Do you like it when your server recognizes you?

thanks for sharing, I would love a memory like that. people can be just wonderful, can't they?

Foods you dread making because they’re time-consuming

same! but I listen to this american life ;)

Do you like it when your server recognizes you?

I love love love my regulars at my serving job, and I hope that they like me too. When I was working for years at *famous coffee chain* it was my regulars who would loan me their umbrellas in the rain, help jumpstart my car, offer me THEIR OWN CAR to use to get to school when the jump didn't work, offer to buy me drinks when they see me out, and just be exceedingly kind when I run into them on the street. To this day (many years later) my friends are amazed that I know "everyone" in town!
In turn, I have also become an unexpected regular at some nearby places. I know servers are always wary of solo young girls, thinking they won't tip. Now that they know me, I get great service, a freebie occasionally, and even better, a ton of juicy insider gossip. Sometimes life is good.

Hangover Foods?

I love this thread. SO funny to see the chowhounds, who are normally eating such fancy food, reverting to taco bell and big macs with no apologies! Hangovers are a powerful thing!

my cure: gatorade, pho (!!!), and sleep.

ORLANDO VISITOR'S DINING GUIDE - A Hound Perspective - Downtown-Winter Park-College Park areas

I agree! I was just in there yesterday. They seriously have the most delicious baklava I've ever eaten. After some inquiry, I found out that it is shipped down from a specialty bakery in Philly. Sort of a bummer it isn't made in house but when its THAT GOOD, who cares?

Blind taste tests that you think would lead to surprising results

actually, unless you buy those tiny finger bananas, all the "normal" bananas people buy are clones of each other! weird, right?

What's the best dish you've ever eaten at a chain? What surprised you most?

jesus, just the thought of chic fil-a makes me drool. I was born in new jersey, but moved to FL at age ten. I'd like to think what I lost (white castle) is more than made up for by the wonder that is chic fil-a.

What's the best dish you've ever eaten at a chain? What surprised you most?
