Going to Chinatown for first time in 20 years

Going to an off-off Broadway evening performance on Saturday in the immediate area. We usually eat in Brooklyn's Chinatown eateries but with no recent journeys to Manhattan's your suggestions would be most appreciated. It's just the two of us but we both have good appetites.

Who will have prepared foods for Pesach in Brooklyn?

We were not pleased with last year's order from Chap-a Nosh-any better suggestions would be welcome.

Does anyone sell Shatzkin-like knishes?

Every time I'm on Surf Avenue I point with fondness at the boarded red building where as a child I watched as ladies made these delicious knishes. Is there any similar product being sold ANYWHERE in the metropolitan area?

Need VERY small turkey raw or fully cooked for family of four in Brooklyn

The takeout place we used last year promised us a small turkey but the killer weighed in at 12 pounds. Was delicious but cost an awful lot for the four of us. My wife suggested getting a turkey breast but it just doesn't have that Holiday "look". We are in the sheepshead Bay area but have a car and will travel to seek out our petite bird.

Which Indian Buffet Lunch Would You Recommend on a Weekday Near Baruch College?

It's one of those rare occasions where I'll be dining without my better half and she and Indian food just don't seem to get along.

Gobble Gobble-Need Source for fully cooked Kosher turkey for a Brooklyn Thanksgiving.

Are there any sources of a fully cooked kosher turkey in Brooklyn. I know the delis sell them but we were disappointed with them the two times we tried them and they were very expensive too. We are in the Sheepshead Bay area but have car-will travel. Thanks.

Coney Island: What's The Deal With This Place?

Place is open seasonally-the french fries are completetly different from Nathans and excellent, but the dogs should be purchased at Nathans!

Coney Island Taste ( 2580 Coney Island Ave.) Wonderful food-nice owners-poor choice of name! Been here four times in the last month and it was my choice for Fathers' Day dinner. The restaurant is poorly named as it is NOT near Coney Island-the name stems from the fact that it's on Coney Island Avenue between Neck Road and Avenue W. They are across from the 61st police station. The breakfast/lunch specials are numerous and bargain priced but I've only been there for dinner. They are across from the 61st police station. The breakfast/lunch specials are numerous and bargain priced but I've only been there for dinner. Saturday is their "late" night with closing time at 9PM-the other six days they shut at 8:30. One caveat: CASH ONLY. The Peruvian chicken is as good as any we've had but so...... inexpensive. The maduros, and Peruvian creamy potatoes are wonderful. The avocado salad has plentiful amounts of perfectly ripened fruit. You must try the jalea-a mountain of various fried seafood offerings and enough for 3-4 to share. Who knew tilapia could taste so good? The seafood soup was delicious and is a meal in itself. Ceviche was great and sangria is a must.

ELDRIDGE SYNAGOGUE PROGRAM-NEARBY SUGGESTIONS?

Wow! My wife and I often eat on 8th Avenue in Brooklyn but our friend who's joining us will be mortified if he sees ducks etc. hanging in the window. Any idea which of these are good but wouldn't "alarm" our friend?

Buckley's on Ave. S?

At the insistence of 2 other couples, went to Buckleys tonight. Ordered a porterhouse steak which came with awful salad and vegetable/potato. $28.95 and the worst piece of meat I've ever eaten at any price including my younger days at Tad's. Had we dined alone, it would have been sent back post-haste!

Poor Man's Lobster? OMG! What Did I Do Wrong? Monkfish Disaster!

Now I know monkfish will never win a beauty contest when seen in its natural habitat, but the beautiful fillets nicely priced seemed worth a try. and reasearch said it was a popular fish in Europe-poor man's lobster. We broiled it and basted it with butter/garlic and were sure not to overcook. It had no taste and an offesive rubbery texture. Anyone know what we did wrong or was it the purchase itself that was the error?

L'ECOLE: BRUTALLY HONEST QUESTION

We live in the Sheepshead area of Brooklyn and we are steady customers at a local diner. Sometimes we'll go to the kosher deli or for Turkish or Chinese food. Our 32nd anniversary will soon be upon us and a good friend suggested we splurge and go to a favorite of his- L'Ecole. I am ready to splurge but I want to know if for the amount we'll be spending-food + glasses of house wine could be better spent elsewhere. Open to any cuisines. Thanks!

Jay & Lloyd's Deli (Sheepshead Bay)-- Excellent

We are regulars at Jay & Lloyd's and ate there on 12/25-was very busy. As usual service, food, and atmosphere were perfect. We had pastrami-lean, moist and flavorful; a delicious kasha knish and split pea soup. Cole slaw and pickles on the table are also a plus! By the way, we also do a weekly take-out order which is always top-notch.

Anyone been to Il Posto in Bergen Beach?

Going there on 1/2 with two other couples. Checked out prices on menupages and they seem really high. So..since we are committed to go, if you've been there can you recommend any dishes that are worth the extra gelt?

ARNOLD COOKIES-IS MY MEMORY CORRECT?

Please help settle this-I believe that many years ago Arnold sold cookies in bags similar to the Pepperidge Farm bags except they were not as wide. Distinctly remember the lemon cookies. I'm 61 and my 57 year old brother concurs, BUT when I called Arnold the person I spoke with said Arnold never made cookies.
