Real vanilla extract in vanilla vodka?
I've heard of people making thier own Vanilla extract by putting a Vanilla Bean in a fifth of vodka and letting it cure for a couple of months.
Looking for great food in Charleston...
Favourites (and I'm a local) in the priority order:
1. Pennisula Grill (just perfect - you get what you pay for)
2. Magnolias
3. Cypress
Fav. Rooftop bar at Vendue - the one at Grill 325 has horrible waitstaff... horrible.. go to Vendue Inn - take the elevator and enjoy the ride!

OK - I'm orginally from Leesburg, VA, but split my time in Charleston (great food locale) and Pendleton... check out the Blue Heron (our fav in Clemson), Just More BBQ in Pendleton is a local favourite as well as the Sandwich Shoppe on the Square. Pot Belly Deli is great. Sullivan's in Anderson has been featured in Southern Living and Sullivan's Cafe is great. I'm hearing good things about Halfway to Havana in Anderson and look forward to checking it out this week. Welcome to Tigertown! BTW... MAC's is an institution and Columbo's is slow but the cheeseburger pizza rocks (to go). There are lots of farmers markets... check out Kathy's Produce on 76 and a farmers market (orangic Clemson Farmers Market on-campus on Wednesdays as well as a farmers' markert on the town square in Pendleton on Saturdays from 9-1) near the old stone church. Ethic grocery stores... yeah... you'll need to go to Greenville for that or learn to order stuff online. Other farmers markest include the Jockey Lot (google it- it's a cultural experience and always has fresh produce) Trust me... Tigertown is great - you'll love it... I do - be there Friday!

First time in Austin - for 5 days? Where to dine?
Looking for suggestions for the best and most cultural places to eat! Please suggest - and tell me where and why! Cheers!
Charleston Cheap Eats
i agree with Blvd. Diner with one exception...they changed (and not for the better) thier country fried steak recipe... have been lobbying for about a year to get them to bring back thier old recipe. Boo hiss... the new one, just doesn't cut the mustard.
Restaurant Recommendations for Lebanon/Hershey PA
Please advise...I'll be travelling to the area the first full week of Jan... would appreciate a couple of non-chain restaurant recommendations.
NYD Breakfast in Jacksonville, FL
We're heading down to Jacksonville for NYE... any ideas on where to hit for Breakfast... we're going to the Gator Bowl so we won't have a ton of time, but would like to get in a good breakfast to make 2009 devine. Thanks for your comments/suggestions/ideas. Go Tigers!
Looking for great food in Charleston...
local here... welcome to our City. Our favs are Pennisula Grill, Cypress, Magnolia's and SNOB (Slightly North of Broad). You won't go wrong at any of these. SNOB offers a walk in chef's selection in the back (highly recommend that). Charleston is culinary mecca... enjoy it and soak it in. Just beware that the rooftop bar at the French Quarter in has great views but horrible customer service... they are slow and always pay cash not credit... it may be hours before you get your order right and your card back. The rooftop bar at Venue is our fav along with the Blind Tiger on Broad.
For great breakfast or cheap eats (with great homestyle Southern food) try Boulevard Diner in Mt. Pleasant.
Breakfast in Charleston
Never been (and I'm a local) to Joseph (appeals to tourists) but check out Hominy Grill - you won't be disappointed.
Fredericksburg Area -Business lunch near interstate 95
Not seeking chain restaurants... any local mom and pops?
Deep Fried Turkey
Do it yourself... it's easy - but I'm a Southerner! checkout southernliving.com for directions and injections solutions... yum!
Desperatly seeking edible food in Mcallen, Texas
Also - whilst in South Texas I hopped across the border at Progreso, just south of Weslaco (go to the border, pay to park $2 and then walk across - don't drive you'll have to have other insurance for your rental car and it's a hassle) tolls to take the walking bridge are $.25 to leave the US and $.30 to leave Mexico, make sure you bring your passport and a shopping bag for any treasures you find. In Mexico, are tons of authentic taco stands and a great full service fives star looking restaurant that I can't think of the name of on the left hand side. (will look back at my expense reports and see what I can find).

Check out the Mustard Seed and Boulevard Diner too! The BoatHouse is at BreechInlet off of IOP and Dunleavy's on Sullivan's is an institution. Atlanticville has great food too as well as Long Island Cafe!
Poe's is great for drinks at any time!
