Where's the best fried chicken in the GTA ?
We had Popeye's anniversary special 8 piece box last week, and it was dreadful. Don't other places reserve the chicken backs for other purposes (e.g. making stock)?
ISO: Newfoundland Savoury
The Sobeys at Mayfield & Hurontario has a lot of Newfoundland products (and I reckon the other Brampton area Sobeys do as well).
In search of Lyle's Golden Syrup
I found it yesterday at Pusateri's Bayview Village (250ml jar for $3.99). Otherwise, it is o/s or delisted everywhere I've looked.
In search of Lyle's Golden Syrup
It's apparently gone from Loblaws, Metro, and Sobeys. Supercentre Don Mills had a shelf tag this aft., but no stock. I will try good ol' Highland Farms (and yes, I know we've had the jars rather than tins here). Thanks for the suggestions.

Can anyone provide a grocery store source in the GTA?
where to find top quality pain de mie, ideally in central Toronto
I don't know who bakes it for them, but The Healthy Butcher on Eglinton Ave. West has it most days.
Pie Floater
It is not possible to spend six months in Adelaide and not encounter a pie floater!
ASIAN LEGEND Yonge north of Sheppard - Is it any good?
The food is decent and the service is very friendly.
Oh no - PC Sticky toffee pudding
There was a great recipe for malva pudding in either the Globe or National Post during last year's FIFA World Cup. I have made it a few times with great success.
Catering/order-in ideas/restaurants for office lunch 20-30 people, financial district
Why not try Caplansky's Deli? Their smoked meat was featured on The Dragons' Den last night, and received rave reviews.

Seeking liquorice cigars in the box
Isn't it a strange mix of merchandise? I guess many of the people who shop there are stocking up for convenience stores, etc. They have Bunn coffeemakers for sale, which I have never seen in any other Toronto store.
Seeking liquorice cigars in the box
I bought a box at The Real Canadian Wholesale Club (605 Rogers Road), two weeks ago. The cigars are wrapped in plastic, as you describe. They have the little red dots at one end, to represent the hot ash.
ISO : Oak Wood Chips
Dickson Pro Hardware (2028 Avenue Road) has a bbq annex that sells chips and chunks of several wood types.
Yen Ching Palace at Bayview Village
They are closing, but I believe Yenching is being replaced by another Chinese restaurant.
'Nduja Found!
This product is featured in several food blogs this week. Thanks for the tip.
Ontario Corn...is it at the markets yet?
Thank you very much for this Chowhound tip. I bought corn at 2pm from this location. On a rainy afternoon, it was great to be able to shop for just-picked corn within the city limits!
Okinomi House on Charles Street, Toronto
Agree with LiviaLunch that the teriyaki is disappointing. The Bacon Okonomiyaki is the best version of the choices offered.
Kraft Cheese in a Blue Tin/Can (made in Saudi Arabia or Middle East)
It's processed and unremarkable other than the fact it's cheese in a can.
Kraft Cheese in a Blue Tin/Can (made in Saudi Arabia or Middle East)
It is made in the Middle East, although it used to be a product of Kraft Australia. I had a roommate in University from Mauritius, and he always had some at start of term.
I definitely saw it last week by the checkout in the Asian supermarket at 3701 Lawrence Ave. E. - there is a Winners and a Value Village store in the same plaza.
Looking for a Good Birthday Cake near Yonge & Eglington
Dufflets has some great cakes too. Lemon Coconut is a recent discovery in our house.
Best Used or Discount Bookstore for Cookbooks in Toronto (Downtown)
Also, the BMV branch at Eglinton & Yonge is very good for cookbooks. There is a big table in front of the cash desk, as well as a series of shelves near the north wall of the ground floor.
WTF Sambal ulek (oelek) in Toronto
Yes, demographics seem to be a factor. Add the Food Basics on Overlea (East York Town Centre) to this list.
398 West - Closed due to bankruptcy
I walked by yesterday morning, and a crew of guys was removing various items. Yet another failed restaurant along that strip of Eglinton West . . .
