Place Des Vosges Area Recs

Have you been yet? Am I too late? We went to Les Côtelettes, off St Antoine
4, Impasse Guéménée. Fresh food, from market to table, wonderful wines, friendly staff, relaxing and delicious. Cheeses that were superb and a great time.

What's the plan for restaurant week?

We went to Gramercy Tavern for lunch today. Arrived at 11:50 and just missed the last two seats at the bar but were whisked away to the Dining Room. Different menu than the tavern; we started with cauliflower soup and butternut squash risotto, then sea bass with spagetti squash and a pork croquette atop mashed potato ending with chocolate bread pudding and german chocolate cake both with ice cream. Wonderful White Bordeaux for $24 a bottle as well. All was deelish and the server kindly went over to the other sidei(the Tavern) to get the german chocolate cake for me. Plus the bonus, the gift certificate to come back. We eat there without RW and love it and loved it today. I liked the dining room but i am a tavern girl at heart. It was nice to see how the other half eats!

Sunday Food Adventures in Paris? Daytime only?

I stayed near the 11th, went to Marche ALigre which I could have missed except for the oysters at the Baron Rouge, oysters and wines. Brought back a bottle of Cotes du Rhone for 4.40E and had it with a cantal before leaving for dinner at Astier .Didn't really need the pre-course for Astier was way to much food, and cheese. Not sure where to go tonight?

Anyone have their plans in place?

Overwhelmed

Your list of restaurants aren't necessarily 'over the top' type places, just ones that have good food. I wouldn't call it over the top or once in a lifetime but only once so far in my lifetime I had dinner at La Rotisserie du Beaujolais which had lovely beef and duck, wonderful atmosphere and perfect service.May be you both will like it!

simple request ,two items:Oysters and Salad Frisee

Staying in the 11th, went to Marche ALigre yesterday which I could have missed except for the oysters at the Baron Rouge, oysters and wines. Brought back a bottle of Cotes du Rhone for 4.40E and had it with a cantal before leaving for dinner at Astier last night. Didn't really need the pre-course for Astier was way to much food, and cheese. Not sure where to go tonight? Any ideas. Have gone to Rotessire du Beaujolais (had duck and it was moist and wonderful) and to Auberge Jarette (homey and warm).

simple request ,two items:Oysters and Salad Frisee

We are in Paris for a week and have been eating wonderfully. Auberge de Jarette last night for a delecious dinner, laduree for sweets, lots of chocolate, and ham and cheese and bread from the Bastille Market for lunch. But for dinners I am craving either oysters or a salad frisee (its all the oeufs frais at the market). Any ideas?

Poultry specialists in Paris?

Why do you have to order in advance at La Rotisserie Du Beaujolais? We were thinking of going next Saturday Night. First time in Paris...Auberge du Jarente for first night Thursday and Saturday was our only other plan for the seven nights.

So? What can you bring over the border? [Moved from Quebec]

I will be in Montreal soon from the U.S. I always brought home goodies from Jean Talon market. Will my fruits and vegetables and wonderful cheeses or breads make it through customs? Does any one have any new, last time in Montreal 1 1/2 years ago, experience in bringing in these items. I saw no beef products but what else is on the 'no-no' list?

where to shop for kitchenwares

We will be in Montreal this summer and love to go to kitchenware shops to see what we are missing!!! Any ideas?

Help!! Good for Group Celebration - $50/pp range?

I don't know if this is your type of place but we went with 16 to Alta Restaurant on 10th St last Wednesday. After graduation on 57th St., no cabbers but we are metrocarders, had a great meal, great drinks, great table, and great fun.The staff was wonderful and I highly recommend it.

Tapas, or tapas like in the west 50's/60;s?

Looking for Guanciale on the East Side

Although it is on the Westside , Fairway had some in the Deli dept. last Wednesday.

Should we try Angelo&Maxies for dinner?

There will be 12 of us, celebration dinner, ages 20-60. What do you think, Anywhere else like it or should we stick with it?

Yikes, no reservations for this week

Trying to be more specific, I guess what I don't want is italian or steak, I saw your recommendation of Incanto. We are staying at Fisherman's Wharf, is that easy to get to? I also saw mention of Greens. If you were in NYC I would mention Gramercy Tavern, Otto, Blue RIbbon Restaurants so I guess like those.

Yikes, no reservations for this week

thanks for the walkin and calling info...should I try some where else as well?

Yikes, no reservations for this week

A friend and myself are coming to SF on Wednesday - Friday and wanted to go to Zuni Cafe and Slanted Door but open table says no can do. Can we get walk in tables, call for reservations, or should some one else recommend another restaurant.

Graduation dinner May 28 for 18

thanks littlepiggy! I have had friends who have gone there and enjoyed the meal!

Graduation dinner May 28 for 18

Graduation is on 57th St and ends at 6ish. I have 13 hearty eaters and 2 food snobs plus the graduate. Any ideas? Was thinking Otto but would be happy to spend less, around $50 without tax and tip. Any ideas
