Mulan take out: need recommendations

I love the salted crispy chicken, but like most fried things, it does not travel well.

first time at Mulan. What are your favorites?

Get the salted crispy chicken and the beef with leek wrapped with pancakes - you can thank me later.

Dave's Pasta In Davis Square, Somerville; What IS My Problem??

Some sauces are just good, but the smoked tomato cream sauce and their plain old basil pesto are to die for.

The dearth of food carts and trucks in Boston

Don't forget the new(ish) Clover food truck! It's way beyond passable if you ask me.

Suckling Pig Sundays at Rendezvous

Has anyone tried the Suckling Pig prix fixe at Rendezvous? Apparently it's going to be available on Sundays for May and June. Here's the sample menu:

Housemade mortadella with toasted pistachios, dandelion greens and mustard oil
Salad of shaved artichoke with crispy pork skin, frisée lettuce and lemon vinaigrette
Suckling pig three ways: braised shoulder, roasted leg and grilled chop

New Mexican food

Craigie On Main's website lists that their brunch menu (coming soon) will have “Horseman’s Haven” New Mexican Green Chile Stew. Is that what you're looking for?

What are your Formaggio favorites?

I'd like to put in a word for the Marcel Petit Comte - my favourite cheese in the world that I've only ever seen at Formaggio. Try it with the sliced apple mostarda...

Minced tekka don

I once had a version of the tuna sashimi bowl where the tuna was minced very finely, when I was in Tucson, AZ, of all places, and it's something I've been craving ever since. Does anyone know of anywhere in the Boston area that serves it this way?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Best grilled cheese

I'm a big fan of the grilled ham and swiss at the Black Sheep Cafe in the Kendall Hotel. It's a little overpriced - but they give you a strawberry jam dipping sauce and great homemade potato chips!

Casual Dining Friday Night - Figs?

If you're interested in good Italian in Beacon Hill, I highly recommend Grotto. Just as good as the best places in the North End IMHO.

Does anyone eat at Danny's Diner?

After reading some good reviews, here and elsewhere, I went to Danny's Diner last night and had a great meal that was made less-great by the cringing feeling you get from being the only people in a restaurant. It was a Tuesday night, but from 6:30-7:30pm not another soul entered the diner.
In any case, my corned beef hash and pancakes were as excellent (and as cheap!) as advertised, and the fish in my boyfriend's fish and chips was perfectly fried and gigantic for the price. The fries were not as crispy as I'd like - but I'm not a steak fries person.
So, was this an off-night? Is is full for breakfast or on weekends? Or is this great place doomed?

Lunch options near Hynes?

I'd recommend the Other Side Cosmic Cafe for something cheap and interesting (if that's what you're looking for). It's on the corner of Newbury St. and Mass Ave.

Lunch around the Commons?

I'd recommend the Parish Cafe. http://www.parishcafe.com/
It's right next to the Arlington T-stop on Boylston (adjacent to the park) and has awesome upscale sandwiches.

Kobe beef in boston?

I think Grotto has what you are looking for:
Steak Fritti: Thinly sliced balsamic dipped Kobe "Wagyu" beef, crispy parmesan tossed fries, creamy sswiss chard, horseradish and au jus

I've had it, and it's excellent and a good value (21$).

What Is Good at Cafe Kiraz in Cambridge?

I second the beet sandwich. It is unique and amazing. If you like beets at all you will find it hard to ever order anything else.

Buying high quality cheese outside of Formaggio

Cardullo's cheeses are pretty darn good.

Kobe Beef

I'm a big fan of the Kobe Beef 'Steak Fritti' at Grotto. You can check it out here:
http://www.bostonchefs.com/clients/Grotto/menu/index.html

Fresh fish for my own sushi

The Japanese market at the Porter Exchange Mall carries sashimi quality fish.

Best tasting menus in Boston

Has anyone had the Evoo tasting menu lately? How does it stack up?

Where have you always had a bad meal?

For me it is Fire + Ice. 15$ for a 5$ stirfry where everything always tastes the same. It's like anti-food. I refuse to go there on principle now.

Taqueria La Mexicana in Somerville

I've been recently, and of the dishes you've posted, I've had the nachos and the enchiladas and loved both of them. I recommend getting the nachos with beef and the enchiladas with the potato/chorizo mixture. And ask for extra hot sauce - it's not hot at all.

Central Square Lunch Spot?

Shalimar has a rather good lunch buffet for 7$

Purchasing fresh white and black truffles

You can order them from South End Formaggio too.

(lamb) suggestions at THE HELMAND

The Seekh Kabab is also amazing. I'm a fan of the roasted tomatoes on the side too.

Urban Gourmet-style pizza near Som/Medford?

For salads (and great sandwiches as well) check out Cafe Kiraz:

They deliver to me in Somerville (near Porter Square) - I don't know how far out they go. No iceberg and plentiful toppings. I highly recommend the Autumn Salad.

Restaurant wedding in Ottawa

I'm interested in holding a small wedding reception (25-30 people) in a restaurant in Ottawa with the best food humanly possible. A private dining room would be nice, but not essential. I'm a huge fan of Beckta, but I was wondering if you had any other suggestions.
Thanks!

Central Kitchen tonight!

Mussels. Trust me.

Shine, Kendall Sq.

What are the prices like here at lunch? And does anyone have a website link?

Dinner Options in Cambridge??

You'll be very close to Helmand - a great Afghani restaurant and one of my all time Boston area favourites. They're closed Sunday and Monday, I believe, and I would make reservations as they're very popular. I can't find if they have a website - but this might be useful:

Final tip: Get the kaddo (pumpkin). You'll thank me later.
