Five Guys Burgers and Fries to open in Pleasant Hill! (Any other in Bay Area?)
I do not know what is going on in upstate New York, but clearly someone is operating a substandard place under the Five Guys name. For a while now, I have described Five Guys Burgers to my In N Out friends in California as In N Out with meat. Five guys beef patties are substantially larger than In N Out. Whether they are better is a matter of personal taste. Since I tend to eat my burgers with fewer condiments, I tend to favor larger patties of beef. My biggest beef with In N Out is their rather thin patties.
Of course, now that I have tried a butter burger at Culvers, the comparison between In N Out Burger and Five Guys is really over second place.
Barcelona - Alternate cuisines
I will be traveling to Barcelona in September with some people who are not seafood fans.
Any suggestions on restaurants in Barcelona e.g. Italian, Asian, meat oriented, etc.

Stripsteak has a huge round table that seats 10 perfectly. One of my best meals there was at a bachelor party.

I am a big fan of Charlie Palmer. I am not a fan of his steak place. There are many great steak places in LV, but the one that consistently stands out is Stripsteak, Michael Mina's place at Mandalay. No other place matches the quality and preparation of the steak as well as world class sides. They use prime or better steaks, properly aged, poached in butter and cooked perfectly.
Sant Pau or Can Fabes
I am visiting Barcelona next month. I will be able to get outside the city one day for lunch. I am trying to decide between Sant Pau or Can Fabes. I assume they are both great choices. If anyone can give me their impressions of either or both, it should help me make a choice.
Vegas report
Try Cili at the Bali Hai golf course just past the Mandalay for lunch. Also, Rosemarys is open for lunch, with spectacular food in a modest setting.
Andronico's Walnut Creek & Danville - gone
Rumor is a restaurant will replace the WC Andronico's. If true,
perhaps a Cheesecake Factory?
Buffalo Burgers
I recently ate at Ted Turner's Montana Grill in Denver (there are numerous locations in other parts of the country).
I had the best buffalo burger there. Do we have any place in the Bay Area that serves buffalo burgers of that quality or,dare I wish, better?
good italian in the east bay?
If your idea of the East Bay includes Walnut Creek, try Prima.
I especially appreciate their extensive and reasonably priced wine list.
