Best Mexican in Sherman Oaks?

Not Sherman Oaks but close. Salsa and Beer near Lake Balboa. Dumb name but great food plus super affordable.

New Trader Joe's South African style potato chips...

Yum. Like what barbecue chips should have been like all along. These taste like steak!

Just moved here from SF and am having major withdrawals without Henry's Hunan. Help!

good cheap eats near san francisco giants and downtown

Java House at Pier 40 or Red's Java House at Pier 30. Red's is a pit further away from the park but I prefer it...and so does Anthony Bourdain.

Napa Cheap Eats

The Bounty Hunter has a lunch special M-F...large BBQ sandwich, choice of side and soft drink for $10.

Napa Valley Biscuits offers very affordable southern syle fried chicken and biscuits.

Electric vs. Gas Burners

That's a dealbreaker. Find another condo.

Dives and cheap lunches

Henry's Hunan for great Chinese.

addendum in Yountville

A friend of mine and I are going for lunch. Should we get one BBQ and one chicken and share? Or should we just both go for the fried chicken. Bottom line...is the BBQ really that good?

Best steakhouse in the Los Angeles area.... Hey Chowsters... Chime in!

Best place without emptying your bank account is Taylor's.

North Bay Biscuits & Gravy: Novato to Hopland (N=16)

Check out Napa Biscuit Company on Main Street. Just opened a couple of months ago. Yum.

First time in San Fran

I have an addiction to the food at Henry's Hunan. There's several around the city. The one at Sansome and Broadway would probably be the closest to where you're staying.

First time in San Fran

First of all, don't go anywhere near Fisherman's Wharf.

Burgers, Burgers, Burgers!

Although they use the word "char" in their advertising, they are not char broiled at all. They are cooked on a flat top.

Is there such a thing as a fine dining chain?

I like the Hillstone Group. Many have different names but all have similar menus and the quality is excellent.

Thousand Oaks - Nate 'n Al's is closed

Thousand Oaks? And sitting right between Claim Jumper and P F Chang's. What were they thinking?

Trader Joe's bacon switcheroo...

I like TJ's bacon. But today I noticed something odd about how it's packaged. They lay a meaty piece on the side that shows the most fat. By the pattern, you can tell it comes from a completely different batch. Check it out.

Jones Soda Holiday Flavors

Where can I buy them?

spicy food for allergy weather

A spicy bowl of Mabo Ramen at Asahi Ramen on Sawtelle usually does the trick for me. And only $7.45!

New Sizzler Truck

Note to Kerry Kramp, CEO of Sizzler: Marketing/testing food not presently sold at Sizzler is the best/only good idea the restaurant has had in 30 years! I am serious. Good luck, really.

Eat Real Festival 2011

I went late Friday afternoon figuring I'd miss the crowds. It was still pretty crowded. The Nicaraguan place had the longest line by far. A lot of the venders had not arrived or were just setting up. That was disappointing since the hours were advertised as starting at one o'clock. Many of the venders were "the usual suspects" that show at other fairs. I really wanted to try The Whole Beast's stuff but it wasn't ready. I noticed the guy kept jabbing thermometers in the food and looking unhappy.

Who has the best chile verde in San Francisco?

Great deal on LivingSocial today -- $10 for $20 of groceries at Whole Foods.

This way you get the food at normal prices instead of the usual inflated prices.

McDonald's Lobster Rolls - what gives? [Moved from Quebec board]

Davis is right. In fact, 5% of what looks like lobster could be "100% real lobster" and 95% could be fake lobster made from fish.

Food trucks: which ones are really good and which ones are just fads

I agree. Besides being good (a given), street food should be cheap and fast. I find most trucks are neither.

What looks good at Saturday's SF Streetfood Festival?

I assume it's going to be insanely crowded. What would you suggest if you could pick three?

In desparate search for the most MILD buffalo sauce available in a bottle!!!
