fearings or nick & sams?

Fearings. The menu is more diverse and sophisticated. N&S is a steak place--a good steak place bu still just a steak place. You can examine both menus online. If you like what Fearings has to offer, go there. If youre looking for a very good steak place, go to N&S.

Sushi Axium in Addison is open and wonderful

They had a soft opening a few days ago and we ate there last night. The service was great as was the food. This is a sister location to the one on Henderson. Theyhave a long list of creative sushi rolls as well as more traditional sushi. The menu is eclectic and includes Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Korean dishes. Service is polished especially given that it just opened. It's on the corner of Beltline and Montfort.

Honeymoon in paris: Where to eat a tasting menu with these diet restrictions?

Because what we do eat is equally long. Beef, lamb, duck, chicken, veal, sausage, pork, risotto, pasta, and flatbreds make a long list of foundations upon which you can build a varied tasting menu. In Dallas Ive head "tasting menus" of just beef! There is a terrific french place her Called Bijoux http://www.bijouxrestaurant.com/ thats has a 5 course tasting menu but where you have 4 or 5 choices for each course and can repeat courses (ie get 3 appetizers and 2 desserts, or 5 entrees). Something as simple as that works too.

Honeymoon in paris: Where to eat a tasting menu with these diet restrictions?

Thank you for your insight. We will report back when we return.

Honeymoon in paris: Where to eat a tasting menu with these diet restrictions?

My wife and/or Icant eat (or dont like): seafood, organ meat, foi gras, mushrooms, anything with cream based sauces or wine based sauces. We do eat steak, pork, veal, chicken, pasta, breads, most veges, mexican, asian, and italian (subject to the restrictions above). We enjoyed a 17 course meal at Robuchon in Las Vegas as they accomodated our requests when we called in advance (although still declined doubling up on the beef course as we requested and in 2 courses simply removed the sea food from the course and served the remainder).

What place would best accomodate us if we called a week or so in advance and would do a custom menu for us? Price doesnt matter as its our honeymoon and once in a lifetime trip. We were considering Savoy, Le Cinq or Taillevent, and the rest of what I see to be highly thought of here. Ive read the threads about making special requests but havent seen a place willing to esentially customize a tasing menu because of our allergies and limited pallette.Thank you

N9NE Steakhouse

N9ne is great. Let's face it, every steack place gets their meat from the same 2-3 places. They all have the same 1000 degree or hotter ovens, and there isnt much they do differntly to a steak. That siad, N9ne steaks are as good as any other place and it also has great bread, appetizers, sides and desserts. "Famous" people likely go there because its a fun clubby place and is in a hip hotel. You should go becasue the food is crative, diverse and great!

Non-"French" food in Paris

Thank you everyone for your great ideas and insights. Ill report back.

Non-"French" food in Paris

We are honeymooning in Paris and Monte Carlo. Both of us love food but neither like heavy or cream sauces or dishes made with a lot of butter or oil. I dont eat seafood of any kind and I only eat a few types of vegetables. My fiance loves sushi and all fish. Ive eaten at Robuchon in Vegas, Alinea in Chicago, Daniel in NY, French Laundry in California and many other "french" places, and while I enjoyed the food, I always have to customize the tasting menu (beef, lamb, duck, pork, buffalo, no fish, no mushrooms, etc) or carefully order ala carte. So we are looking for something that will fit my limited tastes. We prefer fun to formal and love asian influenced cuisine. Ive searched this site and others but havent gotten a good feel for where to eat. Thank you so much!

Dallas Steakhouse, but not a chain

You can wear jeans to any steak place in dallas. I've been to them all in jeans and have never even been looked at twice. I was never the only one in jeans either so you shouldnt feel out of place.

Ive found that the biggest difference between steak houses isnt the steak, its the bread, sides, appetizers and desserts. All the places mentioned serve good/great steaks. Most get their meat from the same places and all have essentially the same ovens. All have about the same "dallas" feel. So I suggest you choose based on everything but the meat.

if you do that Bob's is out. Sides, bread and dessert are pedestrian at best. A giant buttery carrot and a baked potato just dont cut it. Try Al's or Pappas. Both have great bread, sides and desserts with good service and nice atmosphere. Pappas has a huge (but pricey) wine list.

Robuchon La Maison tasting menu?

Yes. But call ahead, because they are inflexible without some warning. Or do what I did (I dont eat seafood). I called the manager and modified the tasting menu. Go over exactly what your husband wants with the manager or they will simply remove the seafood, etc from the dish and add a vegetable or some other item he may or may not like. I wanted several of the same beef course and they wouldnt do that because it was a "costly" item. I reminded them that I was paying $325 per person and that an extra ounce or two of beef should be coverd in the price!! They still said no. So they will work with you but not a whole lot.

Sunday Brunch at Verandah Four Seasons LV

Verandah is great. Buffet and menu are available. Fresh cooked donuts with multiple toppings greet you as you enter. The buffet is always fresh and has a broad range of food to satisfy anyone. Its not as large as a mega hotel buffet but 50 times better. The menu has some great dishes too. Its my favorite place for breakfast in vegas.

India West: Best Indian in Dallas

Ive been to, among others, Saffron House, Taj Mahal, India Palace, Kabab n Kurry, all of the indo-chinese places at Beltline and 75, and a few others that dont come to mind. Ive also been to at least 6 places in Chicago and would rate it as good as those if not better.

The naan was very fresh and hot out of the Tandoor. Not too buttery. A little bit crispy outside and soft and hot inside. We had chicken tikka masala. It was a mild cream and tomato based curry. We had chicken vindaloo. It was a thicker, tomato base and fairly spicey (we ordered it medium). The samosa was potato and peas, although they have a lamb samosa too.

Perhaps what distinguishes it from other places in Dallas is the new modern interior, trained servers and bussers, and nice plating. It felt more upscale american without any upscale prices. The only downside is that the menu is more limited than some places.

India West: Best Indian in Dallas

India West is owned by the folks that started Kabab n Kurry. Its located just east of Beltline and the Tollway. With a modern american decor, well trained, if not a tad too formal servers, the place gives off an Americanized vibe. But the food is pure India, and excellent. Portions are large, and nicely plated. Although the menu has fewer items than many places, it still covers quite a bit. We had Masala and vindaloo, 2 types of naan, and a samosa. Everything was as god if not beter than what Ive had at any place in DFW.

Loft 610: Abacus north

Tre wilcox has redone the menu at loft 610 and is working there everynight. He has taken some of the best from the Abacus menu, increased portion size and lowered the price a tad. The food and service are both great. Shortribs were near the best Ive ever had and reminded me of the shortribs at Standard (now Nick and Sams cafe). Buffalo tenderloin, salmon, crab cakes and some sushi, all from or close to what was at Abacus, are on the menu and are great. Had a broad and what appeared to be fairly priced wine list. Desserts looked wonderful but we were too full.

It was less than 1/2 full on a Tuesday evening but I suspect will be packed on weekends. Its on the tollway and 121 so its in an area that needed some great food.

Cheap err, "inexpensive" but, good sushi. (Dallas)

Naan at shops at legacy has sushi happy hour. 2 people can eat for less than $20.

Sushi Robata on the tollway and frankford is always inexpensive and good. Naan has korean dishes too.

"Smoke" Restaurant in Dallas?

Overpriced and only so-so BBQ. We had ribs, pork, turkey, sausage and beef. None of the meats stood out. All were bland without some sauce and all were a tad dry.The 4 sauces were good but not great. The bread was very good and the service pretty good. Apple pie was terrible. For lunch it was $100 for 4 people.

Four Seasons - Cafe on the Green

Eat there. Its great. The menu changes but always has some great food, usually with an Asian flair. Nice breakfast buffet too.

Deep Dish Pizza-Chicago Style in DFW?

Dont bother trying to get Chicago pizza in Dallas. Just order Giordano's and have it overnighted via fed ex.

It comes 1/2 baked and is awesome.

Fujiyama Sushi in North dallas

Sorry, I cant comment on the sashimi as we didnt have any. They had several specials and the prices, alhough not as low as shushi robata, were below average for the quantity you received. (For instance, my fiancee ordered a roll and asked for avacado to be added. Not only did they put a tiny bit inside the roll but also decorated the outside with quite a bit.)

Fujiyama Sushi in North dallas

We eat sushi 2-3 times a week. But Im a purely non-seafood guy and my fiancee is a purely sushi girl, so we need a place that does both well. This one does just that. Its a small, modern place on the northwest corner of frankford and midway. Its really a great find if you like creative rolls like a mango tango (tuna, salmon, mango, strawberries, yellowtail) and light faire (ie butterfly kisses-- salmon, crab and lemon) but the standard rolls are well prepared and very fresh. Service was very friendly and the sushi chef said he will make any roll you like or let you design your own (everyone spoke perfect english as well).

Gyoza and yakitori were both great. Open sundays which is also nice. This is now on our sushi rotation list with nobu, shinsei, sushi robata, and 560.

North Dallas/Addison Restaurant

10 miles will permit you to go anywhere from Lovers to Legacy on the tollway. Within that range (and less than 1 mile from the tollway) Id look at places that have good to great food--as almost any can serve lighter and healthier fare. Starting at Lovers and going north: Bijoux; Shinsei; Mercury Grill; Oceanaire; Masaryk; Ferrari's; Roy's and Jaspers. Each one of those will have either ceviche or ahi or something light. None are more than 12 minutes from beltline (assuming no rush hour traffic).

Two nights in Dallas - sushi

You are very close to Korea Town but I dont think there is any place there that has great sushi. Any place youll want to visit will be a 10-20 minute cab ride depending on where and when you go. The places you mention are all good and about the same distance. To that list Id add Nobu which gets varied reviews but has the broadest menu and great desserts.

What is the best Sunday Champagne Brunch in Las Vegas

Four Seasons, hands down. Great menu or buffet to chose from. Donuts being made fresh as you walk in.

Tasting Menu Las Vegas

Is there a place where we can customize our tasting menu? Im going to vegas for my mom's 75th birthday and want to take her to a very special place. But I dont eat sea food and she doesnt eat raw sea food. We both eat beef, lamb, sausage, veal, pork, chicken, duck, pasta, rissoto, soups, salads, and short ribs, and she, in addition, eats fish. My girl friend, who will be with us, does eat sushi. Thank you!

Nobu? Koi? Yellowtail? Social House? (Las Vegas)

Nobu is great. Social house is equally good but a bit different. It has wonderful creative sushi and non sushi dishes, including an amazing bone-in filet that is cooked medium rare and comes with 3 sauces. If you are leaning towards sushi, go for nobu. if you want to venture out and try some sushi and some non sushi items, go social house. Both have a similar clubish type vibe.

Yellowtail is pricey and the portions comically tiny. The food is good though and you get to see the water show. Id rate it below Nobu and Scial House.

Lunch on Saturday/Dallas

You have a very good place in your hotel called the Second floor.

If you want to walk, you are inside the Galleria mall which has several good places to eat. If you want to drive, you are no more than 2 miles from at least 50 restaurants on Beltline road (the second exit north on the tollway).

Check out some of these:
