Blount's Clam Shack Providence

This is a bummer! Please do send them this post-- maybe they can improve before they're doomed!

Foodies of New England magazine

Thought folks here might be interested in knowing about a new local food magazine, Foodies of New England. They've recently gone online as well: http://www.foodiesofnewengland.com/

Kitchenbar - Providence

Have heard good things about Doherty's-- will check it out!

Kitchenbar - Providence

I tried Kitchenbar a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty awful. Bland, uninspired food all around and not much of a value for what it is. Also really (really, really) dislike the food at Trinity Brewhouse to which this has been compared. I'd love to find excellent pub food in Providence but these options don't cut it in my book.

Worcester's Best Chef Competition

Love Baba. They can win every time as far as I'm concerned. Seemed like an abundance of tortellini and mac and cheese offered by others. Love Alina from Sweet too. Her place is phenomenal and I'll wait as long as I have to!

Anyone have a Vitamix? [moved from Not About Food]

Thank you everyone-- great replies and lots to consider (counter space being at a premium!).

Anyone have a Vitamix? [moved from Not About Food]

I'm interested in hearing from folks who own this appliance or its equivalent. It seems like a great alternative to a juicer (with many more uses-- soups, peanut butter, etc) but with a $400+ price tag, it's not a purchase I want to make hastily. Thoughts? Thanks!

Best Seafood Dishes in RI?

These are just the sort of out-of-the-fried clam box suggestions I was hoping for! Thank you! Will definitely try these.

More opinions are most welcome!

Best Seafood Dishes in RI?

Off to good start! These sound like great options. Anyone else want to weigh in with their favorites?

Best Seafood Dishes in RI?

I'm compiling information for an article I'm writing and would love to solicit opinions as to the best seafood dishes in RI. We can skip over all clam shack offerings (clam cakes, basic fried seafood) & lobster rolls as I'm looking for those truly special restaurant creations you've discovered. What are your top three seafood dishes and where can I try them? Thanks!

Seeking fine dining near to Coventry/W Greenwich, RI

I'd like to give a gift certificate to some older relatives who don't like to venture too far from home. Any nice dining opitions within a reasonable drive to Coventry/West Greenwich?

Nantucket: seeking dog-friendly patios and delivery

Still on the island but so far have dined outdoors with the pooch at Black Eyed Susan's, Sayles Seafood and Brick Bistro. Breakfast at BES was quite good. Dogs seem to be welcome pretty much anywhere with outdoor seating. Will update dog-friendly list at a later date.

Anyone eaten at Fleur since reopening???

Had dinner at Fleur last night. Not wholly impressed. The tuna tacos were unremarkable ($13) The halibut was beautifully cooked but nothing out of the ordinary ($24) A side of wild mushrooms was over salted and over cooked. Portions are small with sides ala carte. No bread offered-- Sure, I don't need bread but it's nice when your tuna tacos are meager! Was bored enough by the meal that I chose to have dessert elsewhere. Chocolate beignets with caramel sauce at Wolfgang Puck's in the MGM were a treat.

Feelings about Wicked Spoon?

I realize this is an old post but I thought I revive discussion of Wicked Spoon. I just had their brunch buffet and found it exceptional. An abundant selection of interesting items for $22. The salads alone were worth the price. I thought the desserts were terrific too.

[Review] Dinner at Sage at Aria

Great review-- thank you. Can anyone comment on Sage as an option for vegetarians/pescetarians? I've got just one night in vegas coming up and I'd love to find a fabulous tasting...

Nantucket: seeking dog-friendly patios and delivery

Thank you so much for the reply. Will definitely try your suggestions! Hadn't thought to contact the pet store-- great idea.

Nantucket: seeking dog-friendly patios and delivery

Does anyone know if Black Eyed Susan's will permit dogs in their outdoor seating area?

Nantucket: seeking dog-friendly patios and delivery

Should I take the silence to mean my search may prove futile?

Nantucket: seeking dog-friendly patios and delivery

I'll be spending a week on Nantucket and would like suggestions for dog-friendly dining and delivery options. I will be very near to town but without a car and don't want to keep the dog cooped up more than necessary. I'd like to be able to trek around the island and know I can stop by an outdoor patio for a bite with pooch in tow. Seeking both casual sandwich joints (I'm a fan of Something Natural so that's on the list) and maybe some upscale choices if at all possible. Would love your input!

Dining out groups in Providence area?

Does anyone know of any dining out groups in the Providence area? Newly single and missing restaurant excursions!

Worst of Rhode Island

Oh this is sad to hear. I was hoping their ice cream might be worth a try. I do wish the east side had good ice cream offerings.

Worst of Rhode Island

Well, now you have. I've never had a problem with L'elizabeth. As I've said before on these boards, it's expensive and certainly the decor is not to everyone's taste but, works for me.

Worst of Rhode Island

I'm not advocating Tortilla Flats but mere mention of On the Border makes me heave.

Second the Old Canteen. Add Blue Grotto to that list as well.

I have to cancel out Fire & Ice as it's a national chain and would seem therefore not quite to count as "worst in RI."

I agree about Liberty Elm being a disappointment but I also found Modern Diner to be a real downer for similar faults-- overpriced, overcrowded, surly service and bland food.

Many of the more frequently touted RI restaurants would make my worst list, including Twin Oaks, Sienna, Hemenway's, and Pizzico.

Providence-Downcity-Kitchen Nightmares

Thanks for this report. Sounds like it's worth a try.

Providence-Downcity-Kitchen Nightmares

Generic menus abound in this city. The question is, is the food any good?

Providence-Downcity-Kitchen Nightmares

The TV show Kitchen Nightmares just finished a revamp of Providence's Downcity restaurant. I'd be interested to hear from those who have tried the new menu.

perrsimmon provision is open

Had some excellent mushroom soup from there recently!
