Vegan Choices Asheville
Which was just selected by Southern Living mag as one of the 10 Best Burgers in NC (the only veg burger on the list). Interesting that you found it "inedible."
More exciting Asheville news!
I'm loving this one...new restaurant planned for RAD by the owners of Knife and Fork and 5 Walnut. Waterfront dining, local/organic, wood-fired oven and grill...sounds fabulous.

And on a personal note...I'm so excited to be attending my first Blind Pig event very soon! "Mexicellent" with the chef from the Admiral - no menu details yet but the promo video says it will be a combo of Mexican, Chinese and Japanese cuisine... Sounds so interesting! At only $40 a pop I couldn't resist. Has anyone else to a BP event?

Love gypsy queen and am dying to try melt your heart - gourmet grilled cheeses that sound amazing!
Out & About in Asheville, pt. two
Totally agree with you on Storm - did not like it much at first (mainly due to poor service) - now it's one of our favorites. The Devil's Oasis cocktail is my favorite drink in Asheville!
There was an article in this week's Xpress about the Admiral chef's food truck. Sounds like a great concept!
I still say if you like Admiral you need to try The Junction. That has become our new favorite, and now that the patio is open it's even better.
Kiawah Island - 2 days only
Thanks! Will definitely hit Fat Hen for brunch if not dinner too! Great suggestions.
72 hour pass in Columbus, GA
The Loft has excellent food in a bar setting, better than Cannon Brewpub. Lots of fun and great food. Country's for BBQ. The Fish Market for good seafood.
Brunch in Asheville
Posana! Excellent and everything is GF. It's downtown on the square - you could drop them off and park in the garage across the street if there was no close street parking avail.
We had lunch at Avenue M on Merrimon as well and thought is was good. That would be close to the neighborhood.
Kiawah Island - 2 days only
Thanks, I posted on TA too and got a good response. Appreciate the help!
GOOD breakfast and dinner food in Nags Head?
Kill Devil Grill, Blue Moon Beach Grill. KDG was awesome...we ate there twice!!!
Kiawah Island - 2 days only
On a whim I booked a villa for the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend - it says it is on the West Beach. I am excited but know nothing about Kiawah and am a little confused with the layout of the island.
I am not able to check in until 4pm on Saturday so I thought I'd park and hit the beach somewhere near my villa on the West Beach. For lunch I'd love recs for a takeout place with good sandwiches that I could bike to (I want to maximize my beach time so I'm thinking to-go would be best...and I don't know how tight parking is so I thought biking could be the way to go?), or I thought about maybe visiting the Sanctuary for lunch. It seems like there are a few restaurants there - any favorites? If I'm not staying there would I be able to order lunch by the pool?
I will be bringing my bike and thought biking to dinner to get a feel for the island would be a good thing to do after I check in. Is there a place you recommend considering I will be dining alone? A place with good bar food or a good takeout place? I think I read somewhere about a good wood-fired pizza place...would that be close enough for me to bike to and enjoy back at my villa if it on on the West Beach? I guess I could drive but again, didn't know how traffic would be during the holiday weekend. We saw horrible traffic leaving Folly Beach two weekend ago and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.
I would also not be opposed to cooking in one night if there was a good place for me to stop and get fresh shrimp - I could do this on the way in from Charleston too I guess but wanted to know if there was a place on KI. Any suggestions?
Any other things to consider? Thanks in advance!
Questions about Lexington #1 BBQ
Well we went...and we loved it. Definitely worth the detour. Had coarse chopped BBQ with some outside brown mixed in - so tender, juicy, flavorful - some of the best BBQ I've ever eaten. Skipped the generic fries and scarfed down the delicious hush puppies instead. There is also a little park directly across the street which was kind of run-down but was still the perfect spot for us to enjoy our meal at a picnic table and let the dog run around after a few hours in the car. Thanks everyone!

I've never heard anyone say anything negative about Admiral. It's awesome...do it!
Any new Dining experiences in Asheville?
Strada - very good Italian.
Mamacitas Baja Kitchen - new sit-down casual Mexican in former Mo-Daddy's space. We went last night. Complimentary chips and salsa...salsa needed some heat and salt, chips were from a bag and not fresh. Pork tamale app was good. Chile relleno dinner was pretty good and I really liked the quinoa salad and two sauces it was served with. Lobster enchilada dinner was way too spicy - I like heat but it really detracted from the sweetness of the lobster. Margaritas were strong and fresh but small so for $10 it wouldn't be my first choice. Service was excellent at the bar. Total bill with tip for 2 margs, 2 beers, 1 app and 2 entrees was $80. It was pretty good but I'd choose Limones over it every time.

Others to add - Strada, Mela, Sunny Point, The Junction, White Duck Taco, Limones. Plenty of options for veggies. And Plant! An amazing vegetarian restaurant that will please everyone...so good!
Asheville food trucks
The Lot exists! It's on Coxe Street - they're a good one to follow on FB as they are good about posting who is there every day. Today it's Lowdown, Our Taco and El Kimchi. I think most of them stay throughout the day on into the evening.

I also follow the individual food truck's pages FB sites since I'm not on Twitter. They definitely update every day.
Brunch for folks concerned with 'ambiance' in Asheville
Oh yes, I forgot about Posana. It is very good also and has a lovely ambiance. That reminds me...I need to go back there soon!
Brunch for folks concerned with 'ambiance' in Asheville
I think Corner Kitchen or Limones would be excellent. Fig or Table would also be a nice, elegant atmosphere. We loved brunch at The Junction recently but it is very casual and may not offer the vibe you're seeking. Oh! And the new Italian place downtown, Strada, has brunch I believe. That would also be a good choice.

Help us decide - Friday Charleston Dinner
Thanks again for all of your help, especially with my incessant wavering. Well Husk and Fig are both out due to no reservation availability but I have a rez at SNOB and we'll sit at the bar at Hanks - guess I'll do just that Sue and see how we feel when we get here. Planning on a drink at the bar at Husk so if the menu looks good we'll go for that too possibly. Good to know we can't go wrong with any of these. Spontaneity...I like it!
Help us decide - Friday Charleston Dinner
Husk at the bar? Like I said, the main restaurant is already booked up that night. Well now I'm leaning towards Hank's again over SNOB...I'm so indecisive!
Help us decide - Friday Charleston Dinner
Thanks for all the help. I was definitely thinking of having a drink or two at the bar at Husk, so that's good to know they have a menu there too (the website doesn't mention this I don't think).
Danna, I have not been to FIG but for some reason that online menu wasn't as appealing to me as SNOB's. I don't know, it looked a little too simple maybe? And (I shudder to say this) a little too...healthy? Ha! But I know it gets rave reviews as well...maybe that should be our pick?
I hate having only one dinner in town...makes it so hard!
Help us decide - Friday Charleston Dinner
Gosh, I'm really looking at SNOB now over Hank's. Thoughts?
Help us decide - Friday Charleston Dinner
Thanks Sue. Well, Husk is out - no rezzies avail even though our visit isn't for almost a month!
Questions about Lexington #1 BBQ
Oh yes, I remember now about ordering "coarse chopped" here. I think that's what we'll prefer. Good tip on the cobbler too... I think I've got my order ready now!
