Boiled crawfish by the pound

Any one know of places to buy boiled crawfish by the pound (take home). I saw an ad for crawfish at Fiesta last night on TV. Any reviews? How often to they have them?

Poboy stop off I-10 between Houston and Lake Charles

Husband and I are driving to New Orleans from Austin on Wednesday. I am looking for a great po-boy spot somewhere between Houston and Lake Charles for lunch. We could go as far as Lafayette before stoping for lunch. Anything close to I-10 would be perferable so don't loose too much time on the road.

Brunch and Football

Anyone know of a place that has a Sunday brunch menu and will be showin multiple NFL games? Even a place with a good lunch menu with multiple games (possibly having some keyed up) would work.

Thanks.

Red Wine and BBQ [moved from Austin board]

I have to say I enjoy a good red wine with my BBQ as well. I would never have thought to pair it, but on a trip to Napa we went to an upscale BBQ place that was all about the wine pairing. It was delicious. Thinking about it you do wine with steak, why not a good piece of smoked brisket. Also I think the smokiness of the meat can bring out undertones in and really compliment the wine. I say be a rebel and order wine. Maybe then BBQ joints may start offering a better wine selection :)

Hearthstone in Breckenridge

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend stay in Breckenridge. On Thursday night we went to Hearthstone for their 3 course pre-fix dinner. I have to say it was wonderful. Everything about Hearthstone screams romantic mountain getaway. We arrived at 8:30 just as the sun was finishing to set. They had tables available outside so we went for one. The staff quickly came over and turn on a heat lamp which was needed by the end of the dinner to eat comfortably in shirt sleeves. The white iron work around the dining area and the aspen trees made for such a romantic setting.

Now for the food. The food was fantastic. Everything was fresh and local. My husband and I started with sharing the wild boar sausage and then both had the caprise salad. I then had the lamb shank and he had the crab stuffed trout. Being from MD and La. I was leary of the "crab stuffed" but taking a taste of his it was wonderful. Great amount of crab and did not over power the trout. My lamb shank was cooked with a fresh peach salsa and had a side of fresh spinach that was perfectly wilted by the heat of the lamb shank by the time it arrived at the table. I had never seen that type of prep with spinach and I have to say I loved it. Still fresh but slightly "cooked" and mixed with the juices from the lamb and salsa. We finished with the crem burlee. All in all the dinner and service were wonderful. Also the price was very reasonable for the quality of the food.

JAX Fish House Oyster Week

Has anyone been to the oyster tasting dinners in the past during the Jax oyster week? We just made resverations for the 3 course menu and was just looking to see what to expect.

We love going to the happy hour there, so am excited to finally dine there. My husband is an oyster nut so couldn't pass up an all oyster tasting menu.

Denver Restaurant Week- Best place for the price

I have recently moved to the Denver area and this is my first restaurant week in Denver. Based upon my experience in other cites there are certain places the restaurant week menu is a steal and showcases the restaurant and others that are not worht it seeing 1) the signauter dishes are not included or 2) dining there normally would be cheaper and the better choice.

Just looking for some help navigating. So many places to choose from!! We may have to go more than once.

Help for Wedding Reception!

I got married last spring at Latrobes on Royal. The chef there is fantastic. It was not typical "wedding food". Our out of town guests loved it and still rave about the shrimp and grits. It was once the bank of Louisiana. With 150 guests, she maybe looking at more of the ballroom or reception hall place rather than the restaurant route. Other places we looked was Brousarrds for a court yard wedding (may be hot in May).

Special Occassion Place in Denver

My husband recently got some good news about graduate schools that is worth celebrating. I am looking for a true special occassion place. Thinking of some place with excellent food and amazing service. Pre-fix or special menus a plus.

Trying to find some place interesting outside the "steakhouse" relm. I know Elways, Morton's, Cap Grille are nice but have been to several over the years. Looking for something unique.

Steamed crabs in Baltimore- how much are they running?

Any one had crabs yet this season? Just checking on prices this year. I figure they will be going up as some of the supply of crabs from the gulf will be lower this year. Boo BP :(

Anywhere serving La. Gulf oysters in Baltimore?

Hello All,
I'm a New Orleans native living in Baltimore. My husband has a love affair with our gulf oysters. We even had an oyster bar at our recent wedding in NOLA. Due to the oil spill that will damage many of the oyster beds, my goal for this weekend is to find him some of these oysters up here for one last major feast since may be awhile till they are safe to eat again.

Does any one have leads on who usually serves them? We eat at Mama's on the half shell and Oceanaire quite a bit and I have never seen them served there. Looking for other leads.

Foodie Wedding - Latrobe's

I am getting married at Latrobe's in two weeks. When we went to the tasting the Chef made large sizes of a few of the dishes on the menu and some not on menu to showcase that the food can be flexible. We had something they called Beef Latrobes. Its almost like a beef stew severed over grits. Out of this world. We are getting that instead of a pasta dish. Another great thing was the ahi tuna wonton. It was so different than I was expecting reading it off the menu. He also prepared a smoked scallop that would work very well for the small plates. I think you are in good hands. I am so excited for the food at our wedding. I can't wait. We are doing passed boudin balls, which I think are a must at Latrobes.

Jacque-Imos- ordering?

They usually have a blackend redfish (or some subsitiute) on the menu. I've had it before. It does come in a butter based sauce, so you may want to ask for light on the sauce or have it one the side.

Food at Latrobes

Hello,
My fiance and I just reserved Latrobe's on Royal for our wedding reception. I am looking for any reviews on the food at the venue. Were there any items that were amazing and a must have, any thing kinda fall flat?

We really like that they had a chef on staff that can create a unqiue menu for our wedding. I am just trying to gage from some readers past experiences what was good.

The chef also owns the resturant Bouche (I think that what its called) So any comments on that resturant are gladly received as well.

Best sushi in Baltimore

Matsuri is my favorite. I know other posts have knocked places rolls, but my favorite one at Matsuri is the Cinco De Mayo roll. It was a special roll in may but we order it everytime we go and fight over who gets the last piece each time.

Coming from Baltimore to Denver on 9/12? Recs. needed

Hello,
My boyfriend and I are taking a weekend trip to Denver. We are arriving on Friday the 12 and leaving on Sunday. We are looking for a few local gems to eat at. Here are our needs:

-Friday- fine dining resturant for dinner, prefer French or up scale American to Italian. Any local steak houses would be fine also (no chains as we have all of the major ones in Baltimore)

-Saturday night- fun bar to watch the USC/ Ohio State game. If there is a USC local support bar that would be preferable as my boyfriend is a fan. Looking for some good pub grub on that night.

-Sunday- fun brunch spot. Is there a place that claim the best Bloody Mary in town?!

Also any recs. regarding local Colordao fare we should try would be awesome. (i.e. if you come to Baltimore you must get a crab cake!)

Cheese Fries - Baltimore

I'm glad I saw this post. I'm from New Orleans and one late night bar F&M's has the best cheese fries of all time. Big waffle cut fries with lots of melted cheddar cheese (no whiz) and then can get any topping you would get on a loaded baked potato. Oooh just talking about them makes me crave them.

Hopefully someone posts where to find cheese fries like those on this thread.

Looking for outdoor romantic place in baltimore?

My boyfriend and I would like to spend a romantic dinner on Saturday night. We would like some place with an outdoor space and possibly a nice location for a romantic walk before or after dinner.

Lunch spot for meeting the parents, pre-cruise, and a taste of the Big Easy

Hello,
I am originally born and rasied in New Orleans but currently living in Baltimore. My boyfriend and I are taking a cruise that departs from New Orleans. As part of our trip, I am having him meet my parents. Since we are departing for a cruise we only have about 2 hours from airport till the time we need to board the boat. I am looking for a good place for Lunch that can show my boyfriend what New Orleans is all about, open for lunch, and sutiable for parent meeting. All the places I've come up with (Commanders, etc.) will take too long for lunch. Any suggestions (seafood joints/ casual/ slightly upscale suggestions all welcome)

Oh and would like it to be close to the port, in case we are running late.

Bachlorette Party Dinner in Annapolis?

We are planning a bachlorette party and are looking for a place to eat dinner in Annapolis. There will be about 15 women. We are getting a party bus from Baltimore to Annapolis and then on to D.C. We are looking for a moderate priced place that may have a private room (since we may be a bit rowdy from the party bus!)

Shrimps with heads for seafood stock?

For Easter I am planning on making Seafood Gumbo. As a native of New Orleans, I would like to make my own seafood stock, perferably shrimp based. For this I need some shrimp with heads on them still. Does anyone know somewhere in Baltimore or Sliver Spring area that sells them?

If not, can anyone recommend a good store bought seafood stock?
