Sanam Luang Cafe in North Hollywood or Lotus in Vegas?

I just recently was in Las Vegas and ate at Lotus of Siam (http://eatgohan.blogspot.com/2008/07/...) and when I told my friend about Lotus, my friend who lives near North Hollywood said that there were better places than Lotus right here in the Los Angeles area. My friend suggested Sanam Luang Cafe in North Hollywood. Just wondering if any of CH's ever eaten at both, and what are your thoughts. thanks in advance

IMO The best Thai food ever (Lotus of Siam)

you know i've only tried the larb and sausage from the northern menu. i would love to hear more recommendations from the northern menu. i'm personally not a big fan of any type of soups, but willing to try anything.

ISO Copper River Salmon

I maybe wrong, but i think the season is over? I just had my first experience recently while on business trip to las vegas almost a month ago. IIRC the waiter stated they are only in season for about 8days or so. I have to say it was really delicious!

IMO The best Thai food ever (Lotus of Siam)

Make sure that you make reservations in advance! And never go during lunch! There lunch selection is more like a buffet from my understanding and it is not the same. Only go for dinner. As far as prices go, dishes range from $7-$30 approximately. I would suggest to order family style and share. Don't forget to order some German Reisling to along with the food. They have one of the most extensive Reisling menus around and the prices are extremely fair. Just ask the waiter for suggestions. They are very knowledgeable.

IMO The best Thai food ever (Lotus of Siam)

Every time I go to Las Vegas I have to make it a point to make reservations at Lotus of Siam. IMO it is the best Thai food ever! Don't get me wrong, it's not like like I am a Thai food aficionado, but they simply serve delicious food. I have pictures posted on my blog: http://eatgohan.blogspot.com/2008/07/...
I was wondering what others order when they eat here or do you guys recommend other places in the area?

philly cheesesteak!

IMO.... Philadelphia Sandwiches in North Hollywood is the best. I love the bread and the meat, although I wish there was more cheese served in the sandwich. I'm sure if you ask you can get it though. I love it here! http://eatgohan.blogspot.com/2008/06/...

Delicious Japanese Tempura Specialist: Komatsu [Review] w/ Pics!

Great review! I got to give it try. The best tempura that i've had in the states was at the tempura bar at new otani hotel. The tempura there used to be the closest thing to the real deal in Japan.

Hands Down - THE BEST meal I've had - CUT - BH

I recently ate at Lugers and IMO, Cut was better. At first glance you might think you are getting ripped off, but the servings are plenty.

Osteria Mozza pasta tasting menu (pictures)

I thought about that the portions in relation to the cost, but believe me... I was stuffed and satisfied. Mario's restaurant in NY, Babbo, the portions were slightly more generous than Osteria.

Osteria Mozza pasta tasting menu (pictures)

I finally ate at Osteria Mozza and I loved it. Couple of months ago I went to Mario's other restaurant Babbo in New York, so I didn't have high expectations of Osteria, but I was pleasantly surprised. My wife and I order the pasta tasting menu. IMO, with each course the dinner got progressively better. I thought that Babbo was only slightly better than OM, but the desserts here at Osteria Mozza was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes off of the regular menu. There are so many things I want to try.

Hands Down - THE BEST meal I've had - CUT - BH

Never heard of Cut offering a steak tasting. I've tried their American New York and the Japanese Wagyu Rib Eye, but I would love to have steak tasting. What cuts of meat did it include? I agree this place is the best.

Shishito peppers--where else to try them

my favorite places to eat shishito is Koshiji in Little Tokyo. They grill these with a miso glaze. They are absolutely delicious. Also, I always order the garlic shishito at Tokyo Table, also very delicious!

Although they don't have charcoal grills. I thought Chosun Galbee was pretty good. Not the best but definitely good.
