Glendalough's Profile

Ralph's Bar - Rochester, NY

My ex-boyfriend and I lived in Rochester 1992 - 1993 and we hung out at this bar all the time. He worked at a cable company about a block away and the guys from there were there daily. There was a big brewery across the street. It was owned by an older gentleman named Ralph and his brother. I moved from Rochester in 1993 and have not been back so I have no idea if the bar is still there and I have tried to find it on the internet with no luck. Does anyone remember it?

The best sushi in Concord

This is really sad, but sometimes the pre-packaged sushi at Safeway in the deli area, is better than what you will find in some of the sushi restaurants. I hate that. I don't even consider that sushi, but it will do for the moment. Is there any sushi out there that won't make you sick and not cost a fortune? I'm dying to find some place.

Looking for 2 bars in Orlando

Thanks for the info, I didn't think anyone would remember them. Yep, they were on Sand Lake Road. The Showboat was seedy, but had cheap drinks. Jim's Place next door was cleaner and most of the customers stayed outside.

Looking for 2 bars in Orlando

My boyfriend and I frequented 2 bars in Orlando in 1990 near the Orlando Int'l Airport. They were called Jim's Place and The Showboat (or called The Riverboat). They were next door to each other and were always packed. I don't remember the street they were on. I've been searching and can't find anything on them. Does anyone know if they are still around?

Crab sandwiches - Contra Costa County

Looking for a place that makes really great crab sandwiches, not crab melts, but cold sandwiches. There was a small place in The Cannery in the 1970s that made these that were amazing, but it closed. Even tried contacting the Cannery Association and they weren't any help. I have tried making them but can't duplicate it. and have been craving these for years.

Pee Wee's Pizza, San Leandro

Trying to find out if Pee Wee's reopened yet, or if they are going to remain closed. They had a fire and I heard that they would reopen but not sure if they did.

Jamaican restaurants

Looking for Jamaican restaurants in Contra Costa County. The closest ones that I know of are in Berkeley and Oakland and I don't want to travel that far. Anyone know of any?

Looking for Restaurant no longer in The Cannery

In the late 1970s, my mom and I used to go to The Cannery in SF and get amazing crab sandwiches from a really small food cafe. It was in the courtyard across from where the musicians performed. I went back many years later looking for them and they were no longer there. This was very sad to learn. I have no idea what the place was called or if they are even in business anymore. I contacted the SF Chamber of Commerce and am waiting to hear back from them. If anyone knows about them, please leave a post. I would love to find them again.
