Rehearsal Dinner Venue in Great Barrington Area No I can't give you direct feedback on the veg options but I have known Jeremy for almost 20 years, he is a CIA trained chef and is surrounded by many talented individuals. |

Rehearsal Dinner Venue in Great Barrington Area Jeremy Stanton of The Meat Market in Great Barrington runs Fire Roasted Catering from that site as well. They do all sorts of whole animal roasts, pigs and lambs being their forte. Great people with a farm to table business. |

Longing for Italian and Steak in NW CT/Great Barrington area Couldn't agree more about Bizen, I have never had a meal there that I didn't come away from feeling hipped in some way or another, whether by mediocre food or bad service. Italian and steak you say? As far as Italian goes I prefer Elizabeth's in Pittsfield and Trattoria Rustica also in Pittsfield. Steak is a whole different animal, no pun intended. Prime in Lenox isn't bad, it's not great.... I have been to Rt 7 Grill south of Gt Barrington on Rt 7, i had a nice meal there, not overly memorable but I believe they use grass fed beef etc. there. |

Wonderful dinner at Elizabeth's in Pittsfield MA one of my favorite places :) |

It's not quite a soup, more of a tea...... Simmer 1 chopped head of garlic in 4 cups water for 15 minutes, strain and add 1 cup apple cider vinegar and 1/4 cup honey or to taste. Drink throughout day. |

The permanent Lenox Residents are far from an aging population. Quite the contrary, we like to search out new and exciting restaurants and reserve Nudel for our goto backyard dinner spot. |

Help w/ Western Mass itinerary In Pittsfield there is Mission Bar and Tapas, Y Bar and Thistle and Mirth to name a few. |
|

What are you serving election night? Chicken and Waffles..... |

Foodies Visiting Great Barrington Allium, part of the Mezze Group is a good farm to table place as is John Andrew's although you will find many service oriented complaints. The Meat Market is a direct buy butcher. All the meats are procured very locally. Both of these establishments are in Great Barrington. In the village of Housatonic there is Berkshire Mtn Bakery which specializes in hand made artisanal sourdough bread. In Monterey is Rawson Brook Farm which in my opinion makes the absolute best fresh chèvre anywhere. If you are into a bit of a drive i would highly recommend Mezze Bistro in Williamstown, oustanding farm to table fare with very professional service. |

Recs for lunch on the road from Boston to North Adams/Williamstown? The People's Pint in Greenfield. Farm to table pub that makes their own beer. |

Need recs. in or near Hancock, MA ASAP. Thanks No offense to The Olde Forge, I love the place for the beer, but the food has gone downhill dramatically since the springtime. The beer selection is awesome though. |

Need recs. in or near Hancock, MA ASAP. Thanks As far as food goes: Pittsfield: Mission Bar and Tapas, Y Bar, Thistle and Mirth for drinks and small bites. Spice Dragon is pretty good for Vietnamese and Korean style. In Lenox Jae's Asian opened recently, I haven't gone yet, Nudel which is excellent and Alta which is a decent tourist spot. New Asford(a bit of a drive) has Old Mill on the Floss and just up the road is Mezze Bistro in Williamstown. West Stockbridge has Rouge Bistro. Stockbridge has Once Upon a Table. Great Barrington has Allium, Mezze's sister restaurant. As far as things to do. The Clarke Museum in Williamstown, Hancock Shaker Village in Hancock, Tanglewood in Lenox and Jacob's Pillow in Becket which offers Inside Out, an outside free dance recital which is nightly at six. Hope you enjoy your stay. |

Nudel vs. Alta, Lenox MA - relative pluses and minuses? If you are going to have dinner and then Tanglewood, go to Alta. If it's more about the food experience then go to Nudel. IMHO |

Seafood near Hammonasset State Park Madison,CT We're going to the beach! The family is heading to Hammonasset State park in Madison Ct and we would love some fresh seafood. It doesn't have to be fancy at all but needs to be outrageously fresh and yummy. The kids are chow hounds in training. Where's your favorite spot? |

Where to eat in Stockbridge, MA on the afternoon of July 4? Not a good day to try to get into a restaurant, that being said, the Stockbridge Wine Cellar has some good picnic foods available(they make picnics for Tanglewood) and there are some quiet scenic spots to grab a bite, such as the lawns at The Marion Father's Chapel of the Divine Mercy. |

already?! |

I believe that it was started by a Williams grad. He got a write up in the Eagle last fall. A couple friends have tried it but were less than enthusiastic, but to be quite frank they are pickier eaters than I, so now that the school year has ended the kids and I are going to hunt it down and try. We like adventures. As far as other trucks, not yet. The towns right now are not overly accepting but I am sure that this too shall change. |

Do you know of any new restaurants coming/in the Berkshires? Scott Cole (Caffe Pomo d'Oro, West Stockbridge), purchased the Monterey General Store and will be doing lunches etc.. from that location. |

Birthday dinner in Williamstown Mezze Bistro just south of Williamstown. |

POLL: Can you walk to an actual grocery store? I live in Berkshire County in MA... I have two large chain supermarkets and a high end market that sells NEFF Beef, organic free range chickens, local farm produce etc.... they are all within a mile from my house. |

Catered Barbeque in Western MA? A small BBQ joint in Pittsfield that opened 2 years ago is already expanding into 3 times their original space. I believe they do catering and they have somme really good 'Q. They are called Mad Jack's BBQ. They do have a website... |

Spring Street Pizza-Williamstown, MA I'll have to scrounge around to find out, but I'll get back to you |

Spring Street Pizza-Williamstown, MA So.... in my desperate search for worthwhile pizza in Berkshire County I happened upon a new addition to the pizza experience. Spring Street Pizza in Williamstown, Ma. I have to start out by saying that I am VERY particular about pizza, understanding that there are many "styles" of pizza that are very good. I went to SSP and had their "Green Monstah" specialty pizza, being a rabid Sox fan and it being springtime! It had grilled marinated chicken, spinach, fresh mozz and pesto. It was indeed green and in my opinion a bit wet overall. Personally I thought that the pesto overpowered the spinach and the marinade on the chicken didn't really add to the experience. The crust was alright, it seemed like it didn't cook all the way through.I find that many pizzerias go to the "wood fired" style ovens, whether they are indeed wood fired or the modern gas fired ovens. Having worked in a handful of pizzerias over the years I have used both and have found that there is a major learning curve on these ovens because they all cook differently, even if they are modern "kit" ovens or pre-fab commercial ones. On the menu I noticed that their specialty cheese pizza had both chèvre and feta on it. Personally I would choose one or the other. Quite a few of the specialty pizzas seemed to have one or two ingredients they could have done without. IMHO simplicity is where the absolute best pizza resides. Overall I would give Spring Street Pizza an 82 out of 100. I hope they do well, I'm sure they will, being in a college town, but it's too far for what I would consider so-so pizza. |
