WEST PALM BCH. Need clubhouse to rent and cater in own food

I was surprised to see the Boynton Beach clubhouse have expensive prices: a 4 hour event would be approx. $1,200 to rent the space. Any ideas where I could have a party for approx. 20 - 50 OR up to 100? Looking for something very nice, bright, clean etc... Seems like there are should be so many clubhouses available, but maybe most not for general public.

Calling all CAKE EXPERTS; is GENOISE the same as sponge cake?

I think I"m going to go with this recipe from Allrecipes. I tend to make myself nuts looking for the perfect recipe! It got good reviews and I like that website because you can change serving size. I did this for 40 servings. I'll add the ginger syrup, make the blueberry compote for the filling, and do the same not-to-sweet ginger/mascarpone frosting, with the blueberries. It's a BOY so the blue in the cake will work well for this baby shower! I'll post pics when it's finished! Wish me luck....

Ingredients:
4 cups sifted cake flour
1/2 cup white sugar
4 pinches salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted 16 eggs
2 cups white sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla extract

Directions:
You have scaled this recipe's ingredients to yield a new amount (40). The directions below still refer to the original recipe yield (10).
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 8 inch round cake pan. Line with parchment paper and grease it as well. Lightly flour pan and paper.
2. Sift together the flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt onto a piece of wax paper.
3. Place the eggs into a mixing bowl set over a pan of hot (not boiling) water. Add the 1/2 cup sugar to the eggs and whisk until the mixture feels warm (not hot) to the touch, about body temperature. Place the bowl onto a mixer and beat on medium speed until the mixture becomes pale yellow in color and falls off the end of the whisk attachment in long ribbons. Add the vanilla. Add about 1/3 of the flour mixture to the beaten egg and fold in. Continue to add the remainder of the flour, folding it in each time.
4. Place about 1 cup of the batter into the bowl containing the melted butter and combine the butter with the batter. Add this back to the main batter and fold it in. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
5. Immediately bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 25 minutes or until the top is a light brown. Cool in pan on a rack about 10 minutes and then invert onto a rack. It is best to invert it again onto another rack so that it cools with the top up. Let cool completely before cutting or frosting

Trying to make the following recipe and need to convert it from metric, so looking for best recipe (GENOISE or SPONGE) to adapt with the ginger syrup. It's for a shower and needs to only feed 30 people.

"and we're all out of CAKE!" NEED BEST GENOISE/SPONGE recipe to create my vision.

I am trying, of course, to make "the best cake ever" but always end up over my head. I love the idea of this blueberry/ginger cake, and it's beautiful - BUT do not feel like going thru the risk of converting it from metric.

http://www.poiresauchocolat.net/2010/...

I am looking for a moist cake that won't fall apart. I'd like to infuse it with the ginger syrup as in this recipe, use the cream cheese/mascarpone icing and top with the blueberries. It's for my daughters shower and I need to feed approx. 50 people.

My go to standard cake has been Ina Gartens Beatty's Chocolate Cake, I fill with berries cooked down with some sugar, add a yummy espresso/chocolate cream cheese frosting - not too much sugar - and top with fresh berries. I want something different for this party!

SO - any delicious plain cakes out there, I can dress up on my own? I don't have enough experience with either the genoise or sponge cakes.

Boynton - Ft. Lauderdale FUN & DELICIOUS FOR 15 crazy women?

Soph had been to Dada with her previous boyfriend a few times, and I think she thought it was too casual, not really sure, she was the one that nixed that, not me! I don't remember looking at Tryst??? I'll have to do that!! BUT....I have good news haha! We went to the dress fitting in Deerfield last night so decided to stop by Cabana - oh my gosh, we fell in love with it!! First, the menu fits what her menu is in Key West, second, the private room is GORGEOUS!!! I love that it's not too far from the bar so you don't feel sequestered from the restaurant. And the food, the seared shrimp, scallop salad with avocado's and tomatoes was delicous and the guava mojito's too - even though I'm not crazy about sweet drinks. THAT said, the gold sangria was to die for, champagne, brandy, and whatever else was in it that I can't remember... was delicious without being too fruity. (And when you're done, you have all that fresh fruit to eat!) She got the seviche and loved it, hmmmm....it was good, but I like that tart citrus flavor to a raw seviche, theirs is cooked slightly due to safety issues. We might not get the private room, it's currently booked but the manager is bending over backwards to help accomodate us, everyone was super friendly and helpful. Sophia was thrilled, she said "it's PERFECT, you did a good job!" Our only argument, was I want to pre-order, family style for the table and she thinks everyone should order themselves, 4 people to a check. My point is I want to taste a little of more, not order one or two things, right?!?!

Thanks everyone for suggestions; it was only due to this site that I found the perfect place. :o)

on no, I completely understand, but they rented a limo, and no one will be driving and believe me, these girls aren't the "girls gone wild" types; they are new moms, and hard working girls. It's not a "loud" party they are looking for - just not a quiet, formal dining room. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, it's been a big help, I appreciate it.

Thank you, thank you...yep those would be GREAT places. But.....:o) Soph works next door to Vic and Angelo's on PGA Blvd so goes there for lunch alot...Aaaaaaaaand Taverna Opa opened in Cityplace and they've all been there too. In their words "we don't want to go somewhere we could go anytime for a birthday dinner or something, we want it to be 'special' " IF it were that easy, that I could pick a place in West Palm, I'd do Carousel Can Can - sounds fun, hip and I like the menu.

Boynton - Ft. Lauderdale FUN & DELICIOUS FOR 15 crazy women?

HAHA! You guys are going to be DONE with me - I keep finding something wrong with every suggestion! :o( GOL looked really promising but there are just too many bad reviews out there for me to trust it. The bride has gone thru a few family tragedies in the last 2 monts, and she needs a really fun night out. SO - I keep searching for FUN atmosphere, with GOOD food. Max's seems promising too - but everywhere stresses that it's an older crowd, and these girls are 20 somethings. If I can get the reservation outside - then it's either Max's or Cabana El Rey. Any other suggestions out there? Funny, that the perfect place that has it all is SO hard to find!!

Looking for HELP w/ FUN and DELICIOUS place West Palm - Ft. Lauderdale

Carousel Can Can Café. Sounds awesome!! All the other places were veteo'd by everyone, I think they've been there too many times for it to be special, I think the girls were hoping for south of West Palm. ANYONE else ever heard of this place?

Looking for HELP w/ FUN and DELICIOUS place West Palm - Ft. Lauderdale

All ideas appreciated. Bride needs a fun night out for a bachlorette type party, too much stress, far too many sad events in her life lately so trying to help with a special dinner. I'd love a restaurant that would do something special - even a vist from the chef or anything along those lines. Would like to do Cafe Martorano but it's just too expensive unfortunately. It's for 12 friends and family, and just looking for a fun place with good food. Shouldn't be so hard huh!?!?!

FT Lauderdale - Bachelorette Party IDEAS?!?!

I live in Jupiter, so not as familiar with the area and don't have alot of time to find "the perfect place" so counting on you guys!

The girls want elegant, (saving Taverna Opa for another time!) cool food, a hip and really fun place - for about 8. Alot of people also say Chima but the pics don't make it look very comfortable for this group.
