Breakfast for a large group in Oakland
Our staff of 12-15 want to have brunch together on Friday. Alameda is the most convenient area for us.
I need suggestions for a great meal, not too expensive, (we're non-profit folks), that can handle a large group. We'll meet around 10:30 and hope that the late breakfast time might make seating us a little easier on the kitchen/wait staff.
Thanks!
Lunch in Alameda
I'm meeting a colleague for lunch on Monday, and Alameda is the meeting place for our working lunch. Where can we go for a nice, quiet lunch that won't break the bank $10-15 a meal.
I'm hoping for a location not too far from Park bridge.
Thanks
Great coffee in New Orleans?
Thanks, I look forward to trying Orange Couch and Cafe Rose. It will be nice to try a variety of places. I'm sure we'll luck out at least once.
Great coffee in New Orleans?
We will, for sure, try a cup of New Orleans style coffee and report back!
Great coffee in New Orleans?
Costa Rican sounds good. We usually buy freshly roasted beans and grind them fresh each morning. I think they're a mixture of different South American beans.
Thanks for the initial tips.
CSA's Any Thoughts or Opinions?
Our family has been subscribing to Full Belly for about 8 years. I love hearing from the farm in their weekly letter, almost as much as I enjoy and appreciate the produce. Because you receive whatever is in season at the farm there is not a great deal of variety in the winter and greens can get tiring. This week's carrots were amazing!
Great coffee in New Orleans?
We are coming to New Orleans for a week in March from San Francisco Bay Area. My husband's first visit to the city. He's a big foodie and has restaurants all picked out.
I've got to admit, I'm a terrible, coffee snob and often bring my own coffee and Melita-drip-cone-thing for that one perfect cup of coffee that I love every morning.
Is there great coffee in New Orleans and can I leave my coffee paraphenalia at home? We're staying at The Frenchmen Hotel in the Faubourg Marigny district.
Thanks for any great coffee places nearby.
Any good restaurants in Santa Cruz? [moved from SF Bay board]
My daughter is starting school at UC in the fall, (we are from Oakland) and the little exploring we've done has not turned up any good food. We tried Kianti's on Pacific Avenue and thought the food was terrible. A little taco place near the Boardwalk was cozy and fun but the food was just ok.
Please send recommendations, we like all kinds of food.
Great margaritas, lunch, downtownish
I'll be downtown on Wednesday, (Geary and Sutter street art galleries) and am looking for a great margarita and good food, doesn't have to be Mexican. Its my birthday and a mid-day, mid-week drink is essential.
Thanks Chowers,

Great burger in downtown Portland
Thanks, these are great breakfast tips. By the way I found a wonderful latte at Half and Half, around the corner from Powell Books. Great servers, talkative and sweet. One of them mentioned a new place for breakfast, Pine State Biscuits, he loved it, but I'm more in the mood for a regular breakfast, not so heavy.
We won't leave Portland without going to Voodoo, doughnuts are a secret passion of ours, sshhhhhh.
Thanks again, everyone in Portland has been warm and have offered many smiles on the streets.
Great burger in downtown Portland
Thanks! As it happens we ended up at Higgins, before you posted and it was all that we had hoped for. The burgers were very tasty and their beer list was extensive, with dozens of beers from Belgium and elsewhere.
Now, what about breakfast? We ate at Jam on Hawthorn this morning and found the food less than mediocre. Coffee was dissapointing. Anyplace to suggest with good food and great coffee?
Thanks
Leah
Great burger in downtown Portland
We are just in town for one night from the Bay Area, and in the mood for a great burger and local beer in downtown Portland. We are staying on 15th SW at the DeLuxe and the front desk suggested Henry's and Bridgeport.
Any other suggestions and opinions on the Henry's and Bridgeport? We have a car but don't feel like driving too far away from here.
Thanks,
Leah
breakfast in downtown Philadelphia
Thanks! I will definitely try La Colombe and we can't resist a great bakery so we'll go to Miel Patisserie as well. Looking forward to our time in your city.

Cajun Food??
There isn't much around. If you go to Angeline's get the bread pudding for dessert! Its carmelly, gooey and to die for.
breakfast in downtown Philadelphia
We are coming from SF Bay area next week and will want a great breakfast, not too greasy or heavy in downtown Philadelphia (staying on South 17th street). Is there anything special about breakfast in Philadelphia?
It would be nice to have a good latte to go with it, is that asking too much? Seriously, must admit to being a coffee snob and will probably bring my own from Oakland (Royal/Cole).
Thanks.
