Is Speed's open today (any confirmations)??

I've celebrated several of the last Red Sox's Opening Days with a Speed's Dog on lap and radio in car. Its quite a hike from Metro West, but a man has his priorities. before I schlep into town, can anyone confirm he's open today (and not hibernating from the snow)??

Burlington ideas for special birthday party

15 of us (8 adults, 7 kids under 12) are taking my Dad out for a 70th birthday celebration. Burlington (or thereabouts) is the ideal geography. Looking for good food (doesn't need to be gourmet), with private room (for toasts, some singing, party decorations). Party is December 5th - coming up SOON! But we can eat early, 5pm or so. I'd be very grateful for any ideas!

Summer Shack (Alewife) Again

I have to agree: the pan roasted lobster is simply fantastic. Give the man some credit for this dish, if nothing else. (BTW - had the hot lobster roll at Neptune's today - out of this world).

is Four Burgers in Central Sq open yet?

Had the turkey burger for lunch Friday - was good, particularly with the cranberry chutney. Not sure if it's worth a special trip into Cambridge, but it should do well with the locals.

Chinatown suggestions for young kids

My wife and I celebrate our anniversary each year by bringing our 3 daughters out for dinner. Each year we try a different food/geography combo. (One year we had a Japanese dinner at Fugakyu, another year Italian food in the North End at Il Panino). This year we promised we'd go to Chinatown. Here is the challenge: my kids' concept of Chinese food is typically suburban. I want to expand their horizons without overwhelming them. I eat in Chinatown for lunch on a weekly basis and love experimenting, but I don't trust myself to find a suburban-kid-friendly place. Any Chowhound suggestions??

ISO Smoked Fish....

If you're close to the Waban area of Newton, can highly recommend the smoked fish from Barry's. Wonderful sable, whitefish/chubs, many different lox cuts...

Breakfast

I agree. I have been to J&M dozens of times and can vouch for it. Great breakfasts and lunches. Expect to wait on weekend mornings. Ask for Libby, one of the waitresses - she's very nice.

Sox Opening Day Lunch

Any Financial District suggestions for a great place to watch the opening ceremonies & first pitch of tomorrow's Red Sox opener?

Chacarero wait times

Just had my first Chacarero about an hour ago...BBQ chicken with extra hot sauce. But I don't get the fuss...I thought it was alright, but rather dry. It wasn't bad, mind you, but I've seen so many raves about it here...
