If you could only go to one brunch in Charleston, where would it be?

Driving from Atlanta to Charleston

Can anyone recommend a decent lunch spot approximately halfway between Atlanta and Charleston? I live in San Francisco and don't even know what towns we'll be driving through yet. Any input is much appreciated. I guess I'm looking for bbq or southern food or just not a chain fast food place.

Atlanta eats

I'll be in Atlanta for two nights later this month. I won't have a car and am staying downtown at the Hampton Inn on Spring Street - are there any good restaurants in the area? Breakfast at least? Also, is Home easy to get to without a car? Does MARTA go anywhere close or is it an affordable cab ride? Any recommendations near a venue called the Center Stage on W Peachtree (http://www.centerstage-atlanta.com/)? Thanks.

Anyone know where to find Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers in Charleston?

We are having a family reunion and meeting in Charleston. My brother is making chocolate bavarian cream pie, an old family recipe which none of us have ever encountered anywhere else. It is supposed to be made using the Famous Wafers but my brother cannot get them in Maine (he uses Oreos, but says it's not as good). I am in San Francisco and I've seen them here in the past and of course I promised to bring them to the reunion to make the pie crust and now can't find them. I'll check Publix in Charleston - thanks!

Charleston - looking for local meat & veg

Thanks! What about cheese? Are there any cheese shops and good local cheeses?

Charleston - looking for local meat & veg

I have a family reunion and will be staying on Isle of Palms in a rented beach house for a week in July. Would love to source some local free range eggs, organic produce and local bacon, pork, beef, etc. to take advantage of the kitchen and save some money not eating out every meal. Is there a good farmer's market in the Charleston area? What about butcher shops, bakeries and the like?

Cheers,
Jo

Cheese Plate in Las Vegas

Fleur de Lys in Mandalay Bay has a great cheese course. I have also heard that L'Atelier at MGM Grand has a nice cheese plate.

Best Bloody Mary in Vegas now that Commander's Palace is closing?

Okay, now that Commander's Palace is closing indefinitely, who has the best Bloody Mary in Vegas? I arrive the day after Commander's Palace closes, sigh...

Pie and Mash? Jellied Eels? Cockney Cuisine?

Hi Nate,

You'll be lucky. I've never encountered pie and mash or jellied eels anywhere but the East End. Please let me know if you find pie and mash anywhere on this continent. My husband & I will be eternally grateful.

Weird Fish?

The cross street is 18th. I liked the clam chowder but it isn't very New England-y. Too herby. Reminded me of the chowder at the Marshall Store but with a lot more clams (that's a good thing).

Weird Fish?

It opened yesterday. We went last night and everything we had was quite yummy - catfish po'boy, shrimp & crab sandwich, clam chowder, fries and mashed yams. The fries are a mix of potato and yam and they are really tasty.

Yankee Pier at SFO

As a New Englander exiled in San Francisco I was more than happy to try Yankee Pier last month at SFO. The chowder was disappointing. The lobster meat in the lobster roll was overcooked and chewy, it was also spicy (?). I couldn't eat it. My husband (not a New Englander) did not like his lobster roll but he did enjoy the chowder. Not even the fries were good. Can't wait to try Old Port Lobster Shack.....
