Buying Fish In or Around New Canaan

We have fish at least three times a week and I would second the vote for Scott's Corner Market. I didn't realize they were supplied by New Wave, which would have been my next closest choice. If you are ever in Darien, the tuna at Palmer's Market is amazing. A little more money, but truly worth it. You can really taste the difference.

Harvest Supper--New Canaan

I went to Harvest Supper for lunch the other day. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, but I have to say it also has some weaknesses. The ingredients were unusual and fresh, but traditionalists may be a bit put-off by the extensive use of legumes and absence of potatoes! The plates are indeed small and expensive, but we all did the $25 three course (two savory and one sweet) tasting menu which was a bit more reasonable. The decor is rustic country and the chairs are a bit too rustic and uncomfortable. Be warned - there is no coffee or tea available!!! The service was very friendly, but did drag a bit throughout the meal. Grace Lamb was there and greeted us toward the end of the meal. There was no chocolate dessert listed on the lunch menu, but when I asked the waitress for something chocolate she produced the chocolate tart from the dinner menu. It was a dense chocolate truffle tart with hazelnut nougat (which I declined) and caramel "foam." The tart was good, but I would have preferred it with the more substantial and balancing creme fraiche than the fussy, airy foam. I would definitely return to Harvest Supper, but it would not be on a regular basis. Hope this helps.

Harvest Supper--New Canaan

In a strange coincidence, I just joined Chowhound so I could post the same question! The owners, Jack and Grace Lamb, live in Greenwich, but own Jewel Bako (and other restaurants) in NYC). So far, the only things I have heard about Harvest Supper is that you are supposed to order a bunch of "small plates" (which are indeed small) and sample several things. Prices are inversely proportional to the size of the plate, however. I am going for lunch tomorrow and hope to have more information for you. I will certainly let you know if there is a chocolate dessert!
