Thanks for all of your help! I am surprised this post has been restarted almost a year later, I was just about to say that we are going back this Friday so any more suggestions are welcome!!!!! We ate at some "mexican" restaurant last time, I think it was a chain.....can't remember the name but if I can avoid it I would like to.....my travellers just liked the gigantic margaritas that they had but I would like something different..

This restaurant has a sister restaurant in Burlington (where I live) called Stone House. Don't go for lunch.....only dinner. Dinner is fantastic.
Sterling Heights MI to Cleveland OH Road Trip need food suggestions asap!
Hey chowhounders, round two in the Detroit area in September. Got any suggestions for the best coney island place? Apparently its sacrilege that I have yet to eat there.

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the suggestions! Here's what went down on my trip around Lake Erie
Momocho-
grilled corn on the cob / chipotle + lime butter / cotija + pico--YUM
queso fundito / house made chorizo sausage / rajitas / corn tortillas-YUM
carnitas / adobo braised pork / honey-chipotle mojo-MEH
All in all a pretty cool looking joint (on the main floor...... the upstairs is weird) I wish i tried some of the guac but the hubster doesn't eat it.
We also visited the West Side Market and at in the cafe for breakfast. Quick and cheap. Typical breakfast (get the Canadian Bacon...DELISH)
I also got some jerky at czuchraj meats in the market and noshed on that for the next few days, thank god I brought a cooler as they don't have preservatives and need to be kept in the fridge!
Crazy good jerky, like a freakin steak! I wish we had a kitchenette in our hotel to heat up some of the mexican food they were selling at the market but alas we had to move on. To stay on the cheap, one meal we had was Sonic. Nothing special with the burger but the Cherry Limeade brought me back to my childhood! Delish!
Michigan our first stop was the Pupuseria Restaurant in Detroit. HOLY COW amazing. Hubster had 2 pork and cheese and one chicken and cheese. I had 2 pork and cheese and one bean, cheese and loroco. AMAZING! I was sad leaving that restaurant knowing that I can't have them again.....or at least for a while. I am planning to visit family again in MI, yes, that's what I will say the reason is! Not for the delicious mexican and el Salvadorean treats! lol We ate at the famed Loui's Pizza, yum! Whats up with all the Chianti bottles? The waitresses are hilarious and it was packed! On a Thursday night! Few restaurants in my area are ever that full on a weekday. We also went to Taquiera Lupita-Yum and super duper cheap! Couldn't believe my bill. I wish i could eat there every meal of the day. We then hopped down the street near the bridge to the Bakery..cant remember the name sorry. Had a good churro and picked up some varied sweets for snacks later. MY cousins took us to Greektown for dinner and were soooooooooooo excited to take us to Cyprus, only to find out it has been replaced with a BBQ restaurant. They were crushed. It seems the casino owns the strip and is forcing out all of the old restaurnats to bring in variety. We ate at another greek restaurant a few doors down (cant remember the name) and it was VILE. HOly cow was it bad, needless to say it ruined all of our nights. We also visited the bakery Athena or Adonis, (cant remember) and i got some baklava that was pretty good. We also ate at Beirut Palace in Royal Oak and got Bumpy Cake at some Candy shop attached to a huge restaurant with a purple sign. Cant remember, all a blur. It was pretty good cake, i wouldn't get it again. Well i think that tops off all the good. Again thanks for your help, if you are ever in my neck of the woods, let me know! The options are limited but good!

Ami-overrated and expensive, i felt sick after eating there too
Kenki-good, the couple that run it are totally sweet and the Tony Roll (the chef's creation) is awesome

Amazing Mexican Joints in Ontario?
In reply to Mex-I-Can My hub and I used to go to this place regularly but since they 'renovated' the menu has become more and more non-authentic. Yes their tortillas are tasty but shredded tex mex cheese on my food? WTF??!?!!

Sushi in Hamilton?
Sakai (burlington) IMHO is the best sushi I have found near hamilton. There is a fantastic sushi place in the Chinese City Centre in Mississauga in the food court. It is WORTH the DRIVE

Hello, I am travelling from Ontario, Canada to do some well needed shopping with some girls in early December......to avoid another Cheesecake factory outing (blech) I offered to do some research to find out what is great along the way. I am not familiar with the area at all (it's our first time!) but we will be driving and if it's great, I am sure I can talk the ladies into travelling for some good grub.
Nothing too expensive, would love some diners, drive ins and dives. Where MUST we go????
PS If there is awesome dim sum, please let me know! We are avid fans!
