Weekend in Baltimore
If you are going to Brewer's Art because you are a beer fan, be sure to hop in a cab and down a few pints at Alewife. It's Baltimore's craft beer mecca and a pretty nice space too. http://alewifebaltimore.com/
Try to get into Peters Inn in Fells Point on Friday. Small bar with an excellent menu that changes daily. Walk down to Fells after and hit up some local watering holes.

JFX Farmer's Market 2011!
Does it bother anyone else that there are no hand-washing stations at the market? I mean, you have farm produce and raw foods, selling next to prepared foods which are eaten on site. Most vendors that sell the prepared foods also collect the cash from the customers, which frequently falls on the ground because people are holding so many different bags. Not to mention, the entire market is held in a city parking lot under an expressway. Who knows what happens in that lot during the week or at night (I wouldn't want to know).
I'm not really a germ-a-phobe, but it really bothered me this past Sunday.
Baltimore Food Trucks?
There's a darn fine taco truck on Broadway between Pratt and Gough. Very good tacos (tongue!) and tamales.
One night in Baltimore (this Saturday the 29th) Where to go???
Another vote for Salt.
Is Anyone Fed Up with The Foodnetwork?
Unwrapped is about food? I thought it was about taking a bunch of chemicals, throwing them into a vat, running them through some type of industrial machine, and producing some sort of substance that makes the population fat.
The network is a complete joke.
Best reasonable places to eat in Wildwood Crest, NJ?
The Bayview Inn on the Lake has pretty good bar food. Marie Nicole's on Pacific in WWC is excellent but expensive.

You could also drive 10 minutes down to Cape May for a multitude of options.
Best Food Neighborhood in Baltimore
Canton is pretty much one or two square blocks, and unless you are looking for average to pricey bar food I think you will be disappointed (minus maybe Mama's and Jack's - which you prob wouldn't find unless you were looking for it).
I would walk Fells Point to Harbor East. Good mix of pub grub, seafood, latin, Italian and upscale - with a little bit of Greek, Japanese and Indian thrown in.
Petrozza is the last male standing?
Tony-
I have never seen the contestants on Hell's Kitchen smoke during service. They are only smoking back in their dorm. Your above statement about a chef handling a piece of fish after smoking is not relevant to our discussion about the Hell's Kitchen contestants.
A professional kitchen would not allow their staff to smoke during service. If they want to smoke before or after service - which the program clearly shows - I could care less.
Need a celebration location for Thurs - Baltimore
WOW- I have to disagree with this statement. Although the food at The Chamelon is good, I hardly think it's a good value. On my first and recent visit, we had a $100 check that inlcuded a $32 bottle of wine- so $120 with tip for two. Apps consisted of a salad and calamari, entrees were a vegetarian tart ($22) and veal with sweetbreads ($27). With the exception of the calamari, the meal was very basic (although solid) french food. Everything was prepared well with good flavor, but nothing blew me away.
I felt the price point was high for the meal and location.
Petrozza is the last male standing?
TonyO - You obviously have never worked in the restaurant industry. I would say at least 50% of it smokes. All of the other shows just edit it out.
BYOB in/near Old City
I am looking for a nice BYOB within walking distance of the Sheraton Old City. We have reservations for LaCroix on Saturday so preferably something on the other side of the spectrum food wise.
Nassau/Paradise Island in Bahamas
My original post about avoiding Atlantis restaurants due to the fish being flown in frozen was prior to Mesa Grill and Nobu being open. I would assume that these 2 places have exceptional quality seafood and would be an excellent choice for a meal. At a price of course.
Good food on the Coral Bay side of St. John?
In Coral Bay I would recommend your choices of Miss Lucy's for brunch and Sweet Plantains. SP was VERY good and has a really nice atmosphere, however it's also quite expensive. Shipwreck Landing has a really laid back vibe, above-average island food and it's pretty cheap. I would also recommend taking the drive to Vie's Shack one day for lunch and get the garlic chicken. The guys who have the food trucks at the main corner of Rt 10 & 107 are supposedly good and cheap. About a 10 minute drive towards Cruz Bay will take you to Chateau Bordeaux which is pretty high-end but has excellent cuisine.
I have found Skinny Legs and Island Blues have pretty average to mediocre food.
As for the bars, Island Blues and Sputniks have regular live music. Aqua Bistro is also a nice bar. You will find that Coral Bay is pretty sleepy though, and you will be hanging out with a lot of locals and the occasional salty-dog. Everything tends to close up around 10pm.
Best Towson Sushi
2nd vote for Sushi Hana, although lately on the weekends the place is absolutely packed. IMO the sushi suffers when this happens.
BTW- When I was in college, I could barely afford to go to taco bell. What's the deal with all the Towson U students mobbing this place on the weekends? I sincerely doubt they work. Spending mommy & daddy's allowance perhaps? Must be nice.
Ra Sushi - Inner Harbor East B-more
Sounds like Americanized Sushi at it's finest. Bleh.
B'more Little Italy recs
La Scala on Eastern Ave.
Only go to Sabatino's if you like pump 'em in - pump 'em out red sauce italian.
Bourdain in London
Most of the NR shows have at least one segment where Tony is eating in someone's home. It usually involves an older generation cook preparing time-tested dishes from the past. 99% of the time, these seem to be his favorite food experiences of the episode. London/Scotland did not have any of this.
I would love to ask Tony why that was. Are there no British staple dishes, handed down over centuries, that are worthy of a home cooked dinner segment? Or, do the Brits only do take-out?
Cafe Panache in Ashburn
The menu looks nice, Has anyone ever been? I would love some feedback as we are either going there or to Lightfoot Friday night.
Baltimore vs Washington for "red sauce" Italian Restaurants.
La Scala on Eastern Ave. IMO is one of the best in Little Italy.

Peter's Inn vs Henninger's
You should be OK on a Thursday night. Maybe like a 15 min wait. Although I prefer the atmosphere at Henninger's - OK, I actually LOVE the atmosphere at Henninger's, I have to give the edge on food to Peter's. You can't go wrong with either place.
fun, funky place in Bmore???
My God. If you want edible food, do not go to Nacho Mama's. Drinks yes, food no.
Go to Jack's Bistro and sit in the bar area.
Guanciale in Baltimore
I was looking for it about a year ago after a visit to Lupa in NYC, where I had an excellent entree of Bucatini All'Amatriciana. It's tough to find. I asked the butcher at Ceriello's in Belvedere Square if they had it or could get it, and he looked at me like I had two heads- never heard of it. I have never seen it in a local store or market, but I know you can get it via mail order.
Baltimore Restaurant Week
We ate at Oceanaire last year for RW. I would strongly suggest you change your pick, as it was an unremarkable meal. If I remember correctly I had an OK calamari app, a marlin steak with a guacamole salsa on top that was absolutely tasteless, and a desert that consisted of a big chocolate chip cookie with a glass of milk. My wife had the crab cake entree that was average at best- I've had better at many bars in town. Sorry, but even at $30 a head, it was a ripoff.
Please help us pick our New Year's vacation spot!
St. Martin - Easy to get to with warm weather and a total foodie island. Lots of stuff to do besides relax and has central towns with shopping etc.
St. Barts - Right to next to St. Martin. Think Paris on the beach when it comes to food. A VERY expensive island with lots of shopping, galleries and central towns.
Anguilla - Again, on the other side of St. Martin. Top notch resorts and big-time restaurants, but not much else. Spend the day on the beach drinking a Carib. No real towns to walk around in.
Turks and Caicos - Closer than the above three, and extremely laid back. There will not be as many food choices as the above, and there is really nothing to do here unless you are in the water. However, Grace Bay is one of the Caribbeans best beaches, and the resorts are 5-star.
Keep in mind that you are picking the absolute most expensive time to visit the Caribbean - the week between Christmas and New Years.
Peruvian chicken stand at the JFX market
Are these guys associated with any restaurant in Baltimore? I was going to ask but they were totally swamped with customers. I had some of their food last Sunday, and it was pretty darn good.
Chinese in Towson?
Since Golden Gate Noodle House has closed, I think The Orient across from the library is probably your best bet.
SURVEY: Best BBQ in Baltimore
IMHO, Andy Nelsons in Cockeysville is by far the best Q that Baltimore has to offer.
Italian around Baltimore
Would you trust the owner's daughter? Wouldn't she be a bit biased?
La Scala on Eastern Ave.
