Reviews of Passover Hotel Programs?

Five Star was at the Gran Melia Puerto Rico last year. I havent seen any feedback but i heard they ran a nice program last year. not sure why they switched places this year. I cant remember who Five star is but I think theve been around a few years and last year the guys from paradise joined with them and took over running the program.

Great program, they always run a top notch job in food and programing and the price is terrific for what they give you. I know may people who went there and they all rave. Did they have over 1200ppl again. Last year that was the only complaint, too many people and too many kids. in diclosure that complaint was from a few older senior folks

Actually our program had a tea room that was open after the meals for a few hours at a time. Not a 24hr tea room. Nowadays when programs charge upwards of 4k per adult people expect their moneys worth and a food orgy. The mid level programs after trying to keep up have gone back to pairing down tea rooms, buffets etc to keep the pricing more reasonable and just like the client is hurting from the economy so are the programs. This year many people that used to run multiple properties ran only one or two and the weeling and dealing was definately to the customers advantage.

Reviews of Passover Hotel Programs?

We just came back from the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. The hotel is great although too big to run a small pesach program. The staff is as friendky and accomodating as any of the best hotels in the world. The program is Gemstar Tours which used to be Palace Tours. Palace has had some good years and one or too not soo good(hence i assume the name change). The food was for the most part very good. The breakfasts were pretty standard and covered all the basics, eggs, cereal,2 tyoes lox, cc, and some salads and a hot buffet with scrambked eggs, mini quiches, pancakes hash browns etc. Not over the top but more than enough. The lunches were also good but mostly redundant on the cold items with a hot buffet also with ff,fish, and potato and a pasta dish. the dinners they put their money into with the main course with steak, duck, prime rib, and two tyoes of veal. the issue was a few minor things, they didnt always have a appetizer, you had the premium main choice and chicken and a kids option and deserrt was pretty shwach, a few pieces of cake served family style. For the most part what the chef cooked was quite good tasting. interesting enough the first days it sometimes felt like they would run out of food but by shabbos and the last days they couldnt stop throwing the food at you.I think they had a behind the scenes problem gauging how much food to put out when and at what time. They also had a bbq each afternoon with hamburgers/hotdogs and chicken cutlets. Not fancy or over done but a nice touch. The tea rood was pretty basic untill shabbos when they started running out of items. again either mismanagement or maybe on purpose as some items later started appearing in smaller quantities for the second days. by the last day they were pretty much wiped clean. Also the yom tov kiddushim were pitiful. Even at this price level the type of kiddush was pitiful. Overall even though Lenny had some prev issues other years he did a pretty good job and gave you what you expected for the price and everyone was basically satisfied. he picked a pretty good caterer to avoid the issues he previously may have had.

Yes, I have some family members that went with them this year. The place was nice a typical laquinta hotel. Small, clean and nice, not many frills. The food was very plain and simple, nothing fancy and not extensive in choice or menu. It was very heimish and for the most part heimish. The Tenebaums who ran it were from Lakewood so the crowd was typical clack hat/chasidish. The only very annoying complaint is they had a lot of family members who walked around and acted as spies. If they heard someone complaining or saying something bad about the food or anything they would up to the people and admonish them for talking lashon hara. not very professional, business like and really pretty dopey. Bad for business if you ask me. Overall they had a prettyy good time and basically got what they paid for.

I would check out the Westin Fort Lauderdale. Majestic is agreat program and their qouted rates are very reasonable. Beach, Hot weather, what could be bad. BTW if you want skiing there are two programs in Quebec/montreal.

MY INLAWS WENT THERE LAST YEAR. The food is plentiful good and tasty. The program is very good. One issue they had is they pack the place, well over 1k people so the buffets are very long and elevators long wait and pool very crowded. That may not bother you but for older people its an issue. otherwise great

Paradise Kosher In Scottsdale - A Review

We were a large group that went with PKT for the second year. We expected to have excellent food as the previuos pesach was really good. Unfortunately due to many possible reasons the food was hit and miss. The chef prepared some dishes that were excellent and delicious and some items were just awful. It is really hard to understand how you could be great and awful at the same meal. The selection also left some to be desired. The redundancy of the same food was also not good. Also each dinner menu that the waiters showed us were allways changed and ususally not for the better. Also the buffet lines with that amount of people were way to long. I dont know how to get around that but it was a bad situation. Usually the food is good and you live with it,here some things were outstanding and some were unedible. Unfortunately the crowd was a bad mix and Mr Chein did a terrible job selling whatever anyone wanted to hear and had way too many people for his kitchen and hotel to handle. The intamacy and coziness of 07 was really missed. We also had a share of very irresponsible parents who let their kids run wild like cholerias and destroy much property of the hotel and Chen. That was a big chillul and boosha on these parents. Whether or not the day camp was staffed and run well is was a problem but either way the parents who let their kids run wild and destroy hotel property is unacceptable. I can vouch that Chen was tottally visable and present at all times in hotel and made visits to our dining room table at least once a day. He was allways available to listen to the complaints and gripes and tried to be helpful. Unfortunately most of it was face time and he did not or was not able to satisfy a good portion of our issues. Once again very different and probably due to the fact the had over double the amount of people.
The hotel was beautiful although a bit out of the way, the rooms were clean and comfortable , the staff was unbelievably helpful and attentive.

Glatt Kosher Kingdom

I Work in the 5 towns and pass the store twice a day on my way in from Queens. When they first opened they were very unorganized. As the few weeks have passed I have been back a few times and they have improved. They pizza counter has gotten better each time i have purchased. The 99cent pd chickens keep me coming back daily to stock up. The meat itseld seems pretty good but on the high side. The vegatables i have puchased have been very well priced and fresh. Tonight we purchased a chicken special which was very small and when we eat it for shabbos the verdit will be in. They started advertisinh heavily in alll the 5 towns papers which is great as that is how i show all the speacials weekly, Overall the takepit looks very shvach and not very tasty. The bakery products are very good and he sells 1.OO challah and rolls on sunday which is big plus. Brachs(beigels) used to do that and GG(zomicks) waits till tuesday. Zomicks has by far the best old stock redeuced price bakery in the 5 towns. Overall whats on special at GKK is good shopping. Unfortunately the store is small and very hard to manuever around and they run out of the specials very quickly as tonight they were out of the puff pastry, pizza bagels and raw chicken specials. As i told my wife if they continue to run good specials they will draw people in otherwise I dont see a whole lot of reason to shop there unless i need the 12.99 pizza.

Kosher Shopping - long

I think you may be mistaken. Those two stores closed becuase they were dirty , dumps with very high prices and not very good meat quality. Look at all the thriving stores such as Kollel,Friedmans, Goldbergs that are thriving.

New kosher dairy restaurant in West Hempstead

Yes the propreitor is Elliot Rosenfeld (or close to that) from Teaneck NJ. He has two stores in NJ in Teaneck and I think Elizabeth. Ive eaten a few times in Teaneck and he has a excellent reputation. Food is very good and they are super nice propietors. I hope they give Hunkies some competition as i wont go on......
