Kosher Spare ribs at Costco
I saw packages of Meal Mart spare ribs at Costco the other day. I am not a fan of much of anything from Meal Mart but I was wondering if anyone has tries them. I believe that they were Kosher for Passover.

Starlite did my wedding and my kids' bnai mitzvot and I have been to many affairs that they have catered and always have had great food. They are not cheap though.

While the Odyssey is not great it is an OK brunch. If you have the time to go to Costco before you go they have discount cards for the Odessey. You can buy 2 $50 Speciality Restaurant gift cards for $79.
Lunch - Olympic and Bundy
There are always trucks there , I just don't visit most of them as I would rather sit down and enjoy my food, I make an exception for the Philly truck and bring it back to work with me. I have eaten from the Barbie's Q truck which is ok but not great sandwiches.

For my ribs i just use a rub and don't foil them. I use charcoal and either oak or pecan chips or a combination of them. I do the same thing for brisket. I use a weber kettle one touch with a pan of water in the middle and the coals on the side and come up with some pretty good bbq.
Lunch - Olympic and Bundy
I work at Olympic and Bundy also and go to the shops there also. Besides Good Stuff and Tacos Por Favor I also like the Greek Kabob place and North End Pizza. I prefer El Super Taco on Santa Monica better than Tacos Por Favor and it is not a bad walk if you have an hour.I also like the South Philly Experience truck for cheesesteak sandwhiches. It parks on Olympic in front of the office buildings west of Bundy at least once a week and also on Pennsylvania and 26 a couple times a week.
Best Philly (style) Cheese Steak in LA?
I will second SPE. Worth finding their truck for lunch or dinner.

We go there often and I recommend it when people ask about someplace in Encino/Sherman Oaks.
It is a small place and you get very good service. They always have a number of fresh soups on the menu and the food is always good.

Another Thermometer Question--Snap Judgment?
i use a Nu Temp NU701 remote thermometer. It has a wireless transmitter and a remote receiver. I have had it for many years and use it in my oven and BBQ. I replaced the probe once and replacements are available on the web site.

The Caterer at Valley Beth Shalom in Encino also does outside catering. I have been to dozens of events that they have catered including my wedding and have always been impressed. They have kosher cerifications that my wife's orthodox relatives respect.

What Barbeque is best, Charcoal, Gas or Electric?
Charcoal and gas both have their place. If you have the room i would buy one of each. I have a Weber one touch charcoal that I use for indirect bbqing and sometimes for grilling when I want charcoal taste. I use my gas bqq for easy convienient grilling.

Gio Cucina would be good for you. It is small but not very noisy. They have many items that would be considered vegitarian and alays a bunch of soups that are vegetarian and non dairy.

Castaway Brunch
I haven't been to the brunch at the Castaways but I go to the one at The Odyssey.It is owned by the same group and has a nice view of the San Fernando Valley also and about 15 minutes closer to Santa Monica. The brunches are OK and the views are nice. There is another from the group in Marina Del Rey called Shanghai Reds.

Late Night West Side Taco Trailer - Doing Big Business
I sometimes have to go in to work early and see this truck. I have been meaning to try it sometimes but I am usually in a hurry to get to work. I have taken non jewish co workers to Jeff's and they have always enjoyed the sausages there.I stop there for lunch when I am in the area and often take some home. They have many varieties that they make in house.
