I kind of didn't have any more specifics to give... I do have a very open mind... That being said, "more casual but still very nice" sounds right. I have not been to either Maialino, Locanda Verde or Minetta Tavern so I don't know what to expect there... but I can certainly look them up.

Hello,
I am looking for the best place to have lunch or brunch on Saturday Feb. 12th? A really nice place with memorable food. Below the 30's, i.e Soho, Chelsea, West Vill./East Vill, Meat packing (even bklyn) are all ok. Any type of cuisine/style is fine. A place that has some sort of Valentine's special is not out of question as this is a couples lunch.
All suggestions welcome.

Suba in the LES has a very cool vibe. Food is uneven, meaning you either get lucky or you don't. It could be worth a try.

Quick thoughts: "Sugiyama" for japanese. "Craftsteak" for steak. "Churrascaria" - fun place for steak/meat feast. "Clinton" restaurant downtown or "Norma's" (inside the hotel) for brunch (or breakfast).

We are very openminded, so any and all suggestions are welcome.
We would probably eat around 4-5pm.
We are also openminded regarding the cuisine. Maybe just not too ethnic (no indian, thai, japanese etc)
Budget= no more than $75 a head would be fine.
The main priority is just the atmosphere and elegance/niceness of the place.
