We eat pumpkin Pie for the Gourd. My wife bakes it but I am sure that you can buy kosher pies.

"Mother-in-law" restaurant in the Valley

The airport restaurant is 94th Aero Squadron. The food is ok but it is fun watching the planes. We are going there tonight. It is owned by Specialty Restaurant Group which also owns The Odyssey and Castaways and The Proud Bird. Costco has gift cards for them. You pay $80 and get 2 $50 gift cards.

appliance shopping - los angeles area

We purchased our Wolf range from Waadt and were very happy with them. The sales person was helpful and their prices were comparable to everyone else. As someone earlier mentioned there isn't much price difference on the high end appliances. They don't install but we used a Wolf authorized installer and received an extra year of warranty.

PizzaRev – just came to Pasadena

We have a Pizza Rev in Northridge and I think that its pretty good. Blaze Pizza has more choices of toppings and I like it better. There is a Blaze on Colorado in Pasadena and one in La Canada at ACH and Foothill in the Sport Chalet center.

What restaurant do you really really really miss that is now closed ?????

I have to agree with others about Will Wrights and The Wiener Factory. At Will Wrights I would get a sundae with a scoop of regular whipped cream and a scoop of chocolate whipped cream, no sauce. I also miss Moskva Cliffs and near that was a small Italian restaurant called Villa Castriota. It was in what used to be a small house. The lights would dim often during dinner. They lost that location and moved to Tarzana but that location didn't last long.

What stove would you buy?

I have a 36" all gas Wolf range that we bought about 8 months ago. It has the sealed burners which makes it real ewasy to keep clean and continoud grates. The burners put out lots of heat but also go really low for simmering. You can turn the convection fan on or off depending on how you want to cook. The only problem that I have had is the light switch for the oven. They changed the design of the switches recently and the light switch stopped latching. It was replaced under warranty without any problem. When we purchased the range they had a promotion that if you had it installed by one of their certified installers you received an additional year of warranty.

Remember these Restaurants?

My wife and I will always remember Robaires. We live in the Valley and we were going to go to Robaires for our first anniversary dinner. We got off the Hollywood Freeway at Highland and ran into bumper to bumper traffic. We slowly made our way to Franklin, got back on the freeway and got off at Cahuenga to be greeted with more traffic. We forgot that it was the night of the Hollywood Christmas Parade and there was no way we were going to get south of Hollywwod in time for our dinner so we turned around and had dinner at Rive Gauche instead.

Los Angeles Restaurants in the 80's

We went to Moska Cliffs many times but there was a small Italian retaurant down the street on Venture Blvd called Villa Castriota. It was in what was probably a house originally. I believe that they lost their lease and moved to Woodland Hills. They didn't last very long at the new location.

Center Cut Brisket

I am smoking one. Putting it up very early Wednesday morning. When braising in the oven I cover it with Montreal Seasoning and cook it dry for about an hour at 400 then add some beef bullion and cover it and let it go at about 300 for another 4 hours.

Los Angeles Restaurants in the 80's

My family was going to Victoria Station once for a birthday and were in the funicular when it got stuck about half way up. The fire department had to come adn pry the doors open and use a ladder to get us out. Everyone in the car got a free dinner that night. We also used to go to the Velvet Turtle both on Sawtelle and on Victory Blvd at Owensmouth.

Jack’s Gourmet Sausages at Costco

I just bought some Sweet Italian at my local butcher today. I also like the spicy italian and the southwest one. I also saw Jacks Facon. I usually use Aaron's beef fry and like that and it was cheaper than Jacks. When I am in the neighborhood here in LA i also great great sausages from Jeff's Gourmet. They have lots of flavors and are freshly made locally.

The entrees are out of your price range but the pasta dishes are ok. If you go ask for the cheese when you sit down.

Favorite All-You-Can-Eat Restaurant?

The Odyssey has a decent Sunday brunch. The view is always good. It is even a better deal if you stop off at Costco and get the gift cards. You get 2 fifty dollar gift cards for 80 dollars.
