Whole Foods sells a brand under the name Rosebud. It's excellent. While it's not neon green the flavor is very clean, sweet and minty. I love it with baby lamb chops.
Looking for a similar place like Neptune Oysters
I agree elbev. While many high end places serve lobster rolls I think Neptune is in a class by itself. Everything I have eaten there has been wonderful. I always leave with a big smile and a full stomach.
Moon Brine pickle dude is moving to Oregon
The POE ones you speak of are very crunchy but they just taste like salted cucumbers. They are very plain tasting half sours. I still buy them and enjoy them but the Grillios have more flavor. Moonbrine were the best that I had locally.

Seaweed salad
I love their seaweed salad and always order it as one of my sides but when you buy it from them it's very expensive. I was at the Chestnut Hill location and a pint was 15.00 so I did not get it. Why is it so expensive?

Hot and Sour Soup
China Sky in Wellesley and Winchester makes a really nice Hot and Sour Soup. I am craving it so badly today. Sichaun Garden's version is excellent too, very hot.

I had my first and only one at Bread and Chocolate Bakery in Newtonville. My friends introduced me to them and they were so good. Crusty and brown on the outside and custardy on the inside.
What to buy at Stonewall Kitchen
Have lunch in the cafe. Get the lobster sandwich. Truthfully the store is way more expensive than buying the stuff at Russos. I learned that the hard way.

Are you for real? I went last week and thought it was dreadful. To even put it into the same category with L'Espalier is outrageous. The service stinks. The servers hand you the plates instead of placing them in front of you. The food was very very average. I had the corned beef sandwich and my husband had the burger. Not good. The hamburger was so scary looking that my husband who loves burgers was afraid to eat it. Looked like something you would be served on a plane. It was a peppercorn burger. I felt badly for him so I gave him half of my sandwich. The fires are frozen steak fries. All night long we had the taste of that food in our system and we kept saying to each other. Never again. Oharas is much much better.
Legal C Bar Dedham
I remember the Legal C Bar they used to have in Copley Square. It was very good because there was a Caribbean theme to it. Lots of spiciness. I wonder if they will do the same.

Best price for nuts?
Russo's in Watertown has the freshest nut selection and very good prices. I too wish pecans were not so expensive. Trader Joes also has great prices on nuts, especially pistachio nuts.
Xmas ham?
Niman Ranch hams are great. Bought one a few weeks ago at Whole foods and it was really different but wonderful. My favorite is Harringtons of Vermont which is available online.

I agree the Lobster Savannah is very close to the Thermidor and so delcious.
take-away or take-out options christmas eve
Just came from there because we are having family over tonight. Bought some Nantucket bay scallop chowder and potato Chestnut with caramelized onions. I also got some lobster chive cheese spread. I will use it with the bread they give you for the soup.
Fresh Chinese wheat noodles at Russo
I love them too. Bought some last week and made peanut noodle salad with them. They have the best Chinese produce too.
Most Delicious Tuna Crudo
I really love Tuna Crudo and had a delicious one the other night at Campania in Waltham. It was served on thinly sliced cucumbers with segments of tangerine. Where are some of your favorites and how are they prepared.
Dark and moist gingerbread
Had the gingerbread at Craige on Main tonight. Spectacular! I remembered you told me to get it if I went there to eat. The entire meal was perfect from start to finish and the service matched the quality and creativity of the food. One of the finest dinners I have had out recently. Thanks for the suggestion.
The best and worst of Brookline?
That is disgraceful and pathetic. I will never go there again after hearing that. My friend was telling me that her father was thrown out of there for asking if they roast their own turkey breast. No food is worth putting up with abusive behavior. When I was in New York eating at Carneige they tried to charge me a sharing fee even though all of us ordered plenty of food and even beer. I told them no and they did not.

I agree China Sky is perfect. The private room is nice and the food is quite delicious. One of my favorite Chinese restaurants.
Neptune Oyster 1st timer
While I do enjoy their lobster rolls and incredible oysters, what I really love is their dishes. Last time I ate there I had pan seared diver scallops with fresh figs and hazelnuts. Their Ciopino is out of this world. I once saw a woman next to me eating their burger which was topped with fried oysters. I cannot say enough great things about Neptune. It steals my heart.
Where to get fruitcake ingredients???
There is a little shop right on the corner of the same street as Neptune Oyster in the north End. It's an old shop that sells lots of spices, nuts and they have big jars on the counter were they sell chunks of glazed citron. There is always a black cat wandering inside. He lives there.
