Persimmons: best place to buy/order a case
pointy persimmons can be eaten in 24 hours when you bring them home put them in the freezer for 24 hours then let them thaw: mushy and delicious right away or eat semi defrosted for an ice cream like treat enjoy

L'espalier will be closed early september due to move, went to 9 park last year, was great, dissapointed by aujourdhui, excelsior, and sorrelina..
Thinking about Oya omakase (have not been yet), any other options?

Icky Icarus
went for $30 menu. had house cured cod app: awful, oversalted, dry, polenta app OK, steak salad very average, main dishes: bluefish: outstanding, pork shoulder: bad, tough meat, peach cobbler was good for desert, chocolate ganache ok
booth seating very uncomfortable seats, not enough room for 4 adults
we probably got the same zombied waitress.
white santenay was good though

premetta
Does anybody know how this grape variety tastes
06 Prëmetta, Grosjean Frères, Vallee d’Aoste I am going to a tasting next week this on the list, was wondering what kind of wine it is

White Asparagus
white asparagus in europe is only available for a short time a month or so when it is in season, the reason it tastes so good is because it is incredibly fresh. white asparagus from peru has much less flavor and inferior texture

Russian restaurants
Unfortunately there are no good authentic russian restaurants in Boston, real stuff is all in NY. Most of the food you are going to get at Vernisage, Victors, (also on Beacon) Samovar is the same (or worth) quality as premade food available for carryout you are going to get at Bazar or Russian Village stores for one fifth of the price. Being russian myself I know ;-)
Bazar on Cambridge ave in allston is owned by the same people as Bazar on Beacon but is a little cheaper and has more variet y of certain things, they do not slice cold cuts or cold smoked fish there and have no fresh baked goods or alcohol. Check out poppyseed rolls in Bazar on Beacon.

Cocktail Recommendations at No. 9 Park?
No10 is great, they gave me the printed recepie on how to make it at home, guess I was not the first one who asked, but it was not even close to the one they make, I think they put in less Campari, and an egg white for smoothness, I played with it a lot at home, still cannot make it as good as the one at the restaurant. Any hints or ideas?

RW in Pigalle and Lumiere
Hi, guys here is report on two visits we made this RW.
Pigalle have been here several times during regular menus and previous RWs: fantastic, great service, I had duck liver pate, my wife had steak tartare, entries steak and cassoulet, deserts: chocolate cake and creme brulee. great not rushed and attentive service despite full dining room on Monday, for wine had great although expensive red from Bandol, went great with food.
Lumiere, never been before: different crowd then Pigalle, service was fine, tables way too close to each other, can here every single word of your neighbours....
apps: cauliflower leek soup with maine crab and spices, brandada was the other one, main dishes: bauvette steak, veal shouler braised with veggies (was not on a menu, special that night), deserts, choc mousse and pineapple sorbet with coconut soup. wine: another red Bandol. overall poor performance, food lukewarm, was not bad, but uninspired, the best part was the pineapple sorbet. No privacy. No desire to return to Lumiere. Pigalle was great
