I've had the '96 and it is excellent. I also had a bottle of the '83 & the '85! Top notch.
Champagne under $50
Moet & Chandon White Star & Veuve Clicquot Brut are both excellent at that price point. And a bit harder to find but worth the search is Pierre Peters Brut NV.

They should call that chain PF Garlic! Have never had a good experience and I tried at least 3 times in different cities.
