New Israel recommendations 2014

Thank you for the reply. I'm open to anything, but I guess I'm looking for either higher quality cooking or different/new ethnic food to be able to experience new things.

New Israel recommendations 2014

Hi all,

I was hoping for recommendations for Israel restaurants...will be mainly in Jerusalem but will be going up north by Tiberias, and likely will be in the Tel Aviv area as well as Kfar Saba. Will be hitting my favorite restaurant Roberg for it's tasting menu but looking for other recommendations as well.

best meal ever

Not to hijack your thread but if you are still in Israel go to the tasting menu at Roberg at Moshav Livnim up north on the kinneret. Was the best meal I've ever had but I've never been to la reserve. Will have to go there next time I'm in Israel- thanks for the tip!

Going back again (I love Miami). Has rare gone downhill since it moved to tower 41? Looking again for the best place for Shabbat meals.

NYC- Best place for ribs

Hi again- one more question- which restaurant in either Brooklyn or Manhattan has the best place for beef ribs? I'm not talking shortribs but the bigger ribs.

NYC kosher New Years events?

Will any of the restaurants be holding New Years events? Or does anybody know about event geared toward younger people that happens to be with kosher food?

NYC bakeries

Hi all,
I'll be in NYC around New Years time- was wondering what bakeries you would recommend. I'll be in Brooklyn but will be going to Manhattan for touristy stuff. I've been craving chocolate croissants and some other tasty dessert items I can't get in Chicago.

Shabbat food in LA

Hi all,

Is there a prepaid restaurant for Shabbat meals in LA kind of like they do in Miami beach?

Passover birthday cake. Not chocolate flour less

My mother makes a pretty good apple cake on Passover. Might take me a few days but if you are interested I could get the recipe.

I hope I'm not being too much of a nudge by bumping this thread. Still looking for what's available for Saturday lunch.

Do mini bottles of wine exist?

We have a good selection at Hungarian Kosher which truthfully I haven't looked for the minis there yet. I was just wondering what was out there.

Do mini bottles of wine exist?

Which brand was it? I am in Chicago so what's available out east may not be available here- but I'm still curious what's out there.

Do mini bottles of wine exist?

Hi,

I remember that they used to have mini bottles of wine (187mL size) available when I was younger, but maybe they were only available in Israel at the time. Anyone see them around?

New Miami Beach info

I know there's a lot of Miami posts. Just looking for current information for when I'll be traveling in March. I'll post my questions here as I do my research.

1. Has anyone tried the new House of Dog restaurant? Looks good! What did it take the place of?

2. For Friday night I think I'm going to eat at Rare Steakhouse, but is anything open for Saturday other than Tower on the Bay (formerly Tower 41)?

3. Anywhere new to try out? I know it's not new but Thai Treat is getting a visit - we love that place. We haven't gone over the restaurants on Aventura yet so we may venture out there as well.

Thanks.

kosher street food- Jerusalem and Tel Aviv (esp. Tel Aviv)

The closest I think you can get in both places is to just walk around Shuk HaCarmel in Tel Aviv and Machane Yehuda in Jerusalem. Lately Machane Yehuda has started to have more of an upscale and cleaned up feel to it. Had lots of fun in both when I was there after Passover.

Kosher Cruising in General and Norwegian Cruise Line specifically

The first cruise line to get something better than Weberman's will really benefit. Wish it would happen sooner rather than later. I love cruising!

Chicago Pizza Shops

Main Pizza combined with Chalavi. The best of the bunch is EJ's. All are still nothing compared to real deep dish pizza :( There are few things I crave since keeping entirely kosher and deep dish is one of them.

Best meal ever

To procrastinate studying, I've decided to start a thread on your best meal ever. Mine was this past spring- the tasting menu at Roberg in Israel. http://www.roberg.co.il/ . The location is right on top of the Kinneret with amazing views (picture below). They have two tv screens playing live views of the kitchen so you can see the chef preparing your courses. It comes with two glasses of wine.

Below is a picture of our first course, filled with multiple salads (including the most amazing liver mousse with candied onions), eggplant with lamb kefka, candied eggplant, and red pepper bread).

The soup course had an orange soup and a leek soup, both amazingly smooth with complex flavors.

Fish course was a whitefish fried with a sweet type sauce drizzled with a wasabi sorbet.

Then had a lemon sorbet cleanser.

Next were five different proteins in succession, 3 different types of chicken entrees, with two beef entrees, one being steak.

The dessert is pictured below, including a chocolate cake and a coconut gel.

We were beyond stuffed and thoroughly enjoyed this meal- highly recommended to anyone going up north in Israel!

Best Vacation Locale?

In late March I spent eight days divided between Rome, Florence, and Venice. Rome's food was great. I set out to try to eat authentic Italian, and I had gnocchi, risotto, fried Jerusalem artichokes, and tiramasu- all to die for. I also stayed at the Home in Rome, one of the kosher bed and breakfasts. So easy to get around in Rome with lots of food options. :)

Kosher Cruising in General and Norwegian Cruise Line specifically

Check out my posts on this thread:

http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/585422

We've done two cruises now with Carnival, getting food shipped from a kosher restaurant to the boat. A tiny bit more cost, nowhere near the cost of taking an entirely kosher cruise, but entirely worth it. If you have questions let me know.

That post was after our first cruise. We did it a second time. Ate ribs :)
