I like the F and C at Coopers Inn on Lake City Way. It's beer battered, and the most reminiscent of the good versions I've had in England. Some Seattle restaurants do a breaded version, which just seems wrong to me. |

Anniversary Dinner- Crush vs Le Gourmand or. . . Of the two, I'd recommend Le Gourmand. The food is very good at both places, but Le Gourmand has a softer more romantic atmosphere, while the decor at Crush is a bit Clockwork Orange. Le Gourmand has a lingering pace, so expect lots of time for conversation. One of my favorite aspects of eating there is that they always have local ingredients that you don't see everywhere (e.g. nettles, tay berries). Also, the sauces are always fantastic. At Crush the pace is quicker and the food is more modern, but also very well crafted. And I always love eating at Cafe Juanita. It's always better than I expect, even though my expectations are high. The whole roasted fish and the octopus are favorites. |

Thanks everyone. We went to Vij's last weekend and got there about 9:00 on Friday, and had a table by 10:00. As promised, the bar was a great place to wait. And the food was worth waiting for. My favorite was the Punjabi heart attack. |

I'll be in Vancouver this weekend, and I'd like to take the advice of the many, many hounds who have recommended Vij's. Their website says the serve dinner from 5:30. And their phone message says 5:30 "onwards." Does any one know when they stop seating? I'd like to try to get in later in the evening. |
