Fresh Caramel Apples

You're the best Penny! Sounds like Wilson's has something like what I'm looking for! Hopefully they still do the fresh ones on the weekend!

ISO Fresh or Frozen Pasta

I've had several different types of Nella Pasta products and have LOVED every one of them. I haven't tried their beet flavored pastas, but I would be shocked if they were bad.

Fugakyu closed?

I heard reports this weekend that Fugakyu is closed due to Board of Health reasons? Does anyone know what is going on with that?

I did a search of the board but couldn't find anything...

ISO Fresh or Frozen Pasta

DePasquale's definitely has frozen stuffed pastas- I have a package to try but I haven't given them a go yet so I can't speak to their quality

Fresh Caramel Apples

Hi all

I have a bit of a "long shot" question. I was informed last night that somehere on Rt 2 (though possibly Rt 9) there is a farm stand that, during the fall months, makes fresh caramel apples to order. Apparently the spot is directly on the Rt- not an exit off of it.

I realize I'm not giving a lot of information here but does anyone have any thoughts on what place might do this?

Thank you so much!

BEST brunch in Boston?

Hi all

I am trying to find the spot for the best brunch in Boston. I am looking for a spot with great food, and an atmosphere conducive to conversation. My companion is staying in downtown Boston and I don't want to make them cross the river to Cambridge so Im looking for places in Boston proper. I've heard recs for Clink, and Eastern Standard. Anything else that's missed there? Anyone been to the jazz brunch at 75 Chestnut? Is it noisy and rowdy?

Thanks in advance- Im in a pickle!

Canadian Thanksgiving?

Thanks for the response. I'm from Boston as well and also celebrate in November, but a friend from Canada was looking for a place in Boston to celebrate the Canadian holiday. I've heard that Kinsale puts on something, I was hoping to get a few more options for her.

Canadian Thanksgiving?

Good morning!

Anyone know of restaurants in the Boston area serving anything special for Canadian Thanksgiving today?

Thanks all!

Lunch on the water in Boston?

Has anyone had a Lobster Roll at James Hook this year? They've been delicious in the past, and great for a picnic on the water, but I haven't had one this year...

August Openings and Closings

I checked out Back Bay Social Club last Thursday and gave a few of their apps a shot. I would advise waiting to check it out until the kinks are worked out....I couldn't recommend one item- but then that's to be expected at this point I suppose.

A line at Drink?! Come on!

I was also there on Saturday night- and it really wasn't a bad crowd at all- we sat for dinner immediately around 8 pm. Aside from a rowdy group on the patio next to us- it was a great evening there- and I finally tried the butterscotch bread pudding- WOW now I know why everyone loves it so!

Westford, MA

I can second both of these recommendations, also I think that the board has had positive experiences at Kimballs outdoor grill...I havent tried it personally.

Best Indian in Boston?

ugh-why didnt that come up for me? Thanks 9!

Best Indian in Boston?

Hi All

I did a quick search of the boards but I couldn't find anything too recent on the subject of Indian. I'm still learning the cuisine, so I have to ask- what is the BEST Indian restaurant in Boston proper/Brookline area?

Thank you!!!

Stay away from the Barking Crab

I second the suggestion for the James Hook Lobster Roll and keep on walking to BC for drinks.

What do you get at Kimball's?

I used to be a raspberry chocolate chip girl myself- but broke the habit. I love their grapenut, german chocolate fudge, their chocolate raspberry, chocolate peanut butter cookie dough and their vanilla peanut butter cup. OH-and their Vanilla Swiss Almond- no where else compares on that one.

In season I love their Pumpkin as well.

Unshucked Oysters

Whole Foods on Washington Street had them this weekend

canned tuna recipe?

I enjoy good canned tuna with zucchini and carrot "pasta"-long ribbons of both zucchini and carrots cooked quickly to look like pasta, tossed with a simple sauce of fresh herbs, garlic, tomatoes, black olives and tuna
My take on this dish can be found here: http://abostonfooddiary.blogspot.com/2010/01/zucchini-and-carrot-pasta.html

GIANT GLOBE ARTICHOKES AT TRADER JOE'S

Excellent info! Thanks all- I hope they are still there- I know what Ill be making for dinner tonight :-)

Johnnies on the Side and Blu

Glad you enjoyed Johnnies. Ive always had a good time there- solid food. I havent been in for a while, but the last time I was there was in November on a Saturday night and it was definitely very busy. Im trying to convince my BF that he wants to go there tonight for the Bruins- Ill let you know how it does game nights if I win :-)

SF chef in Boston one weekend- must go restaurants?

Some great options on this thread already- Id add Coppa to the list as well at least for their house made Salumi.

Otherwise Ill second Neptune Oyster and Erbaluce

Casual saturday lunch near Copley Place?

Within the Copley area you might want to check out Turner Fisheries which is in the Westin Copley for a nice seafood lunch. Parish Cafe is located on Boylston Street at the cross of Arlington. I have also had several relaxing lunches at Bouchee on Newbury.
Otherwise BB is on the right track with the South End- you'll find a large list of lovely restaurants with wonderful lunch menus.

GREAT LUNCH OUTDOORS?

there are some great options already listed- but I'd add getting burritos or tacos from Villa Mexico and sitting on the Charles. That's one of my favorite "outdoors" lunch places!

Visit to Boston near Charles Street

A great spot on Charles to just have a small plate and a great glass of wine is Bin 26 Enoteca- I prefer their small plates (especially their carpaccio) over most of their main dishes. Also- they have a beautiful Parmesan cheese that they serve with an aged Balsamic that is heaven :-)

For more of a lunch appeal- Panificio further towards MGH on Charles serves some of the best tomato soup in the city (in my opinion) and some tasty sandwiches as well.

Beacon Hill is a beautiful area- enjoy your stay!

Ice Cream Recommendations in Merrimack Valley?

I might be suffering from the delusion that inflation never touched good old Kimballs and the prices stayed the same from when I worked there. :-) But I thought it was a bit steep for ice cream. Either way- it wasn't prohibitive....at all.

Lunch in Boston on Friday afternoon...suggestions please.

Their lunch menu has panini and their pizzas on it...but yes it was probably more the "etc" and the "fantastic" that made me think Coppa would be a good choice :-)

Ill second Coppa- esp if you are looking for "fantastic". I always wish I worked closer to Coppa to take advantage of their lunch hours!
