Stem Ginger in Syrup -- source in LA?
Hi. I'm embarking on Pierre Herme's chocolate cookbook. Recipe #1 calls for stem ginger in syrup. Found it online, but not at Surfas, 99 Ranch, Gelsons or Bristol Farms. Anyone know where to find this product locally?
Thank you!

Paris patisserie/chocolate classes
Hello -- I am also going to Paris in April! And am looking for a croissant class. I will share what I find with you re: macarons.
Best chocolates in LA?
Am rewarding two colleagues for killer performance and both love love love the chocolate. Any recommendations for the best chocolates in LA? (Something more personal than Godiva or See's?)
Thanks!
Chinese, Monterey Park, Thanksgiving?
I would love to be more specific. But I can't! I don't know my provinces! Seafood? :0
Chinese, Monterey Park, Thanksgiving?
We're tired of roasting turkeys in the Valley and thought MP/Chinese would be fun. There are so many reviews here and we've never been. Recommendations for current bests?
Thank you!
Holiday brunch Culver City
Sunday brunch, Culver City, what's new, good, holiday? PS: Did Rustic Canyon stop brunch?
Italian or other, SM Blvd/Bundy?
I am drawing blank. Early dinner in this area. Thoughts?
Just moved from NYC to LA...need help!
Another option is Studio City. Yes, it's hot in the summer, but it's a nice walking town, with shops, restaurants, good mass transit, and freeway access. I moved from NYC 15 years ago and have never left SC.
What's good in Brentwood?
Need to meet a friend tonight, cannot recall what's there other than chains. San Vicente or Sunset/Barrington are both OK. Any recommendations? Thanks.
Foodiest Spots in L.A.
I'm a New Yorker living in LA. There are great meals to be had in both cities. When people come here from there, I always always always go to AOC. I love it. They love it. We sit for a good long time drinking wine and eating cheese. What could be bad??
Alternative to Hungry Cat near Arclight HWD?
Taking a friend out for birthday dinner/movie. Going to Arclight Hollywood and she's not a seafood fan. Any suggestions nearby? I'm drawing a blank....
i hate to ask for recommendations but im a bit lost (nyc hound)
As a New Yorker living in LA (for 15 years and still a NYer), I recommend AOC on Beverly; Lucques; Joans on Third; and -- to the likely horror of other Angelenos -- La Vecchia Cucina on Main St, Santa Monica -- fabulous chocolate cake and decent Italian.
