McAuslan Brunch anyone go ?

Last year we couldn't get reservations because they were out by late January. This year we called in advance, we got a table. Pretty sure it's happening :). Though I'm also sure that there are no more tables, unless last-minute cancellations occur (we've got until Sunday to cancel/modify, otherwise our credit card is charged 50%).

McAuslan Brunch anyone go ?

Hey, MtlChris, I think we sat at the same table :). I was the one who asked for the second serving of braised beef...

CocoBean, the reason no-one mentioned the quail/hen is because they didn't serve us any at the first service! "Quel scam", to quote my gf :)

We had quite a nice time. Personally, I went into a "food coma" right after, probably because of the numerous pints of McAuslan and the relatively large quantity of food. We enjoyed the beans and pheasant dish, the "omelette", the carpaccio. Overall, it was a nice experience and we're happy we did it.

Compared to the APDC's St-Patrick's brunch last year ($45/person, 6 courses, no beer) this was definitely a good deal.

Attached a picture of Martin stroking the lobster :)

Pho in Montreal: 2009

Went to Chez Nga yesterday with gf, after reading the above review. Had a spring roll appetizer (nothing special) and a bowl of pho each. I had the #11, "soupe tonkinoise avec boeuf saignant" and gf had the #12, pho with well-done beef. The broth was indeed very nice and was the highlight of the meal. The noodles were also nice - not overcooked. The "rare" beef was way, way overcooked. Also, we were very disappointed by the quantity of meat - my soup barely had 3-4 small pieces in it. Gf's soup was the same. I could've easily eaten 2-3 times more meat than that! Good thing we had some nice pastries at the Pekarna next door, otherwise I would've left hungry after a pho (which has yet to happen after eating at any of the pho places on CDN).

The search for good pho near Guy/Atwater continues.

Restaurant du vieux port

Tres ordinaire comme resto!

Happening gourmand

I second the recommendation about skipping "restaurant du vieux port", it's not really worth it. My gf and I really enjoyed the $15 menu at Mechant Boeuf. That burger was tasty!

St-Patrick's Day at APDC

meh, my photo attachment skills are obviously not great

St-Patrick's Day at APDC

PS: The oysters

St-Patrick's Day at APDC

It was not that bad and, as jellybelly25 said, very very filling! We really liked the oysters, the soup, the steak pie and the Guiness cheddar. The kidney and steak pie was OK, while the cod was way too salty.

But it was well worth the $45 tag (and the atmosphere was great).
