the former owners of the former Trattoria Acqua who agrees, he thinks the view far surpasses George's.
San Diego New Places Opening Thread Numero Tres.
Are they affiliated with the owners of Baci? On closer inspection:

On a separate note, since you are the CH eyes and ears for Mission Hills...any idea when Brooklyn Girl will begin lunch service?
San Diego New Places Opening Thread Numero Tres.
Drove by that this afternoon. Looks like your speculation might be right, pretty expensive looking build out going on.
A tree grows in Herringbone...
I guess I believe them, but it sure doesn't look anywhere close to being done.
ROADTRIP from SD to Austin Texas
Alpine has one of the finest restaurants in that part of the state (and a fabulous sister restaurant in Fort Worth.

Graduation Lunch
Would that be part of the Atoll restaurant. Haven't been there in years, sounds like a great place on a sunny day.
Brooklyn Girl- early review
I am SO happy to hear a positive review from my friend with very refined standards. I really want this place to work for these people (particularly Mike and Victoria McGeath. We were just talking about Brooklyn Girl tonight and I thought we should give them a couple of weeks to work out the usual restaurant opening kinks. Glad that at this infant stage, the restaurant shows promise. Thanks for the report Mr. Name.
Carnitas tacos recipe in the current SDHG mag???
The Del Real Carnitas are pretty darn tasty...and an easy "cheater" dinner on a busy night. Coincidentally, I just read about a regional specialty from the Houston, TX area that I had never seen before: Enchiladas Verdes with Pork Carnitas as the filling. Taking a swing at that recipe next week.
Quiet dining in North County
George's has introduced a new concept that they are very proud of called TBL 3, and from what I understand they need at least a 2-week notice. It is 12-14 courses, specifically designed for each group. $170 per person, $250 pp with wine pairings. Haven't personally tried it (no special occasions and pockets aren't currently that deep lately), but I have heard great things!
Coronado Eats?
Pretty tasty food and and beer selection at Leroy's Lounge, grab a table by the open windows at lunch. There are a couple of new taverns that we have yet to try.
seeking loud loud restaurant
Want to love the place but I think that maybe, for some reason, we are not seated in the "preferred tables" section at CU. Every time we dine there we are surrounded by tables of screaming, drunk, cackling "woo-hoo" girls. ;(
Coop's BBQ (Lemon Grove)?
$30 of BBQ at Coop's for $15.

+1, and I would add Cucina Urbana during the same hours.
Point loma sandwich shop?
Hah! My husband's grandson is named after Pearson's at the fuel dock. ;D No...seriously.
