Best King Cakei in Austin?
Anyone Know Where I can get a REEEAALLLYY GOOOOOD King cake? I heard Sweetish Hill does one, but it doesn't sound like a New Orleans style.
Bagels.
I went by there today and got an everything bagel. It was delicious...chewy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bagel had sesame, poppy, sunflower seeds, garlic, onion, caraway and salt on both sides, not just the top. The only downside was it took a little while to toast the bagel. They have three cream cheeses :plain, roasted garlic, and honey, walnut raisin. So far the best bagel I have had in Austin. (I havent tried Rockstar as they don't have a storefront) I took a photo with my phone...can i upload it somewhere?
Bagels.
I was in Bakerman's today and they told me that they were going to start making Bagels....from scratch next week. I asked if they were boiled or steamed. They said boiled. I hope that they live up to what a bagel should be. There don't seem to be any good local bagel places.
Is there good bread in Austin ?
Not a big fan of Great Harvest, all of their bread is "squishy". Bakerman's has a decent loaf (they sell it wholesale but usually have a few loaves left in the back). You have to ask for it specifically to see if they have any left.
Wedding in Pflugerville - Where to Eat?
El Rincon is great Mexican food, but it is not "fine dining" by any means. In fact, it looks a bit run down, but the food is very good and affordable.

Sushi in North Austin & RR
I usually to to Orgami for good sushi in RR and have been to Beluga (overpriced and just average) but want a change. I would like to try something new. Does anyone know anywhere else that I can go for sushi in RR or North Austin?
Places to buy Pies
I have eaten at the Texan Cafe. A bit disappointing as they do not use real whipped cream. Almost all of their pies have whipped topping that sticks to the roof of your mouth! YUK
Cupprimo Cupcakery & Coffee
I had a cupcake from Hey Cupcake, and thought it was dry. My favorite cupcake was from Bakerman's. They had a red velvet with cream cheese icing...YUMMY! Some days they have them on special for only $1. I have never heard of Cupprimo
An Austin Beer Thread
I would have to say the Draught House is a GREAT austin Gem! I love the variety! Nothing beats it!
Best Austin Cookie
I just had the triple chocolate cookie at Bakerman's downtown....OMG, it was the best cookie I had. White, Milk, and Dark Chocolate with Pecans. This is my new favorite.
What is everyone's favorite cookie in Austin and where can we get it?
Staying @ the Omni and don't want to drive
I would say fine dining for dinner definitely go to the Driskill Hotel Grill (Diagonal across 7th street) and for a quick breakfast or lunch (only a couple of seats outside) go to Bakerman's on 7th and Brazos (across the street)
Austin Chocolate Festival/Best Austin Chocolates
Did anyone go to the Austin Chocolate Festival a few weeks ago? I wanted to go, but couldn't get around to it. Was it any good? Who would you say had the best chocolates in Austin?
Best Desserts
Bakerman's has a rich dense Turtle cake. It is a chocolate cake with pecans, caramel and ganache.....YUM!
Custom-Decorated Cookies?
I know that Bakerman's, on 7th Street will do them. We had some made up for the office...nothing like 200. It was only 40 but they were nice. www.bakermansbakery.com
